Wow, this was 8 years ago! I think this is still one of your most iconic projects and I remember it as the first video series of yours I really watched (and of course it was mainly you who inspired me to make videos myself). Now I find myself watching this for inspiration for something else with a Panzer III :)
I think this series holds up pretty well despite the fact that i did this a long time ago. Audio and lights could be better but its still useful as an essential guide. I´m glad you still enjoy it mate!
Now this I'm really looking forward to seeing completed! I remember long ago building an old Matchbox halftrack and their tank kits always came with a little base and that one came with a railway section on it and I always thought that added so much more than just a road, so needless to say, this one that you're doing looks like a really exciting set-up. Bring on part 2!!!
Great Video, what you do is very cool. If i ever get round to making a diorama most of my ideas will have come from you mate. Its brilliant stuff, looking forward to seeing it finished
its a quite massive project, so there is plenty of work left (which i like a lot!) especially when it comes to weathering. the panther diorama with the railway tracks really proofed how good the tracks look so another diorama featuring railway tracks is a great thing. i also love the panzer III and the figures are cool aswell - all good materials for a nice diorama :)
Sounds good.. I paiinted almost all of the Fw D-9 this morning, the Xtracrylics dry very quickly so I had most of it done including the camo, in aboiut half an hour.... the only thing stopping me from painting it completely was the fact that I almost fell asleep in the paintpot.. I have done that mistake before, but thankfully learnt from it.. so I went to bed.. :)
Bloody good stuff sir, you've outdone yourself, and it's only partway finished! Love the way you made the suspension fit the railway track, and the water pump just makes the whole thing come alive! Can't wait for the next part : )
Books are a great source of inspiration for dioramas... I prefer books to the internet, as the books are always 'logged on' and ready.. :) Great modellbau so far and the diorama sure looks very promising.. but I would never be able to fiddle around with a track like that... even though it was perfect for your needs in this diorama, as a vinyl track just would not suffice... :) Much looking forward to part zwei.. :)
Love it already! I like how quickly you work, I'm so fiddly it takes me forever to get anything done. The do it yourself rubble and ballast looks great.
WOW! Your diorama looks great so far. I can't wait to see the rest of it. I like use of Styrofoam as a base. I also like the way you use all rubble material too. Thanks for sharing your great work on TH-cam.
even though i dont understand german at all i still enjoyed watching at the work.. this project looks realy realy great!!!! thank you very much for sharing youre wonderfull works with us !! :-)
this is looking great so far :) i am looking forward to see it finished. and nice idea for the diorama. i am preparing a panther tank diorama with some german soldiers. i also have two books about ww1 and ww2 with ALOT of pictures they are good for inspiration ;) very good job my friend greetings Johannes
indeed! books in general are a great source of education, not only model building related ones :) the magic tracks are excellent, very versatile, detailed and easy to build! these track links are that small so it can be done. i assemble both tracks in about 30 minutes, no big deal. i´m making the other parts right now, one for the tank, one for the diorama and one for the figures.
Your remark about speaking German is hilarious :) my mother spoke only Finnish here in America until she went to school. I recall a remark about a Norwegian guy who had to learn Finnish so that he could talk to somebody :) Hearing your German and seeing the English allows me to match terms, roughly, so it's good. This diorama building is great so I will see part two very soon. Chuck Maki aka Granskare !
That is no problem, because there is an English subtitle script attached to the video. Activate it in the right hand bottom corner. I also made a video on how to use the subtitles, here is the link if you can not get it to work yourself. th-cam.com/video/HKXfkCMC4F0/w-d-xo.html
i have a strong southern accent for sure but this does not really play a role as i added English subtitles to this video. They may not be perfect aswell but at least people appreciate it as a guideline.
thank you! it is finished already, i just have to take some pictures of it and finish the video. should be here within the next days, it depends on how much time i have.
cool video mate now i know how to make a 1/35 diorama which i am plaining to. Is a small diorama better to build then a large diorama? thanks for video
these cracks are pretty normal, therefore i apply several coats of clay over a couple of days in order to fill the cracks and to get a stable platform. the thickness of the clay coat should not matter.
I realy want to get this kit. But unfortunately my local hobby shop only sells tamiya airfix and small revel aircraft. Resently bought a german halftrack (hanomag) any tips (asuming you have one) love the video great idea.
The Dragon kit looks amazing. I want to try that :) I know it really doesn't matter but German and Russian rail tracks are not the same. European railroad has a more narrow gauge than Russia so the trains has to change wheels when crossing the border.
The track could have snapped when the tank was in reverse; thus the shape of it. It didn't even need to have to been shot off. Track breakage was VERY common, which is why we so often see tanks with spare links stored on the tank (which doubled as extra armor when not needed).
Pawel Jaremko thank you!thats a difficult question, it depends on the kind of models you like to build. i´d start with glue, tweezers, a knife, good light conditions and clamps.
Great job, mr Hamikar. I wanted to ask you a question: can you tell me the exact measurements of the diorama? Sa would like to play, well certainly will definitely not equal to his, because of my inexperience, but I would try. again congratulations
yes its an impressive kit :) it doesn´t really matter indeed, because the difference is about 10 cm on the real thing i think...as long as you don´t know it and you have a 1/35 scale russian railway track with you to compare the width of the track i used here everything is fine :)
I will Thx. I haven't made one for 30 years and after playing war thunder I am keen to start again. Difficult to find things though as I am in Taiwan. :)
this kit allows you to position the axes individually, this way i was able to adopt the running gear to the surface. wheels and track assembly are selfexplaining.
I have two questions for ya bro , one , have you ever used Friulmodel metal tracks ?? Two , I built my track links as you suggested bunt they hardened before i could get them on the wheels . do you have any suggestions as to how i can soften them again to get them to fit and add sagging ??? :-) Thanks martin
i used friul trakcs once on my hungarian toldi tank because the tracks that came with the kit were not doable at all. i think you used the wrong glue then, it works perfectly with the glue i use. maybe you can heat it up a bit with a hair dryer or something like that, but be careful!
well thats how it is :) language is a fascinating thing, i really need to get a bit more into it, i´d love it to learn at least another language. i had a teacher in school who could speak finnish, he sometimes told us some useful sentences for parties if you want to get known to a girl for example but unfortunately i can´t recall them :)
Was genau möchtest du wissen?

i love it to work fast, its so pleasing to see the progress of the construction.

Really enjoyed watching your "live show". Loved the tip of saving up your plaster leftovers for rubble. The groundwork is amazing, congratulations!
Looks fantastic so far, very nice idea for a diorama.
Hi Michael. This is going to look good ! I'm looking forward to part 2.
take care of youself mate. Best regards Pete...

Really really nice work! You did a great job on the debri as well as on the way the tracks of the tanks look, excellent work!

I have some Ausf.F. 1/35 from Zvezda. I won it in model competition and you gave me an idea for diorama! :)) Thanks, Edgars.
thank you very much :) its quite simple to build sucha diorama as long as you have the right materials.
i think the track was torn apart by an explosion or something else. it is not always the drivers fault if the track is damaged on a tank.
you are right, speaking german isn´t hard, even the small children here in germany can speak it :)
thsi is simply amazing i just found your youtube on basicmodellings video and i ahve given me so many idea thank you!!!!!
WOW! amazing work, best diorama! Very excited for the next video and to see how to paint the soldiers :D
Excellent work - I always struggle to get the ground cover looking realistic and not like I've just dropped it on the base
you make it look so easy, this is great!
thegreatsamurai82 cheers!
Great builds look fantastic and I really appreciate the CC. Very helpful since I have no idea what you are saying !
thank you! i use a whole bunch of glues, but i assume you mean the one i use for the tank. it is revell contacta professional.

i´m sure some model online shop sells it or you might get it on ebay or amazon.
i don´t have any tips for your hanomag build, just do it properly :)
This is amazing, I'm 15 and just starting and this is phenomenal
they are flexible because the glue has not dried yet, later they will be firmely glued together when dry.
thank you!
it is just a matter of using the right materials and to have a good eye for realism.

Tolles Video.
LG
thank you! a small one is easier to build, you don´t need to much materials and you can easily fill empty spaces with some nice details.
Nice job, you ae an artist. Carry on!
thank you very much :)
WOW That is going to be cool.
awesome shit hamilkar! cant wait for part 2!
Great video! Principles of General, everywhere, for everyone, only the materials may differ
excellent, but im wondering, where do you leave all the stuff you build, In starage or do you sell it somewhere?
great video, also i was wondering what type of glue u are using?

Hamilkar Barkas thanks! Is there a website you might recommend where I can buy those?
Pawel Jaremko squadron.com
the subtitles are here now, it just takes a while to add them, quite a lot of captions are needed in this case...
You could of bought some o gauge track from lenz. Would that be the same gauge as the track?
Very nice work :)
Just Me cheers
another great model is announced

Good that I understand pictures :)
So what is your opinion of the metal tracks , are they worth the money over the plastic ones that come with the Kit ???
sure those tracks are great, but in my opinion very expensive. they increase the good look of a model a lot.
Great job!
thanks
very nice work. bravo!
thank you!
great videos. I can't speak German but I see everything.
thank you nigel! there are english subtitles available, please activate them in order to follow the whole process more closely.
I will Thx. I haven't made one for 30 years and after playing war thunder I am keen to start again. Difficult to find things though as I am in Taiwan. :)
i'm guessing you added dirt as last because it gives a more "thrown around" look?
well. looks very nice!
when is part 2 coming out?!
Fantastico, gracias.
where exactly do you get the wooden bases? I have trouble finding them
a building center would be a good start point.
I saw an American video showing repairs of Shermans...I saw one track laying stretched out, waiting to be installed...diorama idea?
thank you very much my friend :)
i don´t know how the measurements are, i think thats rather unimportant. i think something like 30-25cm.
this kit allows you to position the axes individually, this way i was able to adopt the running gear to the surface. wheels and track assembly are selfexplaining.
yes, it is hairspray as i said in the video. it helps to keep everything in place.
I have two questions for ya bro , one , have you ever used Friulmodel metal tracks ?? Two , I built my track links as you suggested bunt they hardened before i could get them on the wheels . do you have any suggestions as to how i can soften them again to get them to fit and add sagging ??? :-)
