I have a feeling your kids are going to have an unrealistic expectation of the sturdiness of wooden structures. Might be a rude awakening when they have to deal with ikea shelves in a dorm haha ;)

i built something similar two years ago during lockdown, and my aim was to make a piece of exercise equipement to do dips, leg raises, inverted rows and such; now that the enthusiasm for fitness has been laid to rest, i still use it to lay clothes on,so it really is multifunctional.

some years ago i was browsing in the tools/fitness department of sears and i saw a family eyeing a treadmill. i sauntered over to them and said "i see you're in the market for a new coat rack". it took a few seconds to sink in before they all laughed.
