@@vanlendl1 The recordings of Dire Straits albums are incredible, making them great albums to test and tune. Walk of Life is one of my favorites to play around with. Such a great track!
I’m reminded of the “audiophile” doctor that wrote a review of an expensive CD player that turned out to be a much cheaper model mounted inside a fancier enclosure.
The Production on Love Over Gold still sounds absolutely state of the art. Pick Withers is just nuts on this record. He is the perfect setup man for Knopfler’s liquid tone and effortlessly beautiful playing all over this and Telegraph Road.

1st i thought that its the effect of the audio system, even on my phone. But of vourse, this cant be real, so i listened on my phone from Tidal, and (without excluding the awesomness of the system) its the song itself. Somehow, really punchy frequences, like a comercial on TV after listening news.
@dominostories9844 carpet can create static which can cause interference with playback, especially during the colder months. Raising the cables off the floor breaks the contact with the carpet, minimizing static from the carpet interfering with the cables.
Yes, I thought I was clever hiding my surround cables under the carpet. The interference brought an ambient sound to the room. It was only when I rearranged them (top of the baseboards) that the noise floor came back down.
The audio quality is so transparent that it does not sound like it is emanating from loud speakers. It sounds like a line in recording because there's no discernible room acoustics mixed in which is a instant giveaway when listening to conventional loudspeakers you always hear the room. This is incredible and if the speakers provide the best vehicle towards this level of transparency, now I know why people spend huge amounts of money on super premium loudspeakers.
After repairing several pieces of McIntosh gear over the decades I realize that it's built like broadcast equipment. Easy to repair and still US made with top notch components. My other stereo gear of choice is Audio Research. Nice system.
@VinylLatte if this is your system, congratulations. Years of working, saving, going without and an eye on the prize. Gathering gear like this is no easy task. Someday, I might get lucky enough to sit for an hour with a system like this one. For now, I'll just keep working and dreaming also. All the best, Kevin
Mh I miss a bit a box with a lot of Volumen. Low frequencies need space to evolve. Better and cleaner bass. And the rag still reminds me of everybodies living room 80s-90s. They all had them and all of them still working. Today we have the Highend gaming PCs back the days it was dads Hi-Fi.

Audiophiles don't listen music. They listen how music sounds on their equipment
That's not audiophile behavior
I agree. Everyone’s ears are different so manufacturers see opportunity.
It's a hobby... most of them only turn it on the show to friends. Not fans of music.

You don't need all that crap. Just buy what the sound engineers actually use : studio monitors.
