This is so heartening. I’m a late diagnosed (at 38) high masking adhd & autistic mother. I’d like to add to this conversation that even NOT knowing you’re autistic for decades is a highly traumatic experience. Neurodivergent individuals are more vulnerable to becoming victims of abuse (it’s extremely common), can have very sensitive bodies and that’s on top of having confusing and upsetting experiences just simply by being different. I’m having my first havening session tomorrow and I’m hopeful. I’ve had a lot of trauma in my life and find talk therapy incredibly challenging and disappointing. Thanks for speaking specifically on the topic of autism and neurodiversity ❤

Dear Robin, thank you for the touching video. Watched with tears, so happy for the young man. Dear Robin, you are for me the TRUE KIND DOCTOR. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your story Jordan. Sounds like processing those traumas helped you overcome a lot of fear and open up your life which is wonderful
I’m an autistic adult and also a therapist who works with autistic adults. People don’t realize how intrinsic trauma is to the autistic experience. We have a lower bar of traumatization and we experience more social exclusion, bullying, assault etc. Our nervous systems are also often more sensitive than a neurotypical person
I share Havening as a resource with all my clients but I usually reprocess with emdr bc that’s what I’m trained in. I find the Havening really helps clients to use in between sessions though. I so appreciate Dr. Youngson and his videos
