  • In this video we discuss three focus areas; Downlink Frame Structure, Uplink Frame Structure, and TDD Options.
This video has been taken from our LTE Air Interface Operation course. This course focuses on the LTE Air interface and provides a detailed analysis of the structure and features of the physical layer, as well as the layer 2 and 3 protocols, before explaining how these are used in the operation of the radio link from initial attach, through service delivery and mobility. Finally, this course discusses the, concept and operation of LTE-M and NB-IoT.

Thanks for the wonderful knowledge sharing
    I have one doubt
How one complete radio frame can be transmitted over a lower Bandwith system like 1.4/3/5 MHZ
As I understand 1 subframe =2 slot; 1slot =1RB ( 12 Subcarrier in frequency domain and 7 OFDM symbol (NCP) time domain ) having a duration of 0.5 ms .
    So 6 RB = 3ms
Now as per your lession one frame=10ms , then how canwe transmit it over 6RB(3ms)/1.4MHz bandwidth ???

When describing bandwidth the term RB (Resource Block) is used, e.g. 6RB’s = 1.4MHz. In the LTE frame, when looking at frequency and time the term PRB (Physical Resource block) is used. PRBs last 0.5ms and occupy 12 subcarriers, i.e 1RB, as such for each RB of bandwidth you get 2 PRBs per 1ms. As an example, a 1.4MHz channel would have 6RB’s bandwidth providing 12PRB’s per 1ms, or 120PRB’s per 10ms frame. Note that sometimes the term “Resource block” identifies 12subcarriers x 1ms, i.e. 2 PRBs.
