I've never seen the legendary Ashford and Simpson in concert, thank God I was able to see the late great Phyllis Hyman in concert. I've got to get to New York to see the legendary Valerie, the great love of Nick's life. Pray for Valerie because today 8/26/11 is her birthday and I'm sure it's not easy after celebrating almost 50 years with her husband. It's good to know that God will be her comfort and strength, not just today but for the rest of her life.
This was during the Ashford & Simpson: Going Home Special which aired on Disney Channel on August 27, 1988. It included other guests including Nick Ashford, Valerie Simpson, Roberta Flack, Ben E. King, Paul Schaffer, Cissy Houston, Phyllis Hyman and Special Guest Stevie Wonder.

What A treat to have all that Talent and Wonder in One Room but that's what Ashford and Simpson brought out everytime they appeared. The True Talent Showed up and Showed Out. Amen... Here I see Cissy still strong and profound but now she has really aged and weakened no more of these joyful moments.. The Simpsons the love and bond they had that now it is broken and irreparable. Life is really a ball that keeps turning!
