Thank you so much!!! I have been wanting to do this, but everyone else is only using Google Classroom. I thought transferring to Canvas was going to be a big deal. Thank you for your video. You made it look easy!
So glad this was helpful! If you are on Facebook, we have also started a group just for Elementary and Canvas if you are interested here is the link facebook.com/groups/339582457002736/?ref=share
This is great and super helpful. If you create a homepage through google slides and all of your hyperlinks go to different slides in your presentation (like if on the homepage you have a book shelf and the students click on it to go to their reading resources slide) would they be able to see all of the slides in your presentation or will it just go to the slide in the link?
Great video, answered what I needed! Thanks! Question, if you change your Bitmoji classroom, will you have to go back and upload a new link or will the url still take them to the updated version?
Thank you for the video! Quick question, how do you add a canvas link to your bitmoji class? Say if I wanted to put a link from a canvas warm up assignment... where in canvas can I find the link to embed?
You would copy the url from that assignment from the address bar. But I actually don't recommend that as it will open in a new window, but if you are okay with that then that will work.
Hi Carrie! Thank you for sharring this. It helped and my bar disappeared!! I do want to know if you mind sharring how you first created your Bitmoji classroom? I really love the layout and how you added two bookshelves with all the math manipulatives and books. I also love all the posters and room decore you added.
I have been searching for days and this video was absolutely perfect! Thank you! But I cannot get rid of the black bars on the top. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you!!
It really is tricky! Try width 800 and height 440. And just an FYI it may still show up for your students depending on the screen size on their devices.
Hi Carrie, When I press publish to the web, and then Embedded I don't have the address to be able to copy and insert on Canvas. I don't know what I did wrong after designing my classroom, can you tell me what to do?
Thanks so much for this video! It is so so helpful! I have one question. If I am linking to a page within Canvas, does it matter if I go to Student View and copy the link or just copy the link when I am viewing the page as an instructor?
Yeah unfortunately the home page dimensions are slightly different because of the navigation on the right. It is really just a game of guess and check in resizing in the HTML. Sorry!!!
Carrie, I have a question. Will my students need to have a google slides account in order to interact with my bitmoji classroom once I add it following these steps?
Yeah unfortunately that is the trade off. The black lines are the "equalizer" for making it fit on different sized screens. You can play around with the sizes in the html, but it will only fix it on your device.
Hello! Thanks for the video. Question- I am uploading my virtual classroom from PPT. When I edit in the HTML to get rid of the bar at the bottom, I do not see a 3000 in the URL. Do you know where I would put your code when coming from a PPT (not google)? Thank you!
I followed your directions. I am okay with not resizing (it was not accepted anyway), as I do not have live links. I was curious as to why I could not link this to my homepage? Is this a district thing? Thanks so much
Do you have any advise for when links are not working in a virtual classroom that is embedded on Canvas??? A few hours ago my links worked, then all the sudden they stopped!!!! Do you have any advice??? Please help.
I have embedded my Google Slide classroom in my canvas, successfully! I can NOT get my hyperlinks to work. They only work in Edit Mood. Do you know why that might be?
I had the exact same problem and it happens when you are using Chrome as your browser. Switch to Firefox and the links will work. In Chrome the students will have to right click the image with the link and tell it to open in a new tab. Good luck!
Hi when i click file, then publish to web, then embed, the code was not shown. there is nothing for me to highlight and copy over to canvas. can you help me with this?
Hi I am having trouble removing the tool bar. I was able to resize it but when I tried doing the "+rm=minimal" after the 3000, it keep giving me an error that it was unable to open. Only real difference I see between mine and yours is a frameborder="0" code. if I keep it or delete it I get the same error message. Am I missing something?
Great tutorial. Question, has anyone been able to see if this works through the app? I know some students will be using phones, and when I look at my class on my app, my classroom does not show up. When I go to the page in the app, the links don't work either. So not sure if that's going to be an issue on the students' end.
When I try to make my bitmoji page my home page, I find the "use as Front page" option greyed out. Has anyone had this happen? Wondering how I activate that button
So, Canvas seems to have broken this last night and links in embedded slides are no longer working. Since they seem to take the "squeaky wheel" approach to fixing issues, I recommend that anyone having issues post on their forums. There are a bunch of different ones already running, here is just one: community.canvaslms.com/t5/Question-Forum/Embedded-Google-Published-Slides-Links-do-not-open/td-p/389469
Update: I had to publish it first, then when it was published, the "Pages Front Page" option was highlighted with a link to my Bitmoji Home Page. I was able to click this, and now it is linked.
Our coding from the myspace days really coming in handy for our careers. Who would've thought.
Yes!!! All we need now is some music playing when it loads. Ha!
@@carriegardner1713 yesss... I miss the music :'(
oh my goodness you are sooooo right! 😂 Our students probably don't even know what myspace is now.
I search for hours trying to find how to do this. Thankfully, I found you! This was the perfect tutorial.
You explained how to embed this into Canvas really well. This looks so cute and I'm sure your students love it.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video!! I couldn't work out how to set my bitmoji classroom as my home page. I've got it now. Susan Vilar
Thank you thank you THANK YOU for figuring this out and sharing! Those controls along the bottom were driving me BANANAS!
Glad I could help!

What's so great is that much of what you use in Google classroom can transfer to Canvas with a few updates!
THANK YOU SOMUCH. This is about to set my year off right.
So glad to hear that! :)
Magnificent!!! I love the changing of the embed code part to improve stuff. Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Yes! I found that helpful as well just make it fit and appear perfectly in the page.
Thanks so much! This was super helpful and I love how my canvas Bitmoji page looks!
You're so welcome!
Awesome job! Thank you for sharing! This is so new to me great to find a tutorial straight to the point.

It will update automatically! Thanks!
How do you add links that are within the Canvas course?
Thank you for this info. Just FYI, if you change width to 100% then it will fit to any size screen.
Good to know!

@@carriegardner1713 I figured it out - thank you!

Is there a way to keep it from flickering every few seconds?
Hi where do I find this link? It’s so cute.
Thanks so much for this video! It is so so helpful! I have one question. If I am linking to a page within Canvas, does it matter if I go to Student View and copy the link or just copy the link when I am viewing the page as an instructor?
Nope. You can snag the link from the regular view.
When I pasted the highlighted link to the canvas page....it never turned into my bitmoji classroom. The link just continued to be there.
I got it!
And just in case others have that same issue make sure you are pasting it in the HTML editor part of your rich content editor. Use the to switch over.

Did you click the yellow publish button?
@@carriegardner1713 no and after I posted this question I realized that was the problem. Thank you

I used Powerpoint to create my bitmoji classroom, so I don't have an "Publish to Web" or embed code. Thoughts on how I can make this work?
Thank you for this. I was able to resize in pages but when I click on "Home" the black bars appear on the top and bottom. Any thoughts?

Best video!!!! thank you!!!!

Carrie, I have a question. Will my students need to have a google slides account in order to interact with my bitmoji classroom once I add it following these steps?
No. If you do the publish to web and embed they will not need accounts to see it. :)
Thanks so much! I messed around and now have a black header on top and on bottom😕
Yeah unfortunately that is the trade off. The black lines are the "equalizer" for making it fit on different sized screens. You can play around with the sizes in the html, but it will only fix it on your device.

HELP! Links don't work when I log in as a student on my phone through the Canvas app!!
when I go to "publish to embed" it does not show what you select to copy

I am having the same issue!
It was a system wide issue, but I do think it is fixed now.
Do you know why when I embed the text does not turn into picture of classroom on Canvas? It's saving as text not image.....ughh
Are you in the html editor? Once you are in edit mode you then have to switch to the html editor and paste it there.

This apparently was a glitch in Canvas's system, but is getting fixed. So it should resolve itself.

Carrie, when I change the height & width it won't seem to stay.
Did you click save? Were you in the view?
Hmmm...I'm not sure why that would be the case. Sorry!!!

Can I share the bitmoji classroom template with other educators or is it copyrighted?
It is not my template, but rather one that was circulating for free on social media. It was shared for free, so I am assuming it is not copyrighted.
I'm missing the part how I added it to Canvas. How do I place it on Canvas?
In the html editor of a Page.
