In John 5 there was a “great multitude” of sick, lame, and paralyzed people lying around a pool in Jerusalem hoping for a miracle. One man was there who was an invalid for 38 years. Jesus was directed by the Father to heal that one man among the many who were sick. Why did He only heal that one person? And what must have all the others thought when they were stepped over for their miracle? Pastor Gary shares two perspectives on this story-one from the angle of what ministry is supposed to really look like, and one from the human angle of what it must have felt like to be stepped over for a miracle.

I am a post patient of two liver transplants and the removal of the colon. Needless to say it’s been a hard twelve years in pain, de habilitating, depression and just not able to function. Always praying and hoping for healing like waiting for an angel to stir the waters. But my healing came to surface about a year ago but not in the sense how we would think a miraculously act. In fact, He has cured me in my strength, joy and peace. Just with that alone has given me abundance in functioning and living like nothing afflicts me. I am so thankful because he healed my state of mind. My new body I look forward to when we all reach His heavenly state.
@Tunesformema I am revisiting this sermon, as I sometimes do. The lame man’s struggle alongside Jesus as faith stirred Living Water. I want to reply to you with how encouraging your testimony of healing is. For peace and joy amid the storm is so very much praiseworthy. Please know that I will continue to pray physical healing over you. -Found

Amen Pastor G! Pastors leads the people to Jesus' miracles. I need a miracle for US visa to attend the funeral of my mother who died in a tragic hit-and-run collusion. I know it's not physical healing, But miracle comes in different forms. And this to me would be a miracle in itself. So I could see my dad & brother in CA and grieved together in unity for the loss of our dearest mom. Thank you for your preaching & teaching. It has enrich & change my life in every way possible here in the Philippines.

I really enjoy your preaching. And this one opened my eyes, when you said about Jesus only doing or saying what the Father tells Him to do or say. I have a lady I know of who is dying of cancer and I was wondering when to see her and what to say and how to say about salvation. Your experience to wait untill the Father tells you just opened my eyes. Thank the Holy Spirit for bringing this up at the right time. Why did he get stepped over? Good answer pastor. Many are called but few are chosen.
Amen and amen Pastor Gary...there are seasons when it seems as though God has stepped over us but God has a purpose even though I just don't understand
I watch Gary's lessons each night, and it seems he speaks to me on matters I needed to hear. I've been a Christian for forty-two years, and a minister for twenty years until my partner passed away. I've preached the gospel to so many people and led quite a few to Christ, but Gary always has new things for me to hear.
Regarding his refusal to pray for a woman, I'm reminded of a time when I was a member of a Methodist church. On Thursday nights we had a casual meeting of about a dozen of us for prayer, bible-reading, discussion or whatever. I taught adult Sunday school on Sundays. A woman, my age, asked me to kneel with her at the rail and pray for her, so we knelt together. Words would not come to me, just silence. After a minute or two she nudged me and asked me, again, to pray for her. Still the silence and no words. She finally stood up and looked disgusted with me but it seems God did not want me to pray with her. Yet she needed prayer because she was a Sunday school teacher for the children, and I had learned from her that she never reads a bible but subscribes to the Watch Tower publication... Jehovah's Witness materials.
About the woman who told a parent of a deceased child, that Jesus had gained another angel, that has always irked me when others say it. I see it in social media, and it shows the ignorance of those who say it.

Thanks so much Pastor Gary for the lesson and I appreciated 🙏 I am paralyzed since March 19th 2020 and was very sick for a long time and facing many deaths from sepsis that infection gets into my heart and slowly stop beating but through God's grace and mercy upon me that I am alive and able to to some of the daily activities on myself. Praise the Almighty God Jesus Christ for His healing and I always praise Him for He is good!
Please pray for complete healing upon my diseases that God will restore all my broken bones and restore my spinal cords injured.

Great insights into the Miracle at Bathseda….however, something to consider: yes, God can and does many wonderful things, miraculously sometimes to care for His people . He is a God of pure & complete love.
So, would this God , who desires that we should love one another more than ourselves cause a miracle that would lead man to only consider their own needs rather than the needs of others? Would create such fierce competition that those weak and ill would be pushed aside and trampled to bless only the fastest and least ill?
Or is it possible that the “Angel” stirring the waters was demonic. If satanic agencies place illnesss or disease upon man than surely they can also to some extent lift it.
Contrast with Jesus …he healed all who came to him. He demonstrated the true character of His Father.

Prophetically speaking, angel ie messenger, stirring the water, or dipping in Jordan. The word of God, stirred by a preacher, or a person by themselves reading God's word. God's word brings the Gospel. When stirred up or dipped into.

Thank you, Pastor for your preaching on this text. And your explanation of why you would include verse 4 is reasonable, indeed. However, the strongest evidence for inclusion of the verse in right in the context: verse 7. The man’s answer to Jesus shows three notions he had: 1. That there was healing to be had by getting into the water, (2) while it was moving, and (3) as the FIRST one in. Where did he get such notions? Verse 4 provides that context perfectly.

Please read! : Sometimes we use cliches or just feel a need to say something about a spiritual situation. It can hurt someone deeply!!! Example ------> 42:14 Please realize that sometimes just listening or a silent prayer is what is needed! I almost did not seek Jesus because I heard so many contrite things from the "Christians" in my life. I have had many questions answered (some I did not even know I had) from these verse-by-verse videos. I encourage anyone to absorb these!

Umm Gary is a great teacher but in regard to Jesus stepping over others in regard to healing - in the full context of scripture Jesus healed all who came to him. This however might be the only healing that Jesus initiated. If others there did see that he was healed by Jesus if they wanted the same then they would have sought Jesus out like the rest of the multitudes and would have been healed as well. Sad that Gary used personal experience for doctrine rather than continued to give good hermeneutical and exegetical teaching. Yes sometimes things happen we don’t understand but as far as healing you will never be able to find one time that Jesus turned anyone away that came to him to be healed. One reason many are not healed is because of erroneous teachings coming from the pulpit.
You started put well teaching of the healed man at the pool,,,then went on a tirade of practical life application that had nothing to do with John 5, your 2 perspectives had nothing to do with John 5...
