My biggest concern is the hundreds of millions of dollars that the Charleston County School District will forgo om Tax Increment Finance district to help subsidize the wealthy individuals and corporations . Looking at the performance statistics on the school boards web site is evident that it is already providing a woefully inadequate education for a majority of Charleston County's students, die to the TIF's already in place. The school board will have no alternative except to raise taxes on the citizens of Charleston County in order to subsidize building projects in the city of Charleston. Thanks for the video.
Re: The Magnolia Plan. don’t care for nor would I use such hotels, but overall, I like utilizing land not currently utilized. Plus, like Bill said, it might defray some of the city hotel traffic. Some cool developments happening, which means the area is growing economically. Much different than most of my area (Pittsburgh PA). Informative video, thanks Billy.
I'm a life long resident of Charleston. Born and raised. Retiring in less than a year and so happy to say I will be leaving. I don't understand why people think it's so great. Herd mentality I guess.
I was bought here after being recommended the video through google recommended news articles on my phone. I'm just curious If you pay for Google ads or if the algorithm just knew I care about Charleston stuff and recommended the video for me.
Hey! Welcome to my little corner of TH-cam. I’m glad you’re here. No I don’t pay for ads. I’ve been able to build out my channel and create content to where Google/TH-cam know exactly who to recommend it to.
id love to meet you for lunch if you have a time for meetings? i bought a home in north charleston and have been watching this unfold and finally people are picking up on it
Affordable housing doesn’t mean bad housing. Affordable Housing is defined in Section 54-120 of the City of Charleston Code as: “Single-family, two-family or multi-family dwelling units, used exclusively for residential uses, where occupants have, in the aggregate, household income of less than or equal to one hundred twenty (120) percent of median area income for owner occupied units, or eighty (80) percent of median area income for rental units.”
Restaurants that have been staples of the downtown community for years are dying because their staff have to "drive in" from Summerville and Ladson where housing is actually affordable.
Need more PARKING SPACES!! Im not happy that the cruise ship is leaving. It brings in a lot of money. Now i have to drive to Florida to go on a cruise sad! Sometimes change isn't good. Let talk about Bens project the Cooper next to waterfront park. There are going to be 5 restaurants and around 200 hotel rooms and shops. Where are they going to park!
We did a cruise out of Charleston…it wasn’t a great experience. We will drive down to Port Canaveral any day and cruise out of there. But I do agree a lot of money is being lost.
9/28/24 Viewing AGAIN; loved it!

To paraphrase slick Willy, "that depends on what you think the meaning of meaningful is"
Is the Long Savannah project too early in its infancy to be considered a massive project? Would love a video on this and where the project is headed.
Seems to be a lot of moving parts in that one. But will definitely be covered in future videos. Maybe sooner than later.

You’re welcome Timmy. ;)
Stopping the talks about the cruse ship terminal and THEN annoucing a billionair is buying it shows how corrupt the city is. Disgusting
But that billionaire will get more done with that property than SC Ports ever would. It’s a win for the city.
Very informative video, I like that’s I all in one video about the area and future projects👍
Glad you enjoyed it

Tearing down the Alley for another "Charleston hotel" is absolutely despicable, y'all should feel ashamed
We dont need more affordable housing. If you cant afford to live in downtown then drive in. It’s stupid.

@@patrickbillinghurst3210 its more cost effective to work up there and not deal with traffic and paying for parking every night too.
