The thing about Rautavaara is that even though there's no appreciable melody, even though there is crazy dissonance, even though the notes COULD sound for all the world like they were random...somehow they never do.
The beginning of his piano concertos are so epic. In this one I feel like being taken far away on a little draft or a tree leaf and pushed by the streams. There is something deeply Lovecraftian about this music, wonders\horrors far beyond human understanding are suggested all around this piano fragile vessel.

Something for everyone and a potpourri of delicious morsels wrapped up in a magnificent package, sure to gladden everyone's heart!
