You need the whooliepop in your base, it drops cotton candy. It's cute, and other pals can eat it (the cotton candy). The big cows are needed for milk so you can make cake to breed pals. The big cows are adorable too!!!
You can unlock all the engrams with technical knowledge books found in loot chest all over the 3 sanctuary islands. Easy Island right below starter area, but you need flyer or swimming pal. They respawn every couple in-game days. Rare high-level pals are found there
Don’t forget to give the miners a spa to relax in! If you do just 1 berry patch there it will make enough food to feed everyone over there as well automatically.
Fun fact, if you could reload a musket alone that fast IRL when they were the primary weapon of the military, you would have been considered the most skilled soldier in your country and likely would have been retired/promoted out of actively using a musket in order to instruct others.
Also don't worry TOO much about tech points - you do not get enough as you level up to unlock everything, but you can grind dungeons and just sprint through to the boss room. The loot boxes by the exits sometimes contain technical manuals which give you one tech point each, and each cave will yield 0-2 in my experience. They're not a hugely common drop, but they're also not ultra rare.
As far as I've found, these are the only two loot crates in the cave which have these on their loot table, so you can safely skip everything but the final boss room unless you see Pals you want to capture or are particularly short on gold and small Pal souls, which are the primary loot from any other chests.
On the topic of pal souls - as you explore the map more and progress through mounts, you can breed a fast(ish) flying mount with swift III and ideally haste too, but any decent speed buff will allow you to do runs zipping around the high level areas collecting chests, which will drop Small, Medium and Large Pal Souls in a good quantity. I currently have 40 large souls banked and haven't done anything more than grab chests as I see them while collecting pure quartz and Pals.
By the time you read this you'll have discovered that the turtles act busy when you're around. When you're gone they seem to do lazy work. Like everyone and their dog here is recommending, breed an Anubis. Make a few of them. He's a great worker and kick ass party mate.
The tortoise is USELESS lol even Dumud mines more. Menasting seems to be the best I've used so far.
I haven't had this issue with the turtles? I've set up a single base as a metal farm using primarily turtles and it's currently producing metal at a faster rate than I can reasonably use it without mass producing stuff for the xp/hell of it. I'm not arguing there aren't better options and it's entirely possible they can't meet the needs of a group, but I've definitely not found their production to be an issue in single player.
Though I will say that sticking one into the base I put around coal spawns, which is dedicated primarily to farming and is only there so I have a fast travel to the coal spawns by Anubis, did basically nothing. I think in the rotation time between me doing other things and then popping back to pick up produce it produced about 7 coal, which isn't worth the slot it uses on my farm considering I can get 150 with 30 seconds and a refined pickaxe.
Wait is this true lol wth. I went through so much effort to catch a few of them cuz I saw they had level 3 mining skill and when I put them to work on the stone pit they seemed to mine is really fast lol idk if this is a bug or actually intended for them to be lazy
@@shoobzy3431 I had the same thought - they handled my needs so well I couldn't understand what people were talking about. They're fine as the stone gatherer for the quarry at your main base because they seem to work as intended while you're in the area with them. Where you seem to hit issues is when you create a metal/coal base and leave them there to passively generate resources out of render, at which point they do very, very little.
How effective they are essentially scales to how far you've progressed in the game - in early and even midgame, when you're around your base a lot, they work fine. But in the late game where you're spending your entire day doing boss runs for XP and want to come back to enough resources to repair your armour and weapons and restock your ammo? The issue really starts to show.
The easiest fix right now is just to use Anubis' instead, as they're more than good enough at mining and have the bonus of being really useful for transport and handywork too, meaning unless you want to smelt on site/grow the food there etc they can handle the basic running of a mining base entirely by themselves (Obviously the BEST setup isn't to have your mining base be just Anubis', but it will function and they'll have your infrastructure buildings up in a hot second).
Your metal base is exactly where I put my 2nd base when I was out exploring early on! I saw it and went, "If these things respawn pretty quick - this place is goated" lol
FYI: You can use the grappling gun while encumbered! You can load up on metal and then just grapple your way to a storage box
When you start to get into breading you need to know that you can breed a relaxaurus with a celeray to get an anubis

The one thing I like the most about this game is u don't lose ur stuff when u fast travel unlike ark If you forget to take ur stuff off. U don't lose ur stuff in this game witch is a game changer all games should do this for real

The desert's a really good place for a resource base. Since there's no fast travel point there the base will act as one, you can passively gather ore, coal, and sulfur (though I don't think there's any spot that will let you have all three inside the base diameter so you'd have to choose which ones you want your mining pals to work on and get the other/s yourself), and it's the best place to farm high quality pal oil, at least before the end/late game, since both Dumud and Digtoise drop it and Digtoise especially usually drops 2-3 each time.
Axe just a bit of advice i would put defences around the base because i got raided and a creature burned my whole base down.

Probably realised this by now, but you get so many manuals from chests, dungeons and certain pal drops, that you can actually get every item, it's just a grind. So get what you want!
Also, Digtoise suck as workers. Having them in your team and manually deploying them, with their ability necklace unlocked, is the way.
Its worth having forges and a good kindler at the metal base too, they can forge it into metal there and its lighter to carry back
I recently discovered this, but you can command your pals to/not to attack things. This also works for necklaced daedream and dazzi, but I don't know about other necklace things

The turtle isn't good for a "Self Sufficient Iron Ore Base" get some more Tombat, that'll be better. (Long explanation in the reply)
The ideal setup for your level would be: 4 tombat, 1 Teafant, 1 Dumud, 2 Tanzee OR Lifmunk.
Plant 3x Berry Plots. This will make it so you don't need to bother checking their food.
Add 1x Spa. This keeps their Sanity up, reducing how many breaks they need and preventing injuries.
Why is Digtoise absolute TRASH for passive ore production?
1- The mining skill only matters for what ores you can mine, and mining speed at the Stone Pit. Level 1 mining is for stone, Level 2 for Ore, Level 3 for Coal and Sulfur, and Level 4 for Pure Quartz.
2- Ore nodes provide ore based on how much damage you deal, which means DPS is king.
3- Digtoise will deal 1 hit of damage, and then begin its spinning attack. This will deal half of that damage over the course of 5 seconds. This attack also drains the absolute crap out of its food. Then, Digtoise will go to get food, but has a terribly slow walk speed. Then comes back, does the attack again, drains its food again, and goes to get more food. It will also take breaks and go sleep for the night.
4- Tombat has higher DPS than Digtoise because it doesn't do that spin. Tombat also moves faster to and from the food box, it eats less food, and can carry ore on its own. Also, Tombat will work throughout the night.
Digtoise is ONLY every a good miner when it's in your party.
PS: I know everyone's saying to breed an Anubis, but that's not necessary. Anubis has a DPS upgrade, but it sleeps at night, so that upgrade is negligible. Anubis is the GOAT for building and crafting stuff, though. But, for your ore production, 6+ Tombat is just as good as 6+ Anubis, if not better.
But you can breed an Anubis by putting Penking and Bushi in a breeding pen with cake. You unlocked the Bushi boss in this video
U can solve your Problem with the Technology points with „technical manuals“ which can be found in Chests mainly in dungeons
Axe you can get High Grade Technical Manual from chest and a rare drop from the pal owls at night. Will add a tech point.
Breed your bushi and penking together or ragnahawk and tombat. Should get you an Anubis egg.

From what I've seen, you can literally farm tech points from dungeons, plus, certain pals have a chance to drop tech manuals when slain. So it might be possible to unlock everything, but yeah... Definitely need to watch how you're spending points.
Same can't be said about stat points, though, as you unlock a sort mind wipe tonic at level 43 when you build the electric med bench! (It only resets stat points)
Also, at co-ords 188, 37, on top of a massive rock pillar, is a site with a lot of ore AND coal! it's the perfect spot for a mining base.
I know four days in a new release early access is an eternity and you probably already know this but, yes, I can 100% confirm that you can farm all the tech points you need from technical manuals in dungeons. They only spawn (that I've ever found) in the loot table of the chests in the final room after you defeat the boss, so you can safely skip every other chest in the dungeon and beeline for the boss if they're all you're interested in. The high level dungeons in the high level areas of the map also drop technical manuals that give 2 tech points each instead of one, meaning if you luck out and all the loot in the last 2 chests are tech manuals, you can (in theory) get 8 tech points per run (but be happy with anything from 1-2, because you're also going to roll plenty of times where you don't get one at all).
@@aecides3203 The level 45 dungeons in the big snow area also give 3 points each! It's real nice!
For the high quality pal oil I suggest catching a tons of relaxasaurus when you get high enough level. They give it as a drop and you can sell them to either merchants or the Black Marketeer for a very high price I sold 10 of them for just over 30,000

Tombats are brilliant for mining, I have 6 of them going at it at the outpost.
I’m not sure if this game is like Ark in that resources won’t spawn within a certain distance of player structures, but to be safe, I might move the palbox as far from the ore as possible while keeping all of it in the circle. I’m in the same spot and I built ramps up to the north ledge to put the beds up there. Before I had a ramp I found a pal up there and was concerned they wouldn’t jump down.
You might want a single farm at the metal spot to make it self sufficient with one seeder and one waterer

You can unlock all the "engrams", because you can farm Technology points thru the dungeons. I have been getting 1 to 2 tech points per dungeon run.
Also collect eggs even if you don't want them, because eventually they respawn and they are random when they respawn.
Have Tombats on ur ore base... they work at night and mine and gather stuff as well...
You can get more points into he chests you get books that give you skill points and if you kill the owls called hoot something they drop them as well
You really should get at least the large and huge eggs, common is a type so you still get good pals from the eggs. Its also easy exp

Whoever told you that technology points can run out obviously isn't playing the game properly 😅 You get books in the cave boss loot that you use to gain more. You can farm them infinitely doing caves. Just unlock whatever you actually want to use, I'm level 38 with 28 spare points, its fine.
You still get the materials from pals whether you catch them or kill them

From what I can tell you'll need the tortoise in your actual party using it's active ability for very quick mining.
The way I do it is actually with a Mamorest, any pal with a Duo tornado attack would work but one good volley of that can drop like 60 ore at once if aimed at multiple rocks.
Edit: Mind you that requires the saddle which is fairly high up on the tech tree.

At the end of caves in those 2 chests by the exit there is usually 1-2 technical manuals that give you an extra engram point so I would recommend grinding those whenever you can.
There is a mind wipe but devs have advised not to use. Causes your effigy to reset and can only collect them once so wait for devs update I guess.
Why would you need it? You can get infinite points from the books in cave drops...
@lucyjane3803 guess that's one way just pointing out there is a glitch with mind wipe currently. Unless they have fixed it all ready.

You got the pals to get Anubis by breeding, forgot what pals you need to breed, but Anubis are the best for mining and you will need 1568987643 metal so filll the base with pals to mine

You want to get 10/10 of everything just for XP, but to condense them, you've only ever really done it right with those elephant things (that aren't very good, especially against an electric boss!? lol)
