Hellevator is a very special song for straykids. Its the first song they all wrote together in 2017 when they were in their survival show predebut. They’ve already came so far together. And this song is specially impressive considering most of them were 17-19.
Despite the big implications we all thought, the music is actually about having an obsession. Hyunjin became obsessed with dance and is always training his dance skills, even in his free time. While Bangchan is so obsessed with writing songs to the point that he is famously known for having really big problems with sleeping (there's even a music 'Insomnia', and it's great by the way lol). They are both chained with their obsessions to the point that it affects them physically and mentally. But at the same time that it affects them negatively they still love the thing they are obsessed with. So yeah, you got really close to it !

red lights uses bdsm as a metaphor for being workaholics. Chan and Hyunjin are both insane perfectionists who tend to overwork themselves and although it can cause them pain, it also brings them pleasure. Sex is used as a metaphor for compulsion to work. It's painful and exhausting but also brings them satisfaction. It's actually genius in my opinion!

My interpretation of oh my god is literal, like talking about another woman making them feel things they never felt before, the love is addictive like a drug but there's a lot of black and dark imagery maybe because in some religions, same sex love is sinful.
Since the song is quite metaphorical, it can be taken a lot of ways though I'm sure, that's why I prefer songs that r written this way so ppl can assign their own meanings to the lyrics

One of my favorite experiences is sitting in an arena in Germany for Kpop flex not too long ago and hearing the entire stadium sing Oh my God together. Everyone just went silent right before the chorus and all together sang Oh My God, it gave me goosebumps

iKon is great ! I strongly recommend 'Killing Me', their cooler MV, but also 'B-Day' their funniest MV, maybe 'Dumb&Dumber' is funnier but I personally can't contain myself with b-day.
As to iKON this was really just B.I and Bobby and not the whole group (you see them at the end of the video). I suggest Killing Me by iKON. Love the solo stuff by both B.I and Bobby. If you like hiphop, iKON is great
I recently watched the survival show that Stray Kids did. I was very impressed by how hard these kids worked to make their dream come true. Bang Chan literally put this group together himself from the trainees in their company, he writes the music and produced with the others helping to write the lyrics. This is very unusual for KPop groups which are usually put together by their companies and music is written by others for them. Be prepared to cry though, it gets tough for them at time.
I just recently saw their survival show as well and I was shocked that they created this song (Hellevator) at the beginning of the show, not at the end as I had assumed previously. The survival show was a roller coaster even though I knew the end result. It makes me appreciate and love Stray Kids more than I could ever imagine. I really understand their lyrics more and why they keep an upbeat tempo in so many of their songs that have emotional lyrics. Then seeing their Kingdom performances and after seeing them live in concert . . . WOW! Can’t get enough of SKZ.

Red Lights is specifically about compulsion. They wanted a sexy song that could also be interpreted for other things. There’s a video on Hyunjin and Chan coming up with the concept while in a hot tub together.

Anthem is sung just by Bobby and B.I. and it basically is a song about the two as a rap duo and as friends. You should check out more stuff from ikon but also B.I's solo work since he has left ikon these past few years.
Also just wanted to say that I've been binge watching your videos these past few days and I love them. I get to rewatch some classic kpop songs and feel the excitement of experiencing them for the first time !
RED LIGHTS does have a spicy seeming video but the song is actually describing a dependence on fans and the inability to disconnect from being an idol. The lyrics "i stay up all night / the moment I close my eyes / all I see is red lights" describes staying up all night to make more music/content. Even when they don't need to. RED LIGHTS = RECORDING LIGHTS. Even when they sleep they can't stop thinking about recording more content for us. This song is a incredibly rare look into the somewhat toxic aspect of idol life and being a workaholic. Though they absolutely LOVE what they do living every waking moment for your fans to the point it disrupts your sleep schedule and not being able to turn off your "work brain" isn't really healthy in the long run. No matter how hard they try and want to please everyone its obviously impossible.
I-DLE - OH MY GOD is about the idea that true divinity comes from knowing and trusting yourself. Purity and sin, light and dark... self love.

I saw stray kids in concert like a week ago and red lights was just 😳😳😳 the worst part was, my mother was with me and she literally leaned over and said “is this what btsm is?”and I almost threw my lightstick in shock lol. But yeah, the performance was amazing!!
OH MY GOD (had to do it)!!! I clicked so fast when I saw the notification, but I sadly I have only seen (G) I-DLE's Oh My God and let me just tell you this is my favorite song from them it's just a whole Masterpiece! And there are many theories on this song like one is about Angels and Devils (you have to look it up, I can't remember) but the main one is about temptation, it's also known as a Lesbian Anthem if you listen to the English Version it is A LOT more suspicious not to mention Soyeon the Rapper (the one you love with the short black hair) wrote most if not all the lyrics! But seriously I love everything about this song not to mention Soojin with her Gorgeous Vocals and her Blonde hair looks GORGEOUS on her (the Blonde and the Red hair on her is EVERYTHING), I can not get over Yuqi's visuals and her husky voice is just WOW, Miyeon looks like a literal Queen/Angel and her powerful Vocals is just Stunning, Shuhua doesn't have many parts in here but near the end she KILLED it she looks so Gorgeous and that SooShu moment was something else (Soojin and Shuhua, you should see the Behind the Scenes Shuhua was so happy about it), and Minnie was just STUNNING and her soft vocals always get me and just everything about her was ICONIC and still is!! Anyways I can't you to react to more (G) I-DLE such as more Music Videos, B - Sides, Live Performances, Covers, Dance Practices, Moments, and of course Ships! You should react to Stray Kids's "I'll be your man" performance on Kingdom. It's a beautiful cover that they made, the original song is from Btob and it's a very difficult song but they killed it. I hope you like it, it's a very stunning performance!!
It would be nice to see the Stray Kids version and then the BTOB original after it. The live version adapted by Stray Kids was great and so is the excellent video of from the original group. It would be a nice comparison.

There are a lot of theories about the meaning behind oh my god and i think there are many different ways to interpret this song, but it is considered to be a lesbian anthem and there are quite a lot of lyrics in the original and in the English version that emphasize the wlw meaning. For example "whatever people say, fall in love".
That is my take on this, but as I said there a different levels of reading
You should check out GIDLE's "My Bag" choreography video. It's the BEST way to experience that song. And if you think Soyeon kills you in "Lion" and "Oh My God", you'll absolutely lose it over all the girls in that video.
I love how shy you got when talking about Red Lights lol ( didn't we all ).You should react to wolfgang performance on kingdom if you want to see more of Chan's back ;). I would also recommend watching the wolfgang performance on their comeback stage since Hyunjin wasn't there for the kingdom one as he was on hiatus at time plus I prefer the camerawork on the comeback stage a lot more.
It's interestingting to have Anthem be the first iKON song for a person to react to since it's just the rap line, but it is definitely a great and fun track. Honestly I think iKON has the best discography of any boy group, they just have so many great songs of all different types. I feel like iKON clearly had major influence on groups that came after them like Ateez and Stray Kids.

Anthem by iKON is actually not all the iKON members, but instead only 2 of them, one of them not even being in the group anymore. The member and ex member is Bobby and B.I but not any of the vocalists. iKONs most popular song is Love Scenario, which is very different to anthem. I really recommend reacting to more iKON since their discography is pretty good, and most of it is overshadowed by Love Scenario. If you're going to react to more iKON maybe react to some full group songs. Love Scenario is their biggest song, with killing me coming in second, if you want their most popular songs. But you is their latest song, and their latest song before that was why why why, that's if you want their latest stuff. Though personally I really like songs like Rhythm Ta, dive, bling bling and Killing me.

Hellevator (predebut) kind of presented the "elevator" element all through out the series. This symbolically let them ascend from the "hell" that their lives where in before they debut, and was a recurring element in the concepts whenever the storyline moves from one place to another. the elevator was all ragged down and burned in the Levanter MV, which I think bears a symbolism which I'll explain later, once you'll react to the MV.
You can also notice at the end of the song them being between 2 world ( symbolism that you'll find in Maniac too)

Red Lights was one of my first Stray Kids Music Videos. I had become a Stay and was very fond of their funny videos and personal personalities for a few months before it had come out, but this was I think the third MV I had ever seen (The first two were Thunderous and CHEESE). I... it was super weird for me because I watched it with my mom- yEaH.

One who've known them from a long time and their journey, I've always thought about ''what it would be like if one of them didn't debuted'' whenever I see Hellevator and that makes me tearful. Every one of the subunit songs from no easy (Red lights, Gone Away, & Surfin) are so good. And so different. This one...for reasons that are obvious, got the strongest reaction, but truly truly Gone Away is stunning and Surfin is just bright sunshiney fun.

I read somewhere that red lights was about obsession. They are both known about their workaholic tendencies and not sleeping enough. It is open to interpretation and beautiful. One of my favourites. 💜

Red Lights is from their NoEasy Album last year, there are 3 sub unit songs in the album and the other 2 are Surfin by Changbin, Lee Know and Felix and Gone Away by Han, Seungmin and I.N. For the sub unit songs they had a special series called 'Song Camp: Howl in Harmony' it has 5 episodes it was basically them being in sub units, deciding on the genre, lyrics, vibe, mv and all that. For Red Lights they have an ot8 ver. And they literally performed it on their concert with chokers in front of their parents💀 Chans mom and Sister was there from Australia and Felix's mom too🤣+ Chan recently showed us the raw vocals of the ot8 ver on his vlive😍
Ok I have just been on a RIDE and I love it. TH-cam suggested your videos to me today and as someone who loves seeing peoples first reaction to Stray Kids (and obviously Felix), I had to watch. Now I am at part 11 binging almost all of your reactions. I love your videos! I literally couldn't stop. (And your reactions to Felix do not disappoint lol we have all been there).
Also thanks to all the stays for suggesting Red Lights 🤣 on their tour right now they are also singing an 8 member version of Red Lights and it's freaking amazing. Anthem is actually a song by just 2 members of ikon (bobby and B.I) and not the entire group. Bobby and B.I are both top 20 kpop rappers with bobby being top 3 so of course, they'll have great rap.

It's a link between those fated to meet and sometimes that is to be love or other times it takes on darker meanings. The meaning alters slightly by culture but typically is generally the web of fate as we would call it in the "West"
If you enjoy contemporary dance, I LARGELY recommend WAYV's Ten & WinWin's cover of Billie Eilish's "Lovely". It's so beautiful, I don't think I ever NOT cry when I see it. They choreographed it, chose the set, the song...everything themselves.

Love your take on red lights. I interpreted it as Hyunjin taking control over his cravings. At the beginning Chan has the chain around Hyunjin and when they do their choreographed dance in the hallways they are side by side identical to reach other. Also when Hyunjin is choking Chan it’s not with much force or grip, while Chan is much more forceful. Then they meet at the table and after than Hyunjin is only tied with ropes which shows less restraint that chains, indicating he’s gaining more control. After that their synchronized dance shows that Hyunjin is closer to the camera than Chan like he’s getting away from him, and then at the end Hyunjin has his hand around Chan’s neck so now he’s in control. I thought this was a beautifully made song and video.
My favorite and personal interpretation of Red Lights & the MV is that of struggling with sleeping disorders like insomnia, stress dreams, and sleep paralysis. Bang Chan has talked about his insomnia before and he's also described in a vlive how he recently tried to go to sleep early around 10pm, but ended up having nightmares and actually falling into real sleep around 1am. He said that he would start to drift off and then start thinking about "scary stuff" (I'm rewatching the clip right now) and realized he was about to fall into a nightmare and would force himself back awake. Essentially, fighting against stress dreams/nightmares for literal hours before actually falling asleep. He’s also talked about how his has a sinus issue that can cause him to have dreams where he can’t breathe, and then he wakes up and is actually struggling to breathe.
Then, in Hyunjin's case, he is a very deep sleeper and has talked about an experience in which he had sleep paralysis and saw a demon walk out of his closet and stand over him--kind of like how Chan stands over him on the bed in this video.
Everything about this video feels like a stress dream/nightmare or sleep paralysis experience to me. The chains, the confinement, the haziness and the looming presence while you're trapped on your bed unable to move. The anxiety of it all. It's a bit "Bury A Friend" by Billie Eilish, but not as violent. Chan's also a workaholic and the lines, "No matter how hard I try to run away, set the mic up / until the moon falls asleep, even deeper" makes me think of him spending late night hours in his studio, working and recording guides and not sleeping.
I love how many layers this song and MV have the potential to have-yes it’s a very spicy song & MV, but I’ve seen people find metaphors about workaholism and fame buried within them as well! It shows how clever and talented these men are.
Pagan, I think you'd be interested in watching the SKZ SONG CAMP which was a 5 episode series on their official channel following Stray Kids as they wrote songs for their NOEASY (NOISY) album. They split into three groups with a producer in each (i.e. Bang Chan, Changbin & Han) and then workshopped a song each. The results were RED LIGHTS, SURFIN' and GONE AWAY respectively (MVs available for all). Bang Chan and Hyunjin discuss the whole obsession theme while hanging out in a hot pool, which I thought was so funny! In the fourth episode they play their rough songs to the rest of the group for feedback, and the rest of the members' reactions to hearing RED LIGHTS for the first time are hilarious! That album (NOEASY/NOISY) went on to win them BEST ALBUM (Bonsang) at the Golden Disc Awards 2022 and was their first album to sell over a million copies. Which makes those behind the scenes crafting of songs for it even more special. You may not want to watch them with us, but I do suggest you watch them as you'll enjoy both watching the Kids work, but also their personalities. 2. Know that STRAY KIDS and ATEEZ are big fanboys of iKON and they said they looked up to them. They revealed this on KINGDOM 2 where they also share the program with iKON.
