As far as I know, the effectiveness of strikes, landing hard and clean punches, among other things are what judges look at. Nate had some of that, and had more offense even though a lot of it was volume and less hard punches. I thought him winning 8 rounds was pretty out there even though he was more active.

I’m pretty sure boxing is scored differently, damage matters a lot in mma, even the commentators say it, in boxing, is about who looks more dominant round by round, Masvidal landed the harder shots but Diaz was constantly pushing forward, throwing punches in bunches and there were times where Masvidal would just stand there and not throw anything, if you look at it from a boxing pov, Diaz won, but then again idk exactly how boxing scores, I’m just going based on what boxing fans have told me

A lot of the time these non boxer boxing matches are boring. This was the best one so far
Criteria:
Effective Aggression: Being aggressive gives the impression of dominance, but unless the boxer is landing shots and not constantly getting countered, it isn't really 'effective'. Judges look for effective aggression, where the aggressor consistently lands punches and avoids those from his opponent.
Ring Generalship: The fighter who controls the action and enforces their will and style.
Defense: How well is a boxer slipping, parrying, and blocking punches? Good defense is important.
Hard and Clean Punches: To the untrained eye, it can appear as if a boxer is landing a lot of shots, when, in fact, most are being blocked or aren’t landing flush. A judge needs to look for hard shots that land clean.
Masvidal won on Hard and Clean Punches, Defense, and Effective Aggression. This isn't up for debate.
Jorge landed some good hard counter shots, but Nate clearly scored more punches. It was a great fight.

Nate walked Jorge down in all 4 corners the entire time, which had judges around each side. So imagine seeing someone backing up the whole fight. Those power shots don’t mean nothing and if you think they do then you haven’t fought a day in your life. You can get hit with the hardest punch and not feel it cuz you went to sleep. Power doesn’t = win.
