  • The final part of our study through 1 John, and part 18 in an audio-lecture series through First, Second, and Third John taught by Pastor David Guzik. The Apostle John's incredible letters are invaluable guides for perfecting love and fellowship - between man and God, oneself and others, and between Christ and His church.

Hopefully He is still bringing us home when we persist in the wrong event when told to repent

I pray in fear, because God is awesome. I fear because I know even when we are forgiven, we still pay for it sometimes because God is justice. If Moses and David still paid for their sin…and Apostle Paul…how can I think I wouldn’t. I would like someone to respond 😞

I don’t usually have confidence in my prayer, more like fear because God is almighty powerful and I don’t want to be too confident. Does that sound weird or bad?
I guess, in the past when I’ve been confident bad things have happened. I hope I made sense

Thank you for this! Let's be clear, the confidence we should have in prayer does not come from ourselves, and it is not a confidence in our own abilities, strength, or motivations.
It is instead a confidence rooted wholly in Who God Is, as revealed to us in scripture - it is a confidence in the reality that we may call upon the name of the Lord and that His promises are true.
In these things, we can safely be confident in HIM, while being simultaneously in awe of God's almighty power.
This is an appropriate confidence to have, one not reliant on our own emotions or actions, but entirely rooted in God's revelations to us.
Thank you for your comment, blessings in Jesus' name!

There are times, o don’t speak it out loud. It seems I’m speaking loud in my silence

Pastor Lance replies - While it is good to be humble before the Lord, we can be confident that He loves and wants the best for us.
