He's probably going to see this video and make a "simpler times" joke about it, but in all honesty it was strange seeing him go from "yeah I'll make content whatever rollercoaster tycoon haha" to having to force reactions and over-talk about what's in front of him in order to keep business running. I will say he's pretty great at what he does, but it's different for sure...
Lifestyle creep is a hell of a drug. Most TH-camrs I've seen fall into making content that doesn't artistically inspire them (like TikTok reactions) are the ones that move to LA/Austin and start living the "big streamer" life. They get sucked into that world and then clout and money become the most important things to them, but somewhere along the way they lose that spark that made them want to make videos in the first place.
Look at Dunkey for a good contrast - he stayed out in Wisconsin and just kept making whatever weird shit he felt like, and now he's got a hyperloyal cult fanbase that loves every weird thing he puts out.
im still sticking with schlatt but its hard to see ngl. he has a great on screen personality that just gets wasted with the shitty reactions ngl. the best of jschlatt 2019 video is still probably the funniest video on the platform
At least he has Sleep Deprived, it feels like that's where he seems most comfortable and the most like himself (in my opinion)

I thought this was gonna just be one of those fan compilations of a guy's funny moments, but this was not just that. For that I am thankful.
I still love jschlatt, I've followed him since then, and it really has nothing to do with the image or anything. He's the only creator I've consistently followed. Used to be more high effort, but I'll still watch a bit of what he puts out, I genuinely am there to watch what he makes, regardless. I can't deny this vid hit good though. 2019 was a different time, and his old style is irreplaceable, a huge contrast to the easily replicable mainstream-friendly stuff he churns out today.
His efforts that he used to have with his videos went to keeping and running multiple channels and company 😔 also being a part time otk advisor

Tbh I think that Schlatt is still a great guy, and his content has gotten slightly stale sure, but overall he is still a real and genuine guy. He hasn’t let money really get to his head for all the jokes he makes, and he still has his genuine moments of awe and joy. I think that Schlatt will continue to be an Internet personality for a lot more time and I truly hope he continues to succeed.

Of course he’s still funny in the past but the present is just too much better
I dunno man, there's something magical about a content creator during that first "starting to blow up" arc. That little moment before the money and fame fully kick in, where they still have that small creator mindset of "I can just make whatever for fun, this isn't my job forever," is something really special. Guys like Jerma and Dunkey are the only ones I can think of who never lost that.
@@ATXnomad698 I don't watch him anymore, but I think Pewdiepie is the only guy who went down that route but got a full redemption arc. He started out with full personality doing lets plays, fell into the trap of becoming increasingly dispassionate and repetitive with the Reddit and kinda reaction content, making content he didn't want to, but then turned it around and now makes his own personalized content that he loves to make, not caring about views or the algorithm.
@@ATXnomad698 i feel i have to mention Markiplier. Markiplier even tho its definitely forced content makes some good stuff. He just never seemed to have a creative spark on his regular uploads with lets plays so its never been very comparitive to years ago since alls he does is lets plays. I like that tho
