      You can do the following:
      1. Feed the tree with seaweed solution.
      2. Remove any weeds around the tree. Apply a thick layer of the mulch on the soil by mixing cow manure: 1 bag, sulfate of potash: 1 tablespoon, blood & bone powder: 1 tablespoon, and dolomite: 2 tablespoons. Cover this with a thick layer of sugar cane mulch.
      3. If the tree has many branches, then cut a few inches of one or two stems at the growing tip end. In the next season, new branches and leaves should emerge on that stem. If that happens, then you can repeat for the other branches. Good luck.

We have a magnolia tree, not very big, it has a canker about 1 yard,
like 2 inches from the bottom and upward. Previous summer I applied
ammonia from a spray bottle. Seems like it helped a bit, but this year
there are some more rotten areas inside. I plan to continue with ammonia
and try that idea, someone shared in comments about a torch, but I want
to ask if that tree can be cured (if the canker is so big, only ~2.5
inches left to the other side of the trunk). Diameter of the trunk is ~7
inches. We recently bought the house with the tree. Thank you for the
    useful and informative film.

    • @GardenTricks
      @GardenTricks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Canker is a fungal disease which may cause serious damage to the tree. Remove dead bark to dry out the diseased area. If possible prune infected part of the tree. Removal of the canker part of the tree is the only best treatment. In my citrus tree, I cut the branch well below the canker.
Although there is no treatment of the canker, you can spray a dilute solution of chlorine bleach on the infected part. Spraying a copper fungicide is a preventive measure. Improve tree health. Avoid watering the foliage.

I have a magnolia tree that was accidently cut down. So I am trying to get the tree itself to root. I am also cutting branches off and will try this method to grow another tree from the mother tree. Would it be alright if I use the dirt it was originally growing in with the river sand? Also it appears the bag the pot is in isn't total closed, like thee are some open places at the top. So do you totally enclose the bag? Thank you so much! I about cried when I saw it had been cut down. It came up on its own and I had watched it grow to 8 feet tall.

You can mix the river sand in the soil of the tree. After I posted this video, I found planting the cuttings in the river sand only instead of the soil-sand mixture as sool is always contaminated and can prevent rooting. As the cuttings do not have any roots so soil is not needed. You need only to hold the cuttings and keep a high humid environment. You can completely seal the bag, the idea is to create high humidity.

I got it today this morning so it has only been about an hour. Right now, I have it soaked in nutrient solution to give it some thing while waiting. I tried to do a research on how to grow it or keep it alive but to no avail. So I am turning to an expert like you. Can I grow this thing? If I can, how?...PLEASE HELP!! On Christmas Eve we had a tornado. It damaged my house and it destroyed my aunts house next-door, it brought down trees all around and threw them as far as 100 yards. Lightning struck my magnolia tree that has been there since my grandparents on this property it is over 100 years old and the lightning split it completely down the middle. Parts of it landed on my car and my Jeep that I was selling. I was most hurt by the damage to the tree. It lived! Tried to regrow on the most damaged side and the other side was blooming...
Until this morning I woke up in and found that friends of the family had chopped it completely down because they were worried about the safety. They thought they were doing me a favor - they gave me so much help since this happened. I am absolutely devastated and I cannot even tell them. I took as many cuttings as I could and I am desperately trying to root the cuttings. I know there’s a high failure rate. I just pray and hope that she can live on through her seedlings 🌱 please wish me luck 🍀
