My Favorite eMTB - The Cannondale Moterra SL eBike - The World's Lightest Full-Power eBIKE

- As I've been struggling with health issues, my Moterra SL has been a game-changer. It's a full-power eMTB that's the same weight as most half-power SL eBikes. This bike features the shimano ep-801 motor, full power, full battery, excellent geometry, and only weighs 45 lbs. This combination makes for a this a truly special bike; in fact, it's my favorite eMTB to date. Today we take it to the trail to test it out and see what it's like.

Super Happy you and Tess got out and rode together. I do wish that they would simplify the modes on the bike. Eco, Trail and Boost is all the modes you really need in my opinion.
Wonderful way to describe it. I find it discouraging when people with waaaay more riding experience than me just dismiss ebikes and suggest there is no point in riding one.
So great to see the 2 of you out riding. Hope you are enjoying and aclimating to Bentonville as much as you did in Sedona.
My Trek Rail Gen 3 got down to about 45 lbs at one point, primarily due to carbon wheels, in-line Deluxe shock, Yari/Lyrik fork. Since then, I've replaced all those things with heavier stuff (i40 alloy wheels, DD rear/EXO+ front tires, Float X2 shock, 38 fork), and now it's about 55 lbs. I do miss the lightness, but I also love how beefy it is in this configuration. I'm about 270 pounds, so it's not such a big deal as it might be for someone like Tess.
Hope the recovery was closer to days than weeks
Thank you. This ride took 3 weeks to recover from, but lately it's been closer to one week recovery
Orbea rise is a little lighter, same motor. Rs tune is an option not required anymore. My Rise has the race tune! All this new lighter full power bike is where it is!
The rise is a great bike too. This one has a 601 WH battery. You can order the rise with a similar, 630 WH but it's about 2.2lbs heavier than the sl at 430.
I'm glad the lighter full power eBikes are starting to take off!
Yes, Cannondale does think "out of the box." We can't forget the MX moto debacle that almost killed the company.
If that’s the lightest than you’d love the DJI Amflow 😉 my PL Carbon Pro is exactly 20.8kg in XL.
Id love to try that one sometime.
interesting bike - how would it ride with short chainstays ? is the motor assisting up to 20 miles ? in europe we are only allowed going 16 mph
I've had 3-4 ebikes and they all cut off about 18.5 mph
@@TRG36that's probably 30 km/h
Class one eBikes here in the states are limited to an assist to 25 kph which is just over 16 mph. HOWEVER...I own three class one eBikes made by Haibike and they all start tapering off power at 19 and all assist is gone at 19.5 mph. I believe my speedometer is pretty accurate. Although I wish it would assist to around 23 mph I still enjoy every ride. I really believe 30 kph would be the perfect limit on class one as I spend so little time at the higher speeds.
@@geraldhenrickson7472 Class 1 is 20 MPH pedal assist only. Class 2 is 20 MPH pedal assist and throttle. Class 3 is 20 MPH throttle and 28 MPH pedal assist.
I’ve ridden both the Specialized e-bikes but that’s all I know for e-bikes. Do you know how it compares to the lighter Specialized?
Now that I made it all the way through the video, I think you answered my question. Looks like a sweet bike.
Also, I think Dusty Betty’s comment about skills is spot in. In my few e-bike rides, that’s one thing that stood out. It makes riding more about skill than brute strenght
