If the Pretenders don't get you moving, you don't have a pulse. Chrissie continues to be a wonderful artist and so interesting to hear during interviews. She and Martin Chambers are truly rock-n-roll legends. Her bass player and lead guitarist are excellent too. 👍👍👍👍👍

She’s from Akron, Ohio as are Devo! She worked as a waitress and was a fan of the British Invasion. So somehow she decides to pursue a career as a singer and songwriter and moves to London! I don’t know where she got the gumption to do it but she had the incredible voice which made it all possible. Plus she wrote good songs that fit her vocals perfectly. The rest is history after she put together the Pretenders and their brilliant debut album riding the Punk New Wave explosion that occurred in the late Seventies. The result was a hit album and headlined tours. Then Two original members died. She carriered on. And wrote more hits and kept going! The rest is history! HOF for sure!
The Pretenders were probably the most exciting band to come along at the tail end of the 70s ( 1979). Great music from the start although the band was beset by tragedy, they continued with drummer Martin Chambers joining Chrissie Hynde as the two original members. The band is in top form at Austin City Limits, the best music show in the history of television.
I am also from Akron, Cuyahoga Falls and have followed Crissie from there. We were all trying to eecape NE Ohio because of rubber, steel and all factories closed and moved out devastating Ohio economy. Crissie moving to London had a relationship with Dave or Ray Davies of the Kinks which I'm sure set her carrear confidence wise
One of the best concerts I went to was Pretender's and B-52’s in Portland Oregon. Christie Hinds open up the show and says to the crowd 10 years ago they would be opening up for me. Both shows were great.
Wow, good job Chrissie for staying alive, love you and your tunes a lot. You got some good pipes. Very cool you got Martin playing drums. So sorry for your loss of the the band members early on. Your band mates here on bass and guitar, fantastic. Love the classic Pretenders songs. And I apologize for for hollering vulgar language at the Twin Cities show back in the 80's, I was a little high. Take care and rock on!
I've had a 20 year crush on Chrissy since I first saw her. Maybe some day I'll tell her. Her magnificent voice hasn't changed a bit. She used to wear this black hat with glitter on it when she really got in the mood. I think I'd ask her to keep it on.

1980. That first album was so so important to me, my friends, my life. They took a big mis-step by releasing the EP BEFORE the second album. Talk of the Town was one of the gems , but because it was on the EP first , it took some of the lustre off LP number 2. By the time the 3rd LP came out - they lost me.
You know, when she says balsam is the best rock drummer, one is inclined to think she was being serious. No one drummer is, but he really is incredibly good. It may be that he is consistently this impressive which makes gigging so much easier for a band. It's just a shame that every band isn't this tight playing live.
No se si vayas a traducir esto, fui a tu pagina y que encontre, eres la verdura en caldo (Es groseria alabandote) Buenas bandas, valio la pena encontrarte, gracias,.Saludos
Funny not a fan and just a listener of music. I had a Crissy thought the other day out of no where. And now this? It's like you tube read my mind somehow, never knew her like this? Nice music and voice too. I think I want her be with her now?
if the drummer just could at least try to do the original drum pattern to start message of love please , playing the tom pattern straight is not how it went !
For me it was always Chrissie talking about love and showing no positive facial or any emotion at all. Chrissie laughing is out of character. She can perform how she likes of course. She was always about aloofness and distain. But I did like the video.

Excellent! Chrissie still sounds amazing, and this lineup is fantastic (second only to the original four). Thanks for uploading.
WOW, what a great live sound.. Band Performance and Recording, AWESOME JOB to all..
Not many bands formed in the late 70's have their original drummer. Martin Chambers still hittin' 'em hard!

Just curious... the drummer seems to be playing behind a plexiglass screen... is there a reason for that ?
Reduces noise on stage. Mainly for the players on the stage.
@@paulwortman483 Thanks for the reply.
I think on a small stage you want to limit interference between instruments. The audio engineer can control the mix more precisely.
In case somebody throws tomatoes or something....
It's called a sound garden.
Why is the drummer behind glass or plastic?
So he can hear HIS monitor only and also blocks the sound from bass and guitar amps.
Great show, except for the dork at the end!
