We’re back this week with the writer and publisher Lomez, who will help us sort through
President Trump’s blizzard of executive orders. We also discuss the controversial New York
Magazine coverage of the Right’s Inauguration celebrations and a strange cult of transgender
computer engineers who are allegedly involved in a string of murders.
All that and more in this week’s podcast.
I wouldn't call Elon right wing. He's still a self-declared centrist, and still believes in many liberal principles
What are liberal principles anymore? Aside from free speech I can’t think of any.
he's a globalist and a snake in the grass. it is depressing how welcome he is in the movement.
@@charlessavell3641you know exactly what he’s talking about.
@@charlessavell3641 Freedom of speech, freedom to live your life without persecution, freedom from excessive government inteference and just generally small government. Many of us Republicans are STILL Liberals. But we're not dumb enough to fall for the hateful garbage the left spews.
@@spacecadet7606 no i don’t. What are liberal principles? Name a liberal principle besides free speech.
I'm one of those who came very late to the conservative side on most issues. Now 71, I voted dem in every election from Jimmy Carter to Hilary Clinton (yeah, I know...). I was red-pilled half-way through Trump's first term. Now I'm in awe of Trump. Optimism, confidence and accomplishment is now cool. The other side just has defeatism and bitterness.
I'm a 47 year old Military veteran, retired Fireman, and patriotic American. I'd like to say WELCOME to all those who have joined me, FINALLY, in the PRO-AMERICA movement. Trump 47 is a figurehead for now. But the movement existed long before Trump, and will exist long after him. Welcome to "team America". Glad you joined us. I welcome you.
And you don't have any more right to define and push those values than DEI people have to push theirs. If we get why we can't let DEI people define racism and legislate on it should be obvious why we can't let you define Pro-American amd legislate on it.
@@BigStar1972 I don't define anything. I'm not pushing anything. The American People have chosen it on their own.
And the the left wing is now irrelevant. This is OUR Republic.
@@BigStar1972 Because there are specific principles our country was founded on. Our country was founded based on liberty, equality, and democratic meritocratic values & principles, not on principles of equity. Equity may sound nice (*to some, not all*), but it’s not actually a founding principle of this country and that’s the point. Some people co-opted and pretended it should be or is what this country is or should be about, for kinda understandable reasons, but it’s not actually the case, it’s manufactured by those that want it to be the case.
NYMag cover totally backfired 🤣
While I do much prefer the current trajectory of politics, I'm not sure that three liberals from yesterday are anywhere close to representing the "Cultural Right's Ascendance".
This is responding to the thumbnail alone. Lomez is rad.
Be cool, be humble and formative. Be charitable and Lead by example.
This is the way.
Enjoy some cheap shots at relatives who were ass to you during the prior years, but make sure to approach people with attempts to form a coalition. This doesn't mean sell out principles necessarily, but it does mean that we shouldn't try to out-"based" people who just flirted with normalcy.
@ Flirting with normalcy?
The persistence of the caricatures of the right and the primacy they hold as a true or genuine representation of the right in the minds of the left is something that I think is holding us back majorly
Terminal lucidity. Stay prepared Patriots.
Yep
Ascendant? Hardly. More like "only just stepped out of the shadow".
The right needs to get serious about the long term and invest in the culture and narrative to back the politics. Yes, this means ponying up hard cash for publications, arts, writers, plays, films, content creators, reviewers etc. For at least 10 years.
What kind of art would the far right produce?
What the right requires is former left leaning artists to direct more media in its favor. This might not be as difficult to find as it sounds given the state of Hollywood media and arts
Remember that if it hadn't been for former DEMS, some gone indie (me, 2007), some from one party to another, there would be no change. I am part of the MAGA-MAHA coalition, without whom . . . well, you know. And it is almost always the former Dems (Trump, Scavino, RFK Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, Elon Musk, et alia, including rank-and-file exes) who do the heavy lifting. I can least afford to volunteer, as I've been punished by my blue (publishing) industry, in particular for liking a book on which I did the cold proof (FOSSIL FUTURE) but I do my civic duty anyway. Guess how many conservatives I met while toiling away at the (RINO) supervisor of elections office in a FL county--a RED one? TWO. All elders, TWO conservatives. TWO. Less effort making money (and the Right wonders why rank-and-file Dems are poor), more effort on direct volunteering with your bodies. Not one so-called conservative publisher has come to the rescue of the blackballed, btw (Tony Lyons is not conservative; he sees dollar signs, so publish he will--save me from the blue mainstream? not on your life--or mine!).
We have families and jobs. I'm busy raising four kids, that's how we fix the future.
@@smelltheglove2038 Oh, OK. Make zero time to volunteer to do your civic duty. You're not the only one with heavy responsibilities. In fact, you should, I would think, want to assure your children's future. That takes civic involvement. How has everyone tending to their family ONLY worked out? You are the cry of the guilty shirker of civic duty.
You are still a lib, I bet - a gradualist lib who does proxy feminism, supports "LGB" and such.
We will not need elections in the end, that is what matters.
Thank you. The people who describe themselves as conservatives only care about money. It’s a merchant ideology.
@@smelltheglove2038no. You need to have some sense of community and take part in shaping it if you don’t want it to be overrun with evil.
None of these people are terribly Rightwing in the grand scheme of things. Free speech, free elections, Constitutional rule of law etc all are pretty Classical Liberal ideas. An ascendancy of the Right would look like a strong central charismatic strong-man ideal type leader, rallying his people around a strong sense of National unity, based on their traditional culture, religion and ethnic group at the forcible exclusion of everyone else, for "purity's" sake. Individual rights and much of the current GOP/MAGA camp ideology would be seen as "soft" and a symptom of cultural decay
Culture is going back to how it was in the 2000s
So like Spice Girls?
lmao. Welcome my fair weather friends!
Why did we abandon libertarianism? Did Ron Paul really fail us that badly?
Because it holds no sway in our politics. I've read Rothbard and Mises and Block. But their (correct) worldview is just not appetizing when your opponent is promising subsidies.
Libertarianism also took for granted an intrinsic Christian, mostly Protestant, ethic and mortality that communists were easily able to outmaneuver
Morality
The party was infiltrated by leftists
Because it’s naive.
The right can’t really make something like “The New Yorker”. Which is boring, self aggrandizing and haughty. MAGA is more blue collar. Conservatives are about communities, family and faith. It’s generally not cool. Conservatives have the biggest groups on Facebook, not sure about the younger conservative groups. It owns podcasts and AM radio. Long format and thoughtful content.
You cant make it top down. You have to look at the idea space and determine where there is space for novelty.
AI is an obvious answer. Fashion is easy target because it is so awful tight now.
Frank you missir Lufo
The Christofascist* Right is Ascendant
There. Fixed it for you.
I am not a Christian. I have no interest in Christian compassion. It's people like me who are ascendant. Cope.
What we are l seeing now is not fascist. It's centrist if anything. We are basically going back to the 90s...
@@angryturtle777 Bazinga 👍🏽
Christianity was not even mentioned in the video
@seguismundoxavier426 some people see Christian nationalism around every corner hahaha
Important documentary, should have been Oscar nominated: Behind the Looking Glass at Lime Soda Films yt chan. Not "what is a woman," what happens to a woman when husband says he is.
I'm so sorry. I can't imagine anything being said that could heal such a wound. I hope time and God will do the work for you/others.
