We’re back this week with the writer and publisher Lomez, who will help us sort through
President Trump’s blizzard of executive orders. We also discuss the controversial New York
Magazine coverage of the Right’s Inauguration celebrations and a strange cult of transgender
computer engineers who are allegedly involved in a string of murders.
All that and more in this week’s podcast.

You've got the continuity backwards in relation to Rationalists and the AI Doomerism. Yudowsky got into AI doomerism first as a spinoff from immortality discussions on cryogenics discussion groups, then when people weren't convinced by him, he was convinced everyone else was irrational. Thus, he started the Rationalism movement to make people "more rational" (by believing what he says and converting to AI doomerism). The Rationalism cult movement combo of "shut up and calculate" Benthamite Utilitariansm, psyche hacking etc got big on its own somewhat, but it was always meant to be an onramp to the AI doomer cult stuff.

Yeah I was looking for somebody to say something about the [Bay Area] Rationalists. I’m friends with a lot of them, and lived in a Rationalist group house (not quite a commune) at one point in Berkeley. Spent more time in the Boston community in Cambridge, but I thought within the Bay Area they were more concentrated in Berkeley. Some of them definitely gave me this vibe of “trans- or trans-willing/supportive free love soup” So I’m not entirely surprised to hear this although I wouldn’t have guessed Vallejo.
But anyways, some dots connect but not all the dots connect - what’s the actual link here, and how far does it truly go or not with regards to the Rationalists being a part of this story centrally or peripherally?
But yeah when you sever your connection to your intuition-based right-brain in worship of perfect rationality and logic only, you leave yourself vulnerable to being led into a logical argumentation based on-ramp into a cult, which in its self-pursuing logical-extreme conclusion turns out to be about AI doomerism and AI risk/alignment etc.
Still incredibly impressive as an entire accomplishment & body; but still-

The idea of minimising pain and maximising pleasure as a total philosophy actually goes back to the British 19th century Utilitarian movement, which pre-dates the modern Marx-influenced left. It was contemporary with Darwinism, which is just the original form of New Atheism. The leading light (sic) of Utilitarianism was Jeremy Bentham, now widely regarded as autistic. There isn't much new under the sun in the ideological landscape, although the terms "left" and "right" seem to get progressively less and less clear!

Each of these philosophers experienced culture similarly. They may have vastly different experiences in the same "sandbox of culture" for lack of a better term. The same can't be said of the countless modern autistic people who've adopted transgenderism as way to understand how they fit within culture. The sandbox in which they have played in is vastly different than anything that pre-21st century technology could offer. We as a species are venturing into unknown waters where history itself is unknown or so vastly different from the present that it no longer serves to inform as history once did.

"Martine" Rothblatt is a transgender transhumanist billionaire who puts a lot of money into backing trans stuff and also has a lot of investments in e.g. womb factories, biotech etc. One of a bunch of similar dudes who put a lot of money into foundations which among other thingsend up warping our kids in schools. easy to google him.

To fellow males, why are we talking about women’s menopause? Do you think women would be crafting an intellectual point on the basis of men’s sperm counts? How was this even pertinent? You were meaning to suggest the middle aged woman isn’t filling in her time with children if she didn’t have them when younger. Pretty straightforward. Instead you had to go to the “post menopausal” as if that’s degrading to her? It just will always sound sexist no matter how you dance around it. No need to bring up her fertility - none.
I was about to subscribe too lol

@@chriskucia8348As a post menopausal woman, there are plenty of women with zero psychological effects from menopause. Many don't even notice a change except not having to bother with it any longer. It's like the women who complain about childbirth. Eunuchs in history have always been used as advanced slaves, and they became so powerful that they overthrew the Chinese government during the first Eunuch Era between 2070 and1600 BCE. This is real history, and I don't understand why you would want to censor this information.

3:18 Lomez] "There was this loss of a kind of a spiritual life, as we know people need a religion in some form."
Let's define our terms. Religion is an endogenous function of the human psyche that keeps our lives united to a sane psychology - call this religion 'B.' Everybody has religion 'B,' if they are sane, your religion 'B' might be the pursuit of: money, fame, wealth, or even disinterested intellectual capacity, knowledge for the sake of knowledge. Religion 'B' can be perfectly compatible with nihilism. On the other hand, religion is also, to paraphrase Saint Thomas Aquinas: 'A habit of virtue that inclines the will to give the right worship due to God,' - call this religion 'A.' Religion 'A' being the higher order, transcendental version of religion 'B.' Religion 'A' in incompatible with nihilism, and is what all humans are meant to be pursuing.

"Brain in a Body" is a trend that goes back to atleast Gnosticism. The mind isn't a Spirit trapped in a in a purely naturalistic body, nor is the body just a fleshly interface for the mind. Mental processing isn't just done via the brain, but the entire body, your diet and digestive system effects your mind as a much as the brain.
There's a reason why ASD and Gerd have a high correlation, with many studies that show negative symptoms of ASD can be greatly reduced via diet. Thus likewise many symptoms of ASD and body dysphoria ( especially sensory ones like body hair ) overlap. Online the common archetypes for the "Autist" and "Trans Egg" overlap in many details.
-Large oversized clothes to to accommodate for sensory issues or covering undesired features like adam's apple.
-Hyper fixation on transitionary objects like the "blahaj" or other plush dolls, either for senory comfort or as a stimming mechanism
      - General discomfort or sensory distress from body hair or other features like one's chest or body odor. ( Aslo this don't just apply to men, the a large portion of women who get "top surgery" are often Autistic as well )
-Genaral interest in Manga, Furries or some other niche hobby, often with some aspect of escapism or self-insert, such as having a personal OC, Fursona or "Kinnie". ( "Therian" and "Tulpas" also count and overlap, but that opens up an entirely different theory of mind )
      - And finally the subject of the video, expertise or "savantism" in regards to computers or any highly technical field, for example Medicat, a USB Toolkit based on Ventoy which is commonly used use for Desktop Support, was created by Jayro who identifies as "NB"
This goes to a certain extent were i honestly believe it to conspiratorial in some way, either for mere profit or some measure to keep Autistics from reproducing. Either way i see as a threat to our future bloodline, as i do believe we can manage to provide benefits to greater Society, or even manage to develop our own cultures, like Martha's Vineyard.
