- At Westbank Anglers, we've been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the new Helios fly rod from Orvis. The new Helios, considered by many to be the Helios 4 or H4, is a phenomenal fly fishing rod that we've loved using for everything from trout on the Snake River in Jackson, Wyoming, to saltwater flats throughout the world to take on permit, bonefish, and more.
In this video, Westbank Anglers' Mike Dawes dives into the all-new Orvis Helios. With over a year of use and five (really six) different countries of fishing, Mike has certainly put these rods to the test.

Just when you think it can’t get better it does 🔥
got all I needed to know in the first 7 seconds 🤣🤣🤘
Hook keeper and I’m all in.
just use the stripping guide like the rest of us.
What do you think about the 8,5 8 wt and which lines you recommend?
I tried it, sorry not enough better than the H3 to get one if you already have an H3. Plus, they didn’t fix lack of hook keeper and the white label, the two biggest complaints of previous series. If you see a fisherman wearing camouflage clothing 100 ft away standing completely still across the stream from you, then they cast with one of these rods, you can see the white label moving. With ultra clear water, the fish can see the movement too. Not good for conditions where you need stealth, the white label will spook fish under some scenarios.
