Hi Almando What an interestng video which I really enjoyed watching. You certainyl do some excellent work :-) Thanks and I am looking forward to watching the update after calibration and tension adjustment Tony (UK)
Tony: Sorry that I didn't do a video of the calibration. I have always stated that I can't work and do the video at the same time. I will try to do a calibration video one day. But no promises.

Hi Almondo. Who in the California area would you recommend is very good at working on a Revox b77? I have a high speed half track unit that works well in every area but will not go into record mode. Plays back prerecorded tape fine. Transport works great. I live in Northern Nevada but driving any distance to a qualified repair shop is not a problem for me.
Hello: Go to tapeheads.net and search for Tinman. He is in LA area I believe. He is a Revox, Studer, and Tascam/Teac reel to reel tape recorder expert.
Hi, Almando. I live in Honolulu and have a B77 case that I was going to throw out. Would you like to have it? I have no use for it since I purchased on after-market case for my B77. Let me know.
I was in London last week. Now I am back home in USA. I went to Arsenal vs Leister City. Please post your tape questions at www.tapeheads.net you will get many people to respond. Thanks for checking out the chanel.
Have you succeeding to fix the dragging tape issue with the large reel when you press play at 7:55 min ? I have the same behavior and not sure what to look for. Thanks
It was the pinch solenoid. It was not engaging correctly. I pulled it apart, cleaned it up properly ensuring that it is bone dry, and no oil or grease on it. I also adjusted the brakes, ensuring that they engaged at the same time. That's what I did to correct the problem. You should also post your questions on www.tapeheads.net. There all the experts will respond to you.
I meant to say parts cost in excess of $700. I buy only the good stuff so it cost a bit more. I don't know about labor as this is a hobby and I don't do repairs for anyone.
Hello: Please post your questions to www.tapeheads.net You will get many experts on tape decks to help you for free. TH-cam is not the right place for technical support.
There are so many different models of these decksc and PCB to match each. The capstan PCB might work, but I recommend that you look at the circuit diagram in both B77 And PR99 service manual. I also recommend that you post your question on tapeheads.net. Lots of tape techs are there and will provide answers.
Are the PCB traces popping off the board easily ? Revox is known for very delicate PCB's. Which multimeter would you suggest with high impedance like a VTVM ?
Yes I experienced that issue on Revox A77. Those boards were in a bad shape from the start. I had to use solder and wire to bridge the PCB traces in several spots on the boards. You can't use too much heat on those boards.
Boy... What a fantastically organized workshop. It's a credit to you, I just wish you were in the UK..!
Thank you. I like to keep things as clean as possible.
I am now for a few weeks in April.
Вы серьёзно🙂
15 and 1/2 and 3 and 3/4 inches a second?? Wow! Now theres a REAL rare machine!
This Revox B77 only operate at 7.5ips and 15ips. Sorry if I made a mistake in the video.
@@almandog No, I think the Revox B77 operates at 7.5ips and 3.75ips. The PR99 is 7.5ips and 15ips.
No the High speed version of the b77 mkii runs at 15 and 7 1/2
You're the Revox king! Fantastic work.
No. I am now where near getting to an Expert Level on the Revox tape decks. I am still learning and I like it.
Hello:
Not true at all. Not Revox King at all. Still learning. These decks can be tricky so the key is patience.
Great video !

Hi Almando. Are you selling those Revox R2R, or only refurbishing them for your own use/collection?
It's just a hobby of mine. When I have more than I can handle or have space for, I will liquidate.
A modification to the tape transport board will solve the slight tape spill......ASK ALEX

Much thanks for your shared resources. Would $400 USD be a good buy for a working B77 mkII these days ?
Absolutely. Is it working?
Even if it's not working but it have all the circuit cards, $400 is a great buy. Are you selling one?

I use Leader equipment mostly. I also have a Simpson voltmeter, but I hardly ever use it. I do not have a dedicated VTMV.
