- This was a 3 day reserve trip I selected....well bid for. I would not have had to work on this day due to how our reserve system works but by doing so it was strategic in likely getting 5 days off at the end of the month.
Rome was great. I was excited to go somewhere new. Thank you for your support and if you subscribe thank you for that as well.

These videos are great. As someone who currently just does flight sim, these truly show how human the life of a pilot is. It is so awesome to see basically everything that isn't flying the plane.
More videos like these.
The only thing I'd want more of is some more details on the actual flight, the 777 and procedures.

Thank you for sharing your trip to Rome. It is nice to visit there and walking around to find great cafes. You are right about us Flight Attendants knowing where and how to through so gorgeous airports. For me, on my former International trips it took a few trips to get use to walking through San Paulo International Airport. But I had finally loved stopping for coffee and sandwiches on my own without getting feeling lost.😊
God bless you and all that you do as a pilot to keep all of the passengers safe. I've always respected pilots, up there with doctors -- but watching most of the videos on Pilot Debrief's TH-cam channel, I have an even greater sense of awe for what you do.

Great video Darren! Rome is one of my favourite, yet least favourite places to go! Getting in is always a fun challenge - you really have to work to get onto an approach. I was in last week and we went from n34L, to 16R, to 16L within a five minute time period. Its fun! But man, when you get on the ground, it's a real challenge to get the ball rolling and have an efficient turn around! It's always a relief to get back into the air and enjoy the views of the Alps northbound back to the UK. Anyway, thanks for another great video! Hope you're enjoying the change of fleet.....im jealous! Thanks.
Enjoyed the video! I'm retired but I flew nothing but international (FO) out of DFW for three years, 1989-92, loved it. Then, I upgraded and had to return to 'reality'. I flew mostly Paris. One experience brought everything home to me...Arriving at the layover hotel one morning, we had to wait for our rooms to be made up, as usual. There was a crew lounge with crews from several airlines in attendance. I think the only reason for the lounge was to keep us from clogging the lobby.
Anyway, I struck up a conversation with an FB from Thai. This was in the olden days and we were both wearing analog watches. I glanced at his watch and it said 3 o'clock. I glanced at MY watch and it read...3 o'clock. OMG, his watch is showing 1500, mine 0300! Good times. BTW, I am now subscribed.

I was in Rome earlier this year, a crew cab pickup would not be my choice to drive. I drove a VW T-Cross which was fun.
Next time you are in Rome, get gelato from Fior di Luna in Trastevere. It's incredible.
I'm a load agent and have AA 289 on my desk often. A 16R departure is usually preferred due to 25L taking a big weight restriction . Looks like 289 usually has to wait quite a while for a 16R departure.
We couldn’t figure out the reason for the restriction as it’s towards the water not terrain

It’s possible. We can call the bunk or Flight Attendant to wake them up

That was a nice video! I hope you can keep posting these long haul trips adventures. I’ve a quick question, if you have 3 or 4 days off, can you hop on your company plane as a non rev and fly to Europe for only a day? Then come back to base.
I did exactly that a few times. I’ve done day trips to Amsterdam, Rome, Madrid and Frankfurt. Thank you for the kind words. I normally post new videos on Thursdays.
What do you think the most common use of a reserve pilot is? No one bid that flight, some one timed out, some one sick, some one stuck somewhere else, all of the above? All my flights to/from FCO the past few years (one very recent) have been on the *kirkland* 777/787 to DFW!
Most common is a trip no one wanted. Uncovered.

I've taken a couple of classes and have flown a couple of prop planes. I have always had a curiosity on jet flying. I believe I've missed that bus seeing I am now in my 60's..lol. Hi, i always wondered if driving your vehicle after flying feels so crazy different. I know just driving my car vs another vehicle (bus) is so different.
It used to. Landing at 160 MPH then less than an hour later driving 35 MPH down the access road next to the runway. Ha

if there is one thing I learned from international flying is the importance of standard phrasology when language can become a threat. all the time I spent flying in the US, I can say standard phrasology is not as common as it pewrhaps should be. "outta one point five four six" just wouldn't work in most places outside the US.
Absolutely. Many pilots that fly in the United States use a lot of slang and made up phraseology.

Curious about the phones -- what do you do for international data? Does your company/contract give you some cell coverage or do you buy data SIMs with the per diem?
My primary is my iPhone. T-mobile so data is free. Pixel uses giffgaff UK eSIM like $10 a month. No company support. It’s all on my own. My company efb/ipad has a world wide sim account paid for my the airline.

Pixel Buds pro. Much more comfortable and better noise blocking than my AirPod pro 2s. I listen to podcast, old Russ Martin (local DFW Radio) shows or Linus Tech episodes on TH-cam. I need noise.

Correct. We operate both.

Yes FRA gets the 777 or 787 depending on the month. I’d like to bid it but it’s rarely in open time.

85 is all a reserve can be ASSIGNED. I can bid to pickup extra flying above and beyond that

About the accent, you experienced what the pilots from all around the world experience in the USA
I find flying in the US less complicated than flying in Spain, France or Italy. That being said I am a native English speaker

Hello sir. I hope our doing well. I just want to ask that I have stutter and I want to be a pilot. Is this allowed? I mean I have stutter mabe like once in a sentence or 2/3 times but it last like for 2 sec.

It’s allowed. What helped me was making a fake voice…hard to explain but I really enunciate and use a voice deeper than my real one. Doing so really reduces my stutter. I also talk much slower than I think I should which is about the normal rate for most people
