yes world class concertina playing by Cormac but what also impressed me is Libby's subtle zouk accompaniment you can hear the spirit of the late Alec Finn in her playing
I've never seen anyone push a concertina to it's physical limits like this. Could any of us in the 1970s have foreseen the jaw dropping skill of the coming generations of musicians? And the numbers of them ...
True on all instruments. When Altan first came out is when I noticed the change. Seamus Tansey and Jim Donahue are a couple of oldies that were playing at an amazing level in the early 1970s, and Paul Brady.
Not sure of the first one (someone above had it as "Come West Along the Road", but that is incorrect). The second is a Donegal tune known there as "Mary O' the Wisp". The third is "Carmel Mahoney Mulhaire", written by Galway-born accordionist Martin Mulhaire for his wife. His most well-known composition would be "The Golden Keyboard", amongst many other distinctive tunes.
The pounding of a Birkenstock against a concrete pier makes for an excellent percussive sound
Libby: Alright. So did you bring your concertina?
Cormac:

She's the best out there 🏆

Jaysus, does he have enough concertinas there?
considering each of those are like 3-5K as well, no joke.
I believe that Jeffries are about 8k . But in fairness he knows how to work these absolute machines with ease. A true master 💪🏻
you never know............15 of them might fall in the water
From what I've seen in a video in a pub playing the Fermoy Lasses, he has upwards of thirteen concertinas *-*
@@amymoriarty2895 And do you think he might be an expert tuner and repairman, as well?
Go maith .
Yup🕺💃

@@jaygilbert4546 I think another comment in a live recording of 3 Begleysa mentioned this first tune as "Con McGinley's"
