My wife went for an interview a few years ago, afterwards the panel asked are u happy with the interviews fairness? (10 minutes interview).
The job went to the principals niece who lived with her.

Can't comment on that school but can see that kinda thing happening all over. And they're supposed to be under the codes of practise set out in the Public Service Appointments Act I thought. Should be external process from start to finish.

You and your husband should teach abroad. You would be welcomed with open arms. Irish teachers are in high demand in the middle East and Asia

Teachers Council in Ireland is bollox. You have to pay 500 quid to register and that's followed by endless months of sending documents back and forth. In England they ask for your degree, transcripts and police check. On top of the teaching council bullshit payment you now have the 2 or 3 grand payment for primary teachers who need supplemental Irish lessons. Eventually after registering you will end up in a job with a lower annual salary than your colleagues ( 2011 legislation ) and being raped by taxes, health levy etc.. Do yourself a favour and teach elsewhere.

Ireland doesnt have enough jobs. Never did never willl. If you want a job you can rely on join the public service. Once your in you can sit back and be seciure in the knowledge that you will be OK for the rest of your working life. Some public servants like nurses , firemen and ambulance drivers do a great job but they rest are lumped in Union wise to make themselves look necessary. If half the management and pen pushers were let go in the morning no one would ever notice.

True....This happens to me at interviews a lot....I have high qualification, I am very well prepared for what I am applying for...the results are negative....
The truth is simple...No one wants to hire someone good, ambitious & smart because they are afraid they are gonna loose their post....

@@cristinasimona6019 well, you also essentially wrote one long sentence. I mean there could be other explanations for not getting roles you apply for aside from some sort of ignorance from a plethora of would be employers. It happens to us all. Even if all that you say is true, you're probably up against other people who are smart, well prepared and qualified for the role.
A lot of jobs these days get over 100 applicants, in many cases it's in the multiple hundreds. It's very easy to fall into the trap of externalising blame for an unsuccessful application, but in many cases it's a numbers game and you have to trust the process. Sometimes it comes down to a matter of opinion and personal feeling, some go your way, some don't.

I suppose thats why we have such an inclusive ,broad and fair society. There is more to life than GAA for many people. It doesnt even exist outside the country except maybe in NY or London on a Sunday. It should be supported equally with all sports and should never be used as an excuse for giving someone a job.

@@connietimoney4447 I disagree. Hurling and Gaelic Football are far superior to any other field sports. Hurling is the essence of the Irish spirit, existing for at least 5000 years on the island. Hurlers are wizards who pass on the mystical art to Ireland's youth. Without hurling and football, Ireland would long ago have become no different from some soulless Birmingham suburb.
