In one of the videos I read a comment which said that Sun Wukong and Erlang devised a plan such that when Sun Wukong reincarnates, he will be free from the headband restriction (Secret Ending) and he will be able to unleash his powers to their potential and so when we fight with Erlang one final time and get his staff we also unlock all Sun Wukong's memories stored in his third eye because of which as we see in the secret ending the destined one refuses to wear the headband thus discontinuing the legacy of being confined under the headband, also only Maitreya knew about this plan and no other Yoaguai king were made aware of it.
