Wise words at the end Chris.. 18 years ago last week I had a lady go under my wagon in Paris, the poor lady ended up under the middle axle of trailer!
When I climbed under with a Frenchman to check her she was in a right mess and was obviously dead… not a nice thing to see mate at 25.
Company I worked for were great and came out to pick me up 3 days later.. I arrived back early hours of Thursdays morning and he told me he wanted me back in tomorrow and was quite hard and insistent which at the time I thought was out of order considering what had just happened… now I know why because I think if I would have left it I probably would have never driven again!
You really brighten up my day watching you mate.. a true TH-cam star!

Morning ☺️👍🏻, Crane struggling is the new struggle Chris...
Even on these big boys they still don't give you enough time to get to serviceable parts ....nothing is easy !! 😳😳😳
Not many people could get anywhere near those bolts ....at least it's running and the site is now open.
Those lads waiting to deliver will be gutted ....nothing worse !
The back of that van Chris ....wow 😳....made me feel better about my workshop ! Always a positive 🤣🤣🤣 It does feel good to have a decent clean ......and it looks toddy for at least a week ! You've pricked my conscience and I'll have a sort this week !🙏💥

Having worked on highways I can assure you the roads are very dangerous places. We had a crash cushion follow us up the road 8' square yellow board 4 uck off yellow flashing lights huge blue arrow and we would pull up to a job with at least one numpty so close to the cushion they would have to reverse or wait for a gap to build up speed as they came to a stop when we did!

  • @richardlaw5737
    @richardlaw5737 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Well that’s freaky! You talking about the dangers of roadside working, I’ve got a couple of things on order that I’m gonna send you related to just that. I done a 2 day course a few years ago run by Bridgestone on roadside working, absolute eye opener it was. My biggest problem that all of our coaches are rear engined so often I have to work in what they call the ‘crush zone’. Fortunately our company policy’s are pretty robust regarding roadside - no getting fully under the vehicle and if it’s longer than a 30 min job it’s recovered.
Shall we recommend you as a ‘crane specialist’ to that bloke who needs his starter sorting 😂😂😂

the thing that catches drivers out is when they are driving behind another wagon so close they cant see anything on layby so you don't see what's coming , and you dont have to be that close to be unable to see whats on hard shoulder . I always go into outside lane if a lorry is behind me to give recovery space and let driver behind see whats coming but a lot of drivers don't bother their backside .

I'm ex breakdown / recovery Chris, I had 1 job where I was on route with my truck to repair a car in a half width hard shoulder in Worsley Manchester area, it was 45 minutes away and I was cancelled on route and given to a recovery garage (I was being sent to repair it), I got taken in office about 2 week later & gaffer said do you remember the particular job, I said yes, he had report come back that the mechanic who was recovering the vehicle was crushed between the breakdown and his recovery truck whilst loading it, he survived but was badly injured, an hgv ran into rear of broken down vehicle. That might of been me had I carried on, or the occupant of broken down vehicle badly injured. The amount of times ive cleared crash barriers due too hearing tyres on rumble strips I've lost count & also a mirror arm hitting the rear of my recovery truck frame makes one heck of a bang when the mirror glass explodes on impact.

Feel your pain Chris on the crane starter motor, i get jobs like that on a weekly basis. I'm fully mobile and am out on the highway just about everyday and its not nice as here trucks can legally drive 70mph and do if not more, and here they can pull 2x 53ft trailers, or 3x 30ft trailers scares the shit out of me, 10% of drivers slow down to 60kph but that's about it and my van is lit up like a Christmas tree, Blue, Orange, strobes and all work lights on but doesn't make a difference.
    Struggle on me old mate.

Totally agree with you regarding the safety of tyre fitters and mechanics on motorways and these smart motorways are the worst idea ever, But after the deep thoughts and talk I was expecting you to say 'So that is why they can finish there own spray job on that camper' 😂😂
    Keep up the struggle.

You should have a draw on your cabinet just for dumping tools in at the end of every job, that way you’d be able to find anything you want in the draw 😂
