I am the guy who challenge her in the first episode.
Reaction Instead of response is the running theme with her throughout. She doesn’t have the self awareness yet to pause and wait before she attacks. Actually someone who is more conscious and not fear based can admit their fault and catch it in the moment and express it with vulnerability - IMO the best form of leadership. You only learn this when you move into that stage. That’s hell for her because the ego is so active. Anyone who has done the work and integrated knows this.
As a follower or someone taking a retreat they will never get that healthy demonstration and so that’s why I’ve changed my mind on whether she should be guiding people. If you want to be a healthy woman (or man); find someone who can respond calmly.
If people match her energy and stay there (she doesn’t back down until she wins) basically it becomes a fight - you become the person who has work to do and that’s where she abuses. When you grow you learn that you don’t need to do this to create “resolve” which she teaches.
Her response videos are to avoid taking responsibility and a narrative that will make sense for “fans” especially for those who feel have been helped in some way from her content, which let’s be honest is great and consistent which makes it even more mind boggling.
However… I’ve been at the events, I’ve seen it, I’ve experienced her front and “behind the scenes” - at the big house as she was freaking out about people on social media etc. Little to no composure or calm confidence under pressure - and so now as this hyper spiritual person she claims to be; it’s all coming to be very obvious that she is not that at all, which was my point in the first video when I questioned her around spiritual teachers and the importance of having someone to challenge us to grow. The thing is I have compassion since I used to be that way and I did the work to shift and get it out of me.
I hope this all becomes a catalyst for her to make changes and become better and heal more. I just don’t see it for a while TBH.
Your videos are spot on once again.

💯 The breaking point for me was when she had the opportunity to treat people who feel shame with compassion (what would be in their best interests), and decided to mock them, and then proceed to claim she wasn't technically 'shaming' because she was just 'stating a truth' although it was so clear a deliberate decision to paint something in a unfairly negative light as a dig, intending to make it hurt because she doesn't want 'people with shame' to be respected because they are the ultimate challenge to her rudeness. She wants to be able to insult people without repercussion and have no compassion, and she wants the culture at large to reinforce this. At that moment I realised her 'mission' at heart is not for the good of all, but is entirely self-centred to the detriment of anyone but her. So much for 'ending narcissism', 'belieiving in oneness' and the importance of respecting emotions... 🤨

I have to say from my personal experience also. I am not a fanboy first of all, just for the info. Also I follow many other teachers and prominent people out there.
Long story short, recently was the only time that I have actually done a Completion Process with a practitioner (an acquaintance of mine, that was recommended to me.)
With my therapist, who I gladly see, because he helps me reorganize my thoughts, and put my thoughts together... I have also done actual something more basic, and very similar to the completion process (go into memory, emotion, feel for the inner child memory, freeze it, connect to him, meet his needs, come out.)
However, I was not expecting that after doing CP with the recommended to me acquaintance, that it would 'hit' so much deeper, and that the change would feel so natural deep.
Practitioner is not that old either and does not have "formal training." So I would not go to her to help me through my other issues. But for this single task... which I have felt has had enormous benefit... I would go to her any day, over being guided by my psychologist in literally almost the same, but far less powerful way. Just this task, going through your emotions as a child, validating them, making sense of them and finding them a safe space. The main process has been invaluable.
And a person who looks who can take this kind of knowledge, and funnel it through in a way that is understandable, workable and helpful... I believe is a valuable person too. Sometimes a real change can come outside of the "system"... that then needs to be looked at and 'integrated' into it.

I’ve watched a couple of her videos and, as someone who’s run in some new age circles in my late 20’s, I’m not all that impressed. There’s no joy in her face. I’m not an expert on this in anyway but the people I found who had actually realized something, and I’m talking maybe two people, all emanated joy to some degree. Joy that was born from practice, honesty and care. She comes off extremely stoic and lacking a flexible mind.

If Teal has brought relief and recovery to abuse victims, then perhaps up to this point she offered some kind of healing, but it seems what she's really doing to these people is very unhealthy and toxic. I'm not a Teal Swan expert, only what I have observed on the Hulu documentary. She appears to be, unfortunately, like any cult leader, very self absorbed and unwilling to see anything beyond her own beliefs & opinions. This is classic cult behavior, and most cult leaders in the beginning may have had some positive influences, but as time goes on & more power is forced on wounded people, the dynamics always wind up the same, exploiting vulnerable people for their own gain. Cult leaders care less about the people they have brainwashed to follow them. Instead use these people to feed their monstrous egos.

I've watched teal swan for years and found very good insight into many things, and I will continue to gleem information from her if I feel it is pertinent and good. That being said, there is no way in hell that she is above reproach, I am actually very saddened to hear some things she has said and learn more about how she treats people. The lack of a mentor really blows my mind, she basically compared herself to the dalai Lama and I am confident he would tell you he has had many mentors in his life. And how she treats people who challenge her. I'm even apart of a FB group based in her community, and that's why I came here, because they are signing a petition to get the "raw footage released" as of that will help the damage done already. When I first saw the trailer I was taken aback, it seems like such an attention seeking action for a spiritual teacher, like she wanted the lime light rather than just help people. And now seeing parts of the series, I am blown away by the pure ego, "more spiritual pull than the pope"? He's the head of a world religion, and not one that I particularly like. But catholicism is a integral part of human culture, and she thinks she already so important to humanity that she's right there with the pope, absolutely wild

The good things you take are not hers to give as if they come from her. Anything of good spiritual guidance or truth are other spiritual teachers words that she is repeating and passing off as her creation and thinking mind. It is such a shame that by using others profound gifts of knowledge and much learning and care. She covers her tracks of by using these teachings of old so well. Its money and control based from her stand point and unfortunately there is nothing of love behind her eyes - there is a void. I am glad you are questioning her as a person in her own right and not as the guru she imagines herself to be. Nobody should ever claim to know everything, it is our greatest gift to be able to constantly learn, question and say we don't know, it keeps us interested. I wish you luck and would recommend you try looking at something like I Ching the book of change, maybe listen to someone like Alan Watts who speaks well on it. I personally find her very rude and insensitive to people who are suicidal or very vulnerable, like you said, doesn't consider how it feels for a traumatised person, who hasn't gained a consistent and solid relationship of trust, to be given harsh criticisms. It's like being physically pushed into a corner and being expected to obey her ways or else. Really??? Not at all a professional approach!!! Teal should be banned from dealing with highly vulnerable people! Attacking vulnerable people isn't a healthy key to healing! I hope that suicidal lady sought another proper psychologist and not Teal.
Please correct me if am wrong but,
have you noticed that she doesn't tell that suicidal lady, to seek another psychologist? She says 'we keep turning in circles playing this game'. Well, then direct her to another psychologist and don't attack her by criticising her!

I had never heard of Teal Swan either before seeing the first couple of episodes of the documentary. Teal comes across to me as a bully, she has a concept of herself that the world will be transformed if we all do as she says and when there is resistance on any level, her first response is to push it out of her way. Her mission is so important... (a bit cultish?) that everything and everyone is secondary. I believe she use the word resisting rather than fighting which has an entirely different meaning… But the “poor suicidal lady“that everyone is so up in arms about was being completely combative rude and disrespectful and what would be outright inappropriate for someone in any context to engage someone else at their forum like that!
Everything teal try to engage her with she was like oh no bitch we aren’t going through my pain I’m not here to go round and round and round and you know try to understand anything I’m not gonna work on this I just don’t think there’s anything more… It’s all a bunch of digested hay!! Have you ever seen Tony Robbins speak to people… Now he generally ends in a more empathetic and supportive stance but he also is much more aggressive and antagonistic with people also than I’ve seen it at least I’ve seen. But I am much better acquainted with ribbons also.
It’s just really really super interesting how so many in here all see the same archetypal version whereas I see an entirely different version in the dynamic as it unfolds.
And I agree that some of it at least appears to be toxic and the comments… But that also much may just be the context of the filming like when she says he’ll need everyone to be on the same page… As a leader of a group and especially when you’re dealing with something that serious and possibly explosive… I would want everyone to be on the same page also it’s a united front. And I understand that some people will have more empathy and/or not look at the demeanor or incidentals and just see that that’s a person in pain and they need help but… Not everyone needs coddling and I don’t see that in her suicidal girl I see yeah just some really deceptive brokenness and yes she’s in pain yes there’s obviously a lack of integration, but I think this is her attention getting act, and sometimes just like when the toddler throws themselves down on the ground like you just like wow you wanna throw yourself down on the ground and cry right now OK let me know when you’re done and you walk away you let them you don’t always reinforce peoples inappropriate and unhealthy coping mechanisms especially when if you determine they are entirely being conducted as an attention whore.
Goodness I imagine if all of you people were present when Helen Keller‘s therapist started working with her… She probably would’ve been jailed I imagine and we would never had the gift of Helen Keller being who she eventually became. Because her teacher refused to cuddle to her like everyone else had done and that’s what I see in this girl I see someone that has been allowed to use the fragility of her supposed mental state and idle threats to keep herself in the center of attention and command the show… Look at everyone even we’re all talking about it she has everyone’s command like unless she was catered to we are all going to everyone’s going to criticize teal in hell that she didn’t cater to her enough… To me she is one of the people of the lie as described by M Scott Peck. Why should anyone have to cuddle someone who refuses to even want to attempt to change it or improve it… What can be done with that?
I find it really interesting that you guys both say she’s too aggressive and then also that you can’t force people to you don’t want to do something and that’s it right there like she’s being aggressive like that because if you’re going to refuse to do any work or look at any of the pain or want to go through it and he said you’re refusing to do anything to come out of the pain and you want me to be responsible for it and while you’re calling me names and seeing other nonsensical ranting randomness.
She’s not a mental health professional she doesn’t claim to be a mental health professional and she’s supposed to cuddle someone when they’re blatantly being rude if not abusive… I don’t see it or understand how any of you come to that conclusion either.

Because I am responsible to seek the appropriate help I need for my own needs as lo g as I am able to conduct myself as a semi- or quasi- autonomously conscious sentient being with my own rights and freedoms including self-responsibility and relative free-agency. And within that free agency whatever help I choose or do not choose to seek out specifically, is likewise my responsibility… unless I am a danger to myself or others (which in this case she is clearly stating that she is). And in such a situation where someone is stealing to be a danger to herself or others, then a licensed mental health practitioner, would absolutely be obligated to conduct themselves in a specific and appropriate manner! However I did not see or know that any of the people she was around were licensed mental health care practitioners, and so none of them should be held to a standard as such none of them are claiming to be mental health providers that I know of.
And that was my point more than anything was that you know you can everyone can jump on any bandwagon and tear anyone apart… But that doesn’t make it useful or constructive. It doesn’t even make it matter since the standard applied is not relevant and the whole thing seems personal and ridiculous. I’m not saying that it is all entirely without any merit, but …

Just because she claims to have been a survivor of trauma and thoughts of wanting to unalive herself does not in any way qualify her to help others. @@adamp108 I don't know what you mean by I am too deep. I am staying neutral and am looking for accurate findings. I am questioning both sides and seeing what I find.
The movie is not accurate with the way the scenes are cut and edited. People were pointing out trouble with Teal way before this film was out. This film could have shown us what really happens behind the scenes. Instead, the film creates it's own narrative. And it makes it Tricky when professionals view this as a credible source. There may be parts from the movie that are true and there may be parts that are false but it's hard to tell which are which. And now other professionals who should be reviewing her process are seeing a false version of what is happening. Instead they should be looking at the full workshop videos which are uncut without voiceovers and make an accurate assessment on that.
There are a few professionals who reviewed her with a more accurate assessment. I am not defending her. Just want to have accurate information from a credible source and this documentary is not credible based on my findings. I don't think we should be judging her based on this movie but rather based on other recordings which there is plenty of.

I started writing an analysis comment of his first video response, pointing out all of the logical mistakes and misinterpretations or even misrepresentations he put forward in it, along with irony, but it became not worth the effort in writing what would become a long-form essay with specific citations and time marks to outline his poor thinking and analysis; it was practically the whole video full of irony, hypocrisy, fallacies, and incongruence in his logic; part of the irony is how he claims the way Swan speaks is alluring, yet the way he speaks equally if not more alluring to the layperson - especially when his logic is so loose to be as "flowing" as it is, making most people miss the problems with it because he so "confidently" expresses it and in a flow making it seem like there's far more congruence than there actually is.

It sounds like her response was because she cares and if he could actually articulate why she thinks that's dangerous, then maybe she could help him see a different perspective; if someone doesn't explain themselves clearly though then there's no possibility to put forward a different perspective or understanding that he may find resonates with him, or not, which is likely why she asked specifically.

I couldn’t believe it was being recorded without her being arrested with so many young people I kept thinking there had to be somebody underage in there at some point and that was definitely child abuse. Pay attention to the "muffled" sound in the voices and the "close up" shots, to give viewer a feeling of "confusion and disorientation". Afterall, those who do not interact closely with Teal do find her messaging helpful. However, Teal does seem to be closer to a human than God, in a sense that she herself has limitations. I was glad acknowledged her positive intent while also encouraging an advocacy and ethics filter for her part of the help. Spiritual voices and mental health professionals can both appeal to authority, a cannon of tradition or research, and at the end of the day we’re still just trying it navigate better tools for meeting our needs. I think that speaker modeled personal responsibility in looking at Teal and it’s this is congruent with the reality that mental health professionals can miss the mark with those they help too.

i was speechless watching this. your analysis was absolutely spot on. regardless of whether this is a consistent theme in her practice and programmes or whether it was manipulative editing by the producers, it should not be happening at all. from what i've seen in this youtube video, her interventions are terrifying, misguided and completely not trauma informed. there are so many missed opportunities to deepen the work, be in a place of compassion and understanding and let the client actually explore their issues and get to resolution. but resolution doesn't pay the bills and this whole business model of 'retreats' seems designed to keep people coming back and spending more money, that would be better placed in 1-1 work with a trauma informed somatic practitioner. suicidal and highly vulnerable people should not be admitted into these kinds of things let alone invited to process their trauma with other participants who are not qualified, energetically available to hold space, or able to offer continuity of care. the girl who said 'i feel worse, this is bullshit and i'm not doing it' kind of summed it up. she was taking her power back and she should have been supported in her voice in that moment but she was shut down. some of her techniques are only appropriate for a certain type of person who is at a late stage of their healing and embodiment journey and absolutely not for early stage traumatised clients who have no somatic tools, probably haven't done any challenging shadow integration before and are clearly in high levels of distress, dissociation and confusion. this is quite simply a huge exercise in taking advantage of very vulnerable people in a way that leaves no room for accountability. I can't actually believe what i've watched. i feel terribly sorry for any one who went there with an open heart expecting to find qualified trauma focused practitioners and heal their past and who instead, found new age CBT meets psycho-spirituality and motivational talk about vibrational reality.

i love this analysis! I followed Teal Swan's videos for 10 yrs. i learned and i took only what served me- what is genius about teal swan is that she understands this need of radical presence with and in pain and other things (the live things presented in the documentary are so different from the videos - loool ). i think, i guess, it is time to take under consideration some of her shortcomings and narcissist aspects. still, what helped me from her videos, i keep. and what it is to be condemned, i condemn.
edit: I don't know.. in my case, much of her content helped more than going to the therapist; it feels weird that she is not practising what she is preaching, including what she is repeatedly saying: "to not follow someone that thinks it has the absolute truth" - maybe she is very good at a cognitive level and what she is thinking doesn’t pass at an emotional level; in my case, the information she gave, helped with deep transformation and i want to stress that i didn't paid too much attention to things for which I always had my critical thinking activated also. i took only what served, but it was effective. it is sad that her inner circle and also some clients have a very different experience with Teal Swan. She needs to address, question and to improve what is to be improved in her work and relationships. people that don't question themselves, are raising also red flags, no matter how well intended....

there is something else i want to stress in close relation with the topic. this time, in in regards with "traditional psychology" field - there is a gap that this field doesn’t address very well: the spiritual awakenings, the spiritual, energetic aspect of life and we need practitioners that can understand and effectively, professionally work with people that are going through "spiritual" experiences, because, otherwise, people like teal swan will close this gap; and we must also admit that she is alone on a path that hasn’t been properly, studied, addressed and theorized, that lacks methods and practice. I speak from the point of view of a person, i mean me :) - who from a "normal" human, being interested only in intellectual and pragmatic stuff, like sociology and politics for ex (i still am), I suddenly started to see syncronicities and patterns around me, and other "magical" stuff with which previously I didn't had anything to do, and discarded everything as mere illusions and even stupidity. That was also the moment that triggered a deep interest about understanding my own psychology, behaviour, traumas and looking inside etc. So imagine that these things are happening, people - like me, without enhancements, others triggered by hallucinogenic drugs, or maybe powerful experiences like the death of someone loved, etc - are having all sorts of expanded perception experiences they can't talk about in a normal therapy session, also because the therapists don't have the proper preparation to understand, or at least to "hold" these stories. So, of course you search for other resources because otherwise you will think you went mad, because you want to understand what the fuck happened to you. 12 yrs passed for me from that moment, i integrated the experience, i searched in many directions, i earned also a lot of psychology knowledge - attachment theory is my fav. and what helped in immense ways. what i want to say is that there are gaps both in Teal Swan's approach, but also in the traditional field approach. And now, having dived deep into the both fields, I would vote for a collaboration between the two approaches and understandings of human psyche, suffering, meaning and experiencing. Traditional psychology has better methods, while the spiritual field has broader perspective about the fascinating act of being human and having such complex experiencing of the inner and outer world.

Pop Psych, I dig your take on this. I have a soft spot for spirit talk and off center theories, and also a deep respect for the truth seeking aspect of real science, not $cience where it says what it's paid to say, even if it lies. My take on the Blue Goose is that she's presenting herself as unquestionable and absolute, and then she presumes to 'help' people with issues she's still in hot resistance about herself. I can hear it in her voice; the anger, the revenge, the still wanting to settle a score about the things that her poor clients set off in her dungeons of emotional trauma. I got briefly taken by her stuff through the Tube vids. As always, hind sight 20/20 if you face the true without flinching. I've taken in a few critiques since, I always seek the other angle. This one is best yet, I dig your intelligence and your sensitivity to the nuances of really helping people in distress. This Blue Goose needs a good therapist in my opinion, before she can authentically present as a helper to humanity. It's my opinion that you're not qualified to help anyone with anything you still have hot emotions about. FULL STOP. If you have hot emotions about it, you the one who needs the help. I'm not talking about the fight that rises when truth is threatened. I'm talking about what Teal Swan does, where she has a shallow breath, ice in her eyes, daggers in everything she says. The girl who told her to her face what she said what untrue, that's hot emotion in proper alignment with truth, as I read it. I'm no licensed therapist, but you might say I'm an amateur psychologist from taking the time to read the stuff and do the things to settle my emotional scores. I do astrology. I'd refer clients to people like you if the gravity of the situation revealed a thing I don't have the settled presence to help anyone with. Thank you for doing your thing in this storm of information we currently inhabit.

The thing about Teal is that she is strong but also a human that are present. And what she is looking for is a breakthrough moment of the traumatic experiences. The girl was still in an emotional level of resistent to even want to go further. These kinds of resistance can happen with the "best" therapist in the world.
