- I thought Sethos was going to be much worse, but I found a way to play him that made me love him.

Did you notice Sethos' damage dropping after 4 CAs? During recording I was mostly thinking I was just losing buffs like VV, but what I didn't realize until after I edited this video was that Sethos' 700% EM passive is lost after 5s or 4 shots hitting. Which means the indefinite CA playstyle isn't ideal compared to hybrid CA/burst playstyle. So the "proper" way to play a high ER 4pc TF Sethos is to do 3 or 4 CAs (depends on your energy situation), then use skill into burst and do N2 combos with walk canceling. But this also means someone like Baizhu applying dendro off field may be notably better since quicken would need to be refreshed before bursting on Sethos with Kirara (though you could maybe run a normal Wanderers Troupe build and swap to Kirara in the ~3s skill downtime). Regardless, I could still clear the abyss with the non-ideal CA spam playstyle, so how much does it _really_ matter? That will probably depend on the level of your account investment. And I also definitely prefer the CA spam playstyle for OW still.
Originally I was planning this video to have Sethos @ level 80 and seeing if he felt fun enough to earn being level 90, but then I realized he had enough interesting ways to be played (such as the high ER build I used this video) that he ended up being a much more satisfying unit to play than I expected.

Lastly, for any spreadsheet impacters out there, Sethos IS amazing by my personal standards. I'm not claiming he is the best electro carry in the game, but he has far exceeded my expectations, and is worthy of being called "amazing."
Considering all of his CA trigger reation maybe it is better for Fischl? Though then you lose out on C6 so maybe it is the same wither way.

Yeah thats the main reason he feels pretty good with the CA spam playstyle despite the dmg falloff from his passive being lost. The team itself didnt lose that much dmg performance since Fischl is still doin her thing

I didn’t have it as bad as you but I went to pity for 1 Sethos and got Clorinde, I love Clorinde don’t get me wrong but I was kind of hoping saving my guaranteed for Furina
There are too many content creators calling him Garbage and that he's just a worse electro yoimiya.. sure he's not as strong as like C6 Gaming but he's one of the 4-star DPS that doesn't depend on his constellation too much ( looking at you gaming )
I'm glad you like his playstyle and actually took the time to learn about his kit, there's too many people doom posting on Sethos and Clorinde, so I'm glad you're not one of them and for that, you've once again gained my respect
Haha ty. I didnt actually properly learn his kit considering I forgot the 2nd passive runs out but honestly it didnt matter that much. I wouldve probably focused on doing the hybrid burst and CA playstyle if I had realized it though

I'm confused. Gaming doesn't really depend too much on his constellations either? At least in my experience. I'm still hitting hard numbers (100-120k per plunge) at C0, Furina, Kazuha, and Bennett. Is that not good?
@@Feathertail2205 He unlocks a lot from his C6 even A very close Dps Range to some of the best 5 stars and his C4 helps with the energy recharge since his E has A CD for Particel Generation .. at C0 he's fine but you could have unlock so much more and Quality of life from his Cons, imo if youre building gaming expecting for him to be as good as his C6, you better left of building a 5 star dps, but if you really like gaming, go for it
@@PorkyChop-Vincee Ofc many 4-stars benefit a lot from constellations, but Gaming is one of those that are still great even at C0 and I don't think need cons for people with limited primos to spend. My Gaming is on Rainslasher and he clears abyss almost as quickly as my other C0 5-stars that have better stats and weapons. I don't see the same with Sethos. At C0 he's alright, maybe even a little clunky with the energy recharge mechanic on charged shots, so that he's kind of forced to run with another electro (along with already required dendro for aggravate) or play a more burst-focused style. I'm assuming his C6 cons is designed to fix that. But anyway we were talking about Gaming not Sethos, as in my experience he feels totally good to play without extra cons.

I just wanna say thank you for giving a lot of characters a chance that most people would write off immediately. This video even encouraged me to pull on the banner just for Sethos (who I thankfully got in one 10 pull)😊
Im at the point i really dont care about power level and just want to build fun characters (like Freminet), so I'd love to build and play Sethos. I was sold on him from the moment we met him in Cyno's story quest and I got a feel for his personality. I guess I'll just hope he dops randomly from the standard banner somehow since I'm skipping these banners for Furina
I’m a Sethos Main and i was so lucky to get him C6. At the moment I play him with Furina, Nahida and Baizhu. The Weapon i use on him is Hunters Path. Thank you for the video, i will try the animation canceling. :)

Sethos has a fascinating kit, so I figured I could count on Soluna to explore his different playstyles, teams and builds. Pleasantly surprised to see how fun his fast CAs look, so thanks for offering some options for continuing that. I did notice that he loses the big passive bonus damage after 4 shots, but while running around in the overworld, 4 shots is plenty anyway and after 15sec that bonus will come back. (Probably will use fav for this overworld play so I don't have to feed him energy much) Good to know about the walk cancels, for getting out more electro infused shots when using his burst. Anyway, thanks for the video!

I personally used electro traveller to solve his er needs and it felt veryyyy good to me

@@Cajun_SeasoningHYV has a “screw you” approach to Energy design. The only battery that doesn’t need a battery themself is the Raiden Shogun. I’m sure it’s a complete coincidence she’s the only Limited unit in this category…. /s
This is the first time since I started where I immediately LOVED a 4 star. Gaming is cool but I have wayyy too many pyro characters built. As a controller player my favorite bow characters are Tighnari and Yoimiya, so I guess it was fate. While a bit unconventional my overworld team rn is alhaitham, xingqui, Sethos and Clorinde.
Sethos is amazing as long as you don’t use his normal charge attack until you got C6.
Simply use his elemental skill and burst, remember to apply other elements for elemental reaction for quicker burst charging.
And elemental mastery build is best for him.
You see I was actually thinking of building him with Zhongli and Nahida instead, similar to Tighnari's team. I've grown use to Zhongli not even for the shield but the unconditional resistance shred lol
I LOVE using him in Quickbloom with Furina, Nahida and Baizhu. I have an excellent WT, Hunter's Path build for him and my rotations go like 2 CA - E - 2 CA - E then any downtime can just be used to trigger Dendro cores instead.
I’ve been building sethos and he’s now almost fully built but I’ve never considered a team and now I’m watching this I’ve realised my exact neuvi team is one of the best sethos team lmaoo (baizhu/fischl/furina)

dori c4 is actually so good for him with nahida and furina , even tho you dont have a shield the constant healing and energy makes it up for it , also c6 sara with elegy and instructor is absolutely busted if you play him w CA playstyle
Hmm of course I only have C3 Dori lol. And yeah I tested Sara with him in my stream, its definitely one of the rarer decent use cases for Sara, but I still dont love how Sara feels to use tbh, especially in context with my realization that the optimal playstyle seems to be a longer field time sequence of Sethos’ burst AND CAs, but still its good that C6 Sara didnt feel useless for him lol

The team I'm enjoying with Sethos is with Furina, Nahida, and Zhongli for comfort. Surprisingly I'm also having a lot of fun with Furina, Kuki, and Baizhu.
FWIW, I don't feel like building a 3* weapon, so I'll just keep him on Cloudforged. And I have been saving cracked Wanderer's Troupe pieces for over a year, and that set is seamless on him.
I just wish his cons fixed the extremely tight passive buff time he has… when he loses his passive his damage drops to hell
God I really wanna build n use sethos but I am perpetually fischless 😭 I have KAVEH but not FISCHL. Idk maybe my c8 dori will finally be useful 💀

I run him with Fischl, Collie, and Baizhu since I only have him on my experimental f2p account and I don't have Kirara. Baizhu alone just doesn't feel like it's enough dendro application and Collei is actually my next fav dendro support. My opinion is that he's like Yanfei, an overall solid unit that get's better with cons and with investment can be powerful. Powerful enough to out dps a 5 star, no but he'll still carry you. I'm also running him with Slingshot as, apparently that's his second best weapon after Hunters Path and performs much better than the event bow, so very f2p friendly.
I build sethos on em and it gives me around 13k on lvl 70 with decent arrifacts..now I think I should fully build him

I have c1 Sethos and plan to team him with Tignari, Fischl, and Yaoyao. I also have skyward harp so I plan on giving that to him as a weapon. He looks like a fun character so I want to build him at some point.

So far level 80 C1 sethos and he’s my favorite character since Gaming. Such a fun play-style and cool design, who cares what anyone else says the abyss is so easy i’m still clearing it with him, nahida, fischl, and baizhu as a team. It’s refreshing!

Got him to C6 unintentionally while pulling for Clorinde (guess who’s a C2 Keqing haver!!); haven’t paid much attention to him besides admiring his character but this showcase might’ve just changed my mind! His gameplay looks really satisfying and fun.

have you tried c6 Diona with intructror set as replacement for zhongli. On paper it might seem a good replacement as she provide em, heal, and shiel

Got a single copy just for the sake of it & likely won't go al out to build him for a while so slapped on some of my Wanderer's pieces & Alley Hunter just for lolz.
I just play him with tighnari. It's been feeling nice except my level 3 talents on sethos

How does he compare to Keqing?
Dont have a leveled Keqing to properly compare but both work kinda similarly, I imagine most people would find Keqing to be a little better but Sethos has more interesting AoE potential in my mind

Just saw the update stream/pinned comment, but while listening to this I was wondering - why build so much ER to stay on-field for the 6 shots instead of swapping to re-swirl and re-shield at 3-4? I.E... Fischl E/Q, Kazuha E, Kirara E, Sethos E-C3 (E?), Kazuha Q, Kirara Q-E, Sethos E-C3 (or burst here?), repeat. Sorry if that's redundant, I'm a little lost on what the "main" charge attack playstyle people are describing is exactly.
I dont think I usually run out of quicken uptime or VV when doing the 6 CA playstyle, but doing burst + CA playstyle requires redoing VV/quicken. Both playstyles need extra ER, otherwise you are limited to essentially 3/4 CAs OR burst playstyle. You can definitely have team configurations doing what you describe instead, though, extra ER is just about fielding him longer, which shines best in some team comps over others.

If you switch fishl for electro Mc. You can do a lot of the same rhings without needing a specific artifact set of weapon. It will probably end up being a worst twam over all since fishl is busted but its more new player friendly
Yeah I forgot electro traveler exists lol. But fischl is also available in the paimon shop and has regular enough appearances on banner that its kinda easy to default to her. As far as OW experience goes though, electro traveler is fairly easy to recommend
I think if you manage to get c4 kirara she might get higher on the ranking of off field dendro sup, she still doesn't heals but the shields cooldown match up perfectly so
Yeah thankfully I have C3 and we get a free Kirara next patch so that should help with her & Sethos together quite a lot!

In how far is he really different to Tighnari tho? Like yes with his burst its s little more fancy but except for that it seems pretty mich the same with skill then CA
I prefer the high ER longer field time way to play him thus far, but when you just do 3 CAs hes kinda similar to Tighnari except he gets less damage, though in AoE its relatively competitive with Tighnari since Tighnari is relegated to single target
Btw you should pretty much always build enough er to burst on cooldown on kirara
Yeah I realized that after editing, and mentioned in the pinned comment that you can swap to Kirara on skill cooldown when not using 4pc TF

Lol I could use aqua but Im pretty sure just using his E puts him far enough away from enemies to not have the passige unfortunately. I also dont think I have an artifact balance that takes advantage of it either

just a reminder you guys: sethos' burst NA hits are counted as CA dmg, so he's a pure CA on field dps. thundering pulse will not benefit him no matter how good it looks on him 😭😭😭
That is true. But I still use it on him nonetheless lol, it’s his bow for now until I get Hunter’s Path.
@@Kalavalsar you would be better off using slingshot on him. the NA dmg is useless on him and the big crit dmg and slight atkis good, but the 60% dmg boost the r5 slingshot gives is actually better. plus slingshot is easier to lvl up
@@1DMapler18 It’s on my Nari, I only have one R5 Slingshot rn sadly. I could level up another Slingshot once I get its copies again, but I rarely use Yoi these days also I got two TP and one of them is collecting dust, so yeah

@@1DMapler18 R1 Harp (on Fischl), R3 Stringless, R5 Mouun’s Moon, event bows (R5 Ibis, R5 Cloudforged). I don’t think the event 4*s are worth upgrading. In terms of optimal DPS output, he only has 2 best options, right? HP and Slingshot. I’ll just wait for future Chronicled Wish banner featuring HP, so they (Nari & Sethos) can have their own best weapon.
I lost my clorinde's 50/50 to keqing at 84 pity😢. So, in rage i build sethos well now he does 28k charged attack. I pre-farmed everything for clorinde artifacts, talent mets, books etc. Well i think It's time to quit😓
Take it as a lesson to never pre farm unless guaranteed

Thats unfortunate, but as darknight said it is best to plan around what you can guarantee getting from the gacha system. I didnt even prefarm for Sethos because I didnt know if I was actually going to heavily invest into him, for example

First thing I thought when I saw his kit was sethos tighnari quickswap with like fischl baizhu but there are two major issues with that
1. I don't have sethos
2. I don't have tighnari
But I was wondering why no one else tried that, both their up times are low enough to allow a secondary dps and if you like one of their play styles, you should like the others aswell
I plan to do some quickswap play with him still, the only problem is figuring out what to do for interruption resistance or if I just deal with having to dodge (potentially more doable with quickswap)

I discussed that a bit this video, he was on 4pc TF, which I showed the individual pieces of I believe. Fischl was on 4 golden troupe, Kirara on a full tank 2pc 2pc build, and Kazuha on VV.

Is he worth building at c6?
If he seems fun to you I think hes worth building at any con level but it will depend on available supports.
