I wanted to see what would happen, so I built a decent power supply for my Prozor.
The specs on the chips used in the Prozor are really good, so it seemed like this
could really help. The cost was about $100 and the upgrade is seriously great sounding!
If you are interested, post a reply with your email in some encoding scheme and I'll email
a parts list and instructions to you. For some reason, TH-cam wouldn't let me post links and a long comment.
You could substitute the battery as the source in this supply. Batteries may be noisier.

@mikeconnell698 Hi can you please share in more detail what you did to upgrade your Prozor dac🙂

@@ominchord Two Things. 1) Do an internal mod. 2) Build a beefier power supply that costs more than it does.
For the internal mod, Hans Beekhuyzen examines a DAC with the same internals but different case and labeling. There is distortion that occurs on negative peaks. This video proposes a workaround for the problem (disabling the FETs)

I haven't been using it for about two years.
I made a beefy power supply but since I haven't been using it, its tucked away somewhere, and not sure where it is. I remember it had a much higher current rating than what was provided - like 50x.

@@mikeconnell698 thank you so much for taking the time to reply Mike! It is very interesting what Hans Beekhuyzen says in his video about this little thing. I just got mine recently from Aliexpress it has the Prozor brand name on it it is slightly different from the one Hans has mine has 3x 100 10v vt capacitors in the analog section instead of one. Apart from that they are the same. I am going to remove that FET and get a good audio-grade power supply.

hey man, if you still have this one, i just saw a guy removing the output fets and soving the clipping on the bottom part of the sine wave. (the video tittle is "The remarkable story of the € 24 DAC") Greetings from Argentina.

Thank you for comment, but I have found the vid you talking about, So they are not the same.
The one I have reviewed actually can do 24/192 and it has different interface chip
But the DAC chip and output FETs are the same ( I originally thought those are BJT for amplification/buffering )

@@InsideOutElectronics if the output section is the same you could try that mod. I didn't understand one thing: you version has BJT instead of FET transistors?

@@jonayamaha3215 No-no, those are FETS, I was wrong originally.

I ordered one for my tv to hook up to my rogue audio sphinx through my kef ls 50 metas. I already have a bluesound node 2i for streaming and didn't want to buy an expensive dac for just tv. we'll see how it sounds

@@InsideOutElectronics I like it so far. it works well with hulu and netflix and my remote still controls volume. I can't really tell it sounding bad but I'm going from using my built in speakers to using my kef ls 50 metas so it's a huge upgrade from that. I'm 100% sure a more expensive dac will sound better but for what I'm using it for its perfect

honestly, these are solid DACs, been using one with volume control for a while and is flawless. However, I power it using powerbank to get the cleanest DC signal, rather than a walwart that comes with free electrical "noise" 🙂

Well... power bank still can have switching noises due to boost converter in it. But definitely no mains 60Hz and associated junk.... :D
Are you using it with optical or coaxial ?
