    This is the point in the conflict where the Second Praetorian War becomes painfully real for Jason Hunter. Up to now, there has been a possibility the Core Alliance could avoid direct conflict with the dragonkind of the Sarn Empire. But now that his task force has discovered a destroyed battle group, the likelihood of another attack has dramatically increased. What they discover aboard that battle group's flagship, however, is an even more ominous sign things will never be the same.

    Love the dry humor and the pithy descriptions of the brown stuff hitting the oscillating blade.
    Enjoying so many of the characters and their interplay.

    26:15 "Humans had a habit of vigorously manifesting exactly what they claimed to not want - with a generous side of stupidity for good measure."
    Holy smokes... you nailed that one. Hard. Homo sapiens? The human endowed with reason? My ass! Maybe I've grown too cynical over the years, but for a species supposedly endowed with reason, we as a species are remarkably bad at learning from mistakes - despite our claims to the contrary - which only reinforces the point made above..

    • @JRRodriguez-nu7po
      @JRRodriguez-nu7po 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1- doing what you don't want is especially true for women
      2- the full 5 course meal of stupidity on purpose belongs to men (see shows like jackass or extreme sports)
      3- the main distinction between humans, even the most primitive society, and all other animals is homo religiosum...and the making of fire.

      There is a reason we don't lean from the mistakes of others. We think we can do better than those who came before us, we can do it better, they didn't have the information we have today, so we are able to succeed where they failed, of course a bad idea cannot be salvaged, we always think we can do what others failed at. But this is usually the first step towards failure. The next step is thinking our ancestors were not as smart as we are, a formula to failure because our pride is strong.

    • @ranekeisenkralle8265
      @ranekeisenkralle8265 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@John-100 that certainly plays a big part in it, yes. Another is our tendency to fall for group-think. Just because a given group says something is supposedly a good idea, doesn't mean that group is correct. But many tend to accept it as such without questioning it themselves.

    • @John-100
      @John-100 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @ranekeisenkralle8265 group think is indeed an issue, as leaders lead their counties they want followers to cooperate so they nurture this tendency. After all, they are in charge and want cooperation from everyone, so they leverage media and social influencer to move the agenda forward with the least resistance.

      I mean, humans have a large scale for being really smart, and then stupid as hell. Look at Hobart (the British commander who invented "Blitzkrieg" and a bunch of tanks to take beaches on D-Day) we have people like him, and then we also have people who don't know the difference between Yemen, and Ramen. I'm sure we'd have people who are more on the Bright Side going into space since it's terrifying and if dumb people are going into space as well, then Darwin is gonna be handing out quite a few awards.

    The term is as you were. I know you've seen movies and listen to stories wherere you've heard them say at. Ease or as you were. At ease you take a position of at ease. But you're still standing. As your ruler means go about your business. Such a high ranking officer would definitely have a aid. And it would be the aid that would give the order as you were as they entered. Then the high-ranking officer would step in. But everybody would just keep their head down now I contact and do their job. This is something the wet navy would understand. Just like walking clockwise around the ship. And the term make way.

    Too many story arcs at the beginning. It adds boring spots wondering about what any of the many views will mean in a long long story. Personally I would have stripped down... always start an action story "in the action" then explain what has happen in the past through conversations within the community. It was almost impossible to wait until 1:24:00 for the actual hint of action to start. Gaack! Should happened within the first 15 minutes... action, slow down-explain, next action set... so on to the hinted at resolution at the end. Many writers do this. Sadly I must move along... too little too late.

    When you know there's a war time, there'll be a general and no, that's be 3 generals and all annuals will bow down to generals. No matter what cause they're totally in charge and one general of in charged of all the other generals, that's what they did in war 1 where we're 2 Vietnam. All other say androids are not powerful enough to command everything even though the command Marines and Marines aren't underneath their charge. The charge command and navy, which is under uninstall charge and Air Force, will not listen to them. But they do Respect them and take in consideratiand the same for the navy to the air force.

    This story is extremely badly written. Twenty minutes in it suddenly jumps to 4 months earlier rather than continuing the story to tell some other story. This goes on for ages. It's like a half an hour advert break. This story is a bait and switch. I have skipped through and can't find where they continue the original story. It's just incoherent waffle. Why the hell did you even bother to publish this?
