Great video Beth as always, that was a really nice gesture to donate the Gopro to the RNLI, even though I moved to Canada in 2001 I still buy RNLI Christmas cards and give them to some of my business partners, they love the painted scenes on them and I still get to support them from here, my favourite TH-cam channels are yours of course, Canice, and a guy in England I follow with a channel called "The Narrowboat That James Built" he is doing pretty much what you are doing but on a narrowboat, oh, amd Bertie is such a good boy, loved the happy "downward dog" yoga stretch he did, a sign he is happy !!!!

Well done! We all know in our heart of hearts that an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. Go you! 😀

Have you considered the green bathroom grade chipboard for the floor? Friend of mine left a chunk of it in water for a year and it was unaffected - much better than ply for water resistance.

That's a good call and I had considered weatherproof ply although I found the stuff I could get is a lot more expensive and I'm going to paint the ply too.

Looks so good it's almost a shame to cover them up.

Maybe a clear perspex floor would look cool! 😁

Hey there, did you ever find out, or work out what type of wood it was that you removed?
I’d really be interested to find out.
Your reaction and description of it reminded me of a wood called Jarrah (Eucalyptus Marginata)
I think that they call it something else in the UK and Europe.
I lived in Western Australia for a few years and I came across it there.
I wore out, or broke several drill bits and blades on that stuff.
Don’t get me wrong it’s beautiful, and it lasts forever, but it’s like stone and such a pain in the bum to work with - especially if you don’t have the right tools 😳
Perhaps your old floor was something like Hard Maple wood.
It’s light in colour as you described the floor boards .

I'm not really sure although it could be a mahogany.
