Charlie hunter playing his bass\ guitar hybrid here so actually this mix splits his instrument in half. he is certainly a beast. i would love to hear pino on this tho
Right! I would've had the guitar/bass part together but I have yet to find a good isolater for guitar. It also would've been really cool to see Pino play but it's also really cool what we got from Charlie Hunter!
I love Questlove but sometimes I don't find his drumming very inspiring to me. However, on this track, his groove is soooo tasty, especially the fills in verse
I used a website called MVSP.com and you can put any song into it and it'll isolate any part that you want. It uses AI so it can be a bit of a hit or miss kind of thing but don't let that discourage you from trying it out!
It's actually Charlie Hunter playing both bass and guitar simultaneously on a Novax 8 string. The lowest three strings tuned to bass notes and the top five to guitar. Either section has its own pickup output to go to a bass amp and guitar amp respectively. This is presumably digitally isolated with RX or something, but Charlie played both parts at the same time. He's still a monster player to this day - check him out!

Yes!
What did you use to isolate these instruments?
you can probably find live footage with pino playing the part on tour
@@aaronphillip3056 Yes, there's footage of Pino playing this with the Vanguard
You know you gotta do the whole album at this point right? Lol! So awesome hearing these
I love how imperfect it is
I love this song
Man if you feel like doing more of these, untitled would be such an incredible thing to hear this way

appreciate this
These are great!! Please do the rest of the album :)
"Whenever it raiiinss --- "
Yessss
Africa would be so cool! Especially if you were able to keep the kalimba sound in
Pretty sure its a rhodes sound, i might be wrong tho.
The Root would be great to hear
@@larsmeijer9640 you're right! It sounds like a Kalimba, but it's a Rhodes with the tines mic'd.
awesome

do you have the multitracks??? or is this ai isolation or something
Sounds to me like AI- Moises will do it for ya
Full track sounds like its got ride cymbal playing in the chorus. Was there a second track of drums overdubbed in the final track?
it sounds more like this isolated part doesn't have the overhead mics that would have captured the ride
There are no overdubs on the album at all I believe, other than on untitled
Is Charlie Hunter playing a Bass VI?
I think his guitar/bass had eight strings in this era, a Novax model
Yeah. I don't remember if it's a 7 or 8 string but it is a guitar/bass hybrid guitar!
How was this separation made?

Sounds like an upright bass. Nice
edit: is it a fretless bass?
