  • Back when I was working for URM, a large development was completed in the major suburb of Dee Why, known as “The Grand”. This was the very first apartment building in the former Warringah council area to utilise bulk bins for waste and recycling, with all existing blocks using 240L MGBs. A large group of Sulo 660L containers was delivered to this site, mostly with red lids for garbage, a decent amount with blue lids for paper recycling and the rest with yellow lids for bottles recycling. These bins were emptied weekly on Wednesdays by different JP5 rear loaders operated in the Warringah contract at the time.
This video features old 122 collecting the paper and cardboard with a few champ co-workers on the job. The sound of this truck revving in this loading dock was awesome, loved hearing the engine kick in for each prime and pack stage. For a period there I used 122 on garbage to do this place and always looked forward to it! During the video you will notice the sweep blade curling over the material as it rises - the ejector needed to be retracted a touch to free up space in the body.
