Im a drummer myself, and i followed this tutorial because i love to play songo on drums, but i wanted to feel the piano better, and this explanation was so clear to me that i could actually learn it beyond what i expected, so thank you very much and respect! (great groove btw)
It is one of the clearest tutorials I have seen so far. Still a bit fast for beginners. First time I've seen someone explaining the actual chords in slow motion as well as the harmonies, and the break Eb to return to Em and D.
This isa a fantastic tutorial. My question is what are other rhythmic options and does this note pattern apply to latin music in general or just this melody?
thank you for this. not only is this a great latin lesson but i love that it works both hands. i am going to try and do this with lots of scales thank you!
Come on, shake your body baby, do the conga I know you can't control yourself any longer Come on, shake your body baby, do the conga I know you can't control yourself any longer
Super informative, easy to follow, thank you! One suggestion I'd make is to purchase a pop filter and make sure you're hydrated, as all the little mouth crackles the mic is picking up can drive some people (ie. weirdos like me) crazy :p
I get it. You jump between two chords, and you switch between playing and emphasizing the root and playing and emphasizing the seventh while omitting the root each time you hit one chord. Even though you are only playing three distinct notes at a time, the harmony is more jazzy, because overall you are playing a dominant seven. Pretty cool. You could consider this particular example to be played in G major, which would mean that regardless of what key you are playing, you should be on the vi7 and then V7. So if you were playing in C major, you would start on A min, alternate the octave A with octave G twice, and then go to G maj, alternate the octave G with octave F twice. Repeat forever using both hands.
I'm a guitarist, but I play a lil bit of congas,Tambora, bass and trying to pick up drums. This stretched my fingers so much lol! This would keep me busy for a month lol! I think timbales gonna be easier lol!
Just to clarify: You are actually in the key of D major (not E minor), but the song's two-chord progression is in the dorian mode (E dorian). I know, it's a minor technicality, but some people might wonder about that. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!
thanks, hopefully this will impress the mamacitas
It did?
Deko Dupteb it definitely did

This is incorrect incorrect. E Dorian has a C-sharp in it. He’s playing D dominant seventh chords, with a C natural. He’s an E minor.
Lol yeah the song is in E minor (G major), not in D major.
what's the name of the song/composer?
My fingers still frezz on middle for left and righ hand,, its hard if fast tempo for me😢
Thank you!
What key is this in? I would like to know how to incorporate this in a song as a little latin ad-lib; but I'm not sure what key this would work in.
Well, I gotta learn my octaves first. :)
Sooner or later the distance between thumb and pinky will be second nature. Practise, practise, practise.
Good Stuff bro, thanks
