    i picked up the lidl ultimate speed ULGD 5.0 few days ago and its the C1 revision. what iv noticed compared to the A1 variant is that the C1 runs a lot cooler, barely warms up and its voltage display is more accurate than the A1 version. well worth it for the money.

    Good review cheers. I agree that if your battery has only 2-3 volts in it these smart chargers will not charge. What I did was, I hooked up my battery jump pack a couple of times for 20-30 seconds each time and it brought the charge in my battery up enough to be able to set a 'mode' on the charger and away it went.

      Issue there you cant have it dual voltage, smart, and able to recover severly discharged batteries at the same time at least not easily.
      And if its not smart (lets you override the charging logic) someone will try to charge 6V battery as 12V and it will boil off all the acid or explode in their face and Lidl gets sued.

    • @UltimateDIY
      @UltimateDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The chargers need to be smart because people are not as smart as they used to be.

    Honestly the charging indication could improve. I didn't even know if it was working until few minutes have passed and the voltage started to raise. Yes I read the freaking manual. Yes the battery symbol is blinking but it made no sound I didn't have to press anything to actually start it. Just put it into car mode and it starts automatically. Very awkward.

    Great video again, I think that I've watched every single video that you've done on your b8. I was wondering if you had any problem by not disconnecting the battery from the car as the manual says. I would like to purchase a battery charger for my b8.5 as well but I am afraid of frying any electrical part of the car. As you said in the video, it's a pain in the .. to disconnect that battery every single time you want to charge it

    • @UltimateDIY
      @UltimateDIY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks!
      I honestly have no clue, but I think about it like this. As long as you can jumpstart the car with another car or a lithium battery jumpstarter, I think using such a charger should be ok. If it's not...time will tell.

      Good question, but I don't have an answer. Some say it's ok, others that it's not. For me, it seems to work and I had no problems. But, I never power on the car when the charger is connected. Maybe this is important 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Can you help me please. I bought a new Motorcycle battery before winter. Then I took it out and stored at home. Every month for about 4 months, I powered it with this one to full. When spring came, I put battery in moto...and won't start. Bought new one, got to go. Am I doing something wrong with maintainig? Ty 😊

    • @UltimateDIY
      @UltimateDIY  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry, but I am not familiar with moto bateries. If it were a car battery, I would say it had a problem from the start. It should not have died in 4 months, even if you charged it only once, not to mention 4 times. Just think for how long a battery waits in a store before it gets bought and it's still ok.
      Or, maybe your charger is defective and somehow damaged it, but never heard about something like this.

      @@amonty2005 yes it has that program and desulfatisation program starts when the battery voltage is 7.5v, then the impulse is going to 10.8v, then it starts with motorcycle mode (but you can change it to car mode)
      And yes the voltage is blinking indicating that the desulfatisation mode is ON
      It will do the job!
      And last thing, if the battery voltage is below 7.0v the charger shows error
      If it helps just jump it with another battery or old non smart charger to above 7.5v then reconnect lidl charger.

      I had to replace the body control module on my Fiat 500 after charging with the battery still connected to the car. Can't say for certain that was the cause, of course. Thankfully, I was able to get a used unit reprogrammed otherwise it would have cost more than the car's value for the replacement.

      That I have no clue. Normally I'm thinking the aftermarket battery itself should have some electronics that handle the charging, because the bike probably treats the battery as a lead acid one. So it might work, but might also fail with fire and explosions.

    • @UltimateDIY
      @UltimateDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends a huge lot on the capacity of the battery and the starting charge level. Not possible to tell clear numbers. But, as an idea, for a really discharged and big battery it can take even close to 24h. For a small and not so discharged battery, maybe a few hours.

      @UltimateDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nothing can really revive an internally damaged battery. And staying discharged under a certain voltage for too long will do internal damage. About the charging time, just do a quick calculation. For an 100Ah battery that is 50% discharged it will take a theoretical 10 hours at 5 amps to charge it. But that will never happen, in reality it will be about 15 hours maybe due to loses and current variation.
