Its great to use those for more grim storylines that arent world threating ( like Apocalypse, or Sinister perhaps) - but specific team, people threatening, making it more personal.
That's what cartoons should be for: introducing less established stuff, to get it more established. Then Marvel can gauge reactions to see what fans want to see in a movie.
I think your going to get a lot more. Those psychic visions that both Madelyn Pryor and Jean Grey were getting in episode 5t could be another Scott Summer child Rachel Summers. She the daughter of Jean Grey, she was even more skilled psychic than her mother and had the ability to send messages into the past. The creator of the show is promising that the three part finally is going be wild.
Rogue being a villain before her time with the X-Men, especially one who has canonically killed people before, really shows off that darker side in this episode.
True, her past has so much behind the shadows. It is part of herself, that she rarely dare speaks of. But seeing her heart broken. And giving it her all.
I appreciate that the original 90's animated series gave us flashbacks when Rogue ended up needing to tell the team about her past - they covered the absolute brutal mess that is the origins of Rogue's kree based powers after Carol 'woke up' in Rogue's mind and tried to take over. I wonder if people were only aware of the 00's movies version if this episode probably came as a big surprise.
Rogue started out as a villain beating up a whole Avengers team. Not to mention, she was raised by two villains. Her killing Trask out of grief was not out of character for her.
I'd argue that while it's a believable response, it's _very_ out of character for her. She's spent years atoning for her past, becoming the Rogue we know. The way she dropped him shows how far they've pushed her. And how much Remy was the light that pulled her from the dark.
@TheFiddleFaddle Yes, Love her growth, but if you remember, if you read the comics, there were at least two times, the first right after she joined, in Xmen # 173, when fighting the Silver Samuri, that Rogue and Wolverine bonded after she saved Mariko and Wolverine, and nearly died fighting and almost killing the Silver Samuri, and Wolverine kisses her so that she could absorb his healing factor to save her life, the second, was during the mutant massacre in the Morlocks tunnel, after Colossus snapped Whirlwind's neck, she thought to herself that if the Xmen should have to kill, that it will be her or Wolverine that does it, because Peter was kind, and made for gentler things.
@@mrcleane6559 There's the things that we think about ourselves, the stories we tell ourselves, and then there's the actions we take. Thinking "if somebody had to kill, it'd be Wolverine or me," is not the same as doing it. She always had the capacity. What she earned, was the self-control. With the death of Remy, she abandoned the quest to be better that she'd spent years fighting for. She is changed, she is lost, and she's going to need to find her way back somehow. To recognize that Remy wouldn't want her to lose everything she's fought for to her grief.
According to one of the creators, the first few episodes were meant to invoke nostalgia and make us feel like kids again. But episodes 5 and on are akin to us experiencing 9/11, and being forced to grow up and see that the world isn't all that great. And they are doing an amazing job!

Kurt needs line-of--site to teleport. It's not that he can't teleport somewhere that he can't see, but the likelihood that it would kill him or someone else is too high for him to do it.
As someone who only really knew rogue from the movies… damn did they really not do her justice. This version (I guess the real version) is insanely fucking awesome and complicated
Great reaction video, guys! Operation Zero Tolerance has begun. Things are about to get very interesting, gents. And Cable will be the key. He's essentially John Connor for mutantkind. Then they changed things.
I have never in my life trusted a single piece of technology as much as Bastion is trusting that collar in the last scene. One microsecond of failure and every nail holding the building together is going to be jostling for space inside his aorta. My iPhone could never.

I'm SO damn hyped for this ending to season one because the creative team said this is the BEST part of season 1, and this show has already been absolutely masterful so I just can't wait to dive head first into this three-part finale! Rogue was obviously a highlight this episode along with Cyclops and his interactions with the rest of the team after what happened in Genosha. Seeing the X-Men family so broken after the death of Gambit is some really powerful emotional stuff. Especially everything with Rouge. My heart aches for her because she's lost so much at this point. Her old family, her loves, her dreams, and her stability now that the X-Men are also emotionally destroyed. That scene where they comforted Rogue in Mexico genuinely made me tear up. I love this family. This is why the X-Men are my favorite comic book team. This show is just incredible because it knows how to convey everything the team/the world is feeling perfectly through our favorite characters. This is just incredible writing with this character work in this incredible show! This is Marvel at its absolute best! 9/10 episode this week! With another banger X-Men 97 episode and the Deadpool and the trailer, I think it's safe to say that it's been an awesome week for X-Men fans!
The best way to think about Bastion is as the next evolution of Nimrod. He was created when Nimrod was shoved through time and merged with a Master Mold. He lost his memories of being Nimrod and took on a human appearance. For a while, he lived as a human, but eventually his sentinel programming activated and he became the mutant hunter we know. Because of his various lineages, he's the most dangerous sentinel ever made. Because he's "descended" from Nimrod, he has all of Nimrod's powers. However, because he's "descended" from Master Mold, he has the drive to make more sentinels (like the one you saw Trask transform into here). And because he lived as a human, he understands human emotions and how to manipulate them.

Plus they took Gambit from us so I fine with some humans dying. Also glad we are getting more Nightcrawler since he is one of my favorite characters in the X-men.
I would love that Bastion somehow makes Magneto goes full crazy, so Charles will need to enter his mind to placate him, and then the season finale is a hint of Onslaught dormant inside Charles' mind because of this.
This show has been awesome! So many characters I didn’t know kw much or at all. So much so, I’ve pulled out my x-men encyclopedia to understand who is who. Can’t wait to see what the last 3 episodes have in store for us.
I read somewhere that someone asked Beau DeMayo if there's going to be Spiderman. He said, we'll see. I'm really enjoying all the episodes. Also the Rogue smashing things in the beginning, done of those moves were from the video game
With the mention of Carol Danvers, we did get a little of her in the original animated series. We got flashbacks to the brutal origin of Rogue's strength and flight and the associated comatose "Jane Doe" and the whole fight for control of Rogue's body .... It would certainly be some heavy, but interesting, writing if they wanted to pick back up where they left off there. Seeing Cap here is another fun reminder of the original series happening before the whole live action different companies owning different characters problem ... We also saw flashbacks of Cap and Logan fighting nazis together in the old series. They have so many many places they could draw from, im excited tonsee what these last few episodes are.
I remember a fair bit more Carol Danvers. She became Binary and joined the Starjammers for a few episodes ... unless I'm getting that mixed up with something, the comics maybe?
@@mulukh7 there's so many character cameos in that series it's always possible. Just checked IMDB though and voice credits only give us one episode for Ms Marvel (Danvers) - although an interesting catch just now was seeing Stan Lee with a voice credit in season one, lol.
Apparently one of Bastion's powers is resurrecting people, so he might be the one to bring Gambit back.... as a human Sentinel. Also, the fact that Jean could sense Trask's mind still present after his transformation might set up the same thing happening to Gambit & them helping him break free (similar to when Gambit became the Horseman of Death for Apocalypse in the comics).
True. Captain America can’t just show up in another country unless there is an outward threat. You risk an international incident or starting a war. When he went to Germany the war already existed. And any other mission he was working as a shield operative to contain a threat (hydra) avengers 2 and Capt 3 are good examples of this. However if no threat exist and he goes rogue or if an enemy is surrendering and he doesn’t give them due process it would not only be an internal incident but also a pr storm.
❤❤❤ love the reaction mix and talk about this episode. Rogue is being who she was meant to be unlike how the films depicted her. Also Bastion. Wow. Eric is alive! Why am I sensing a trap for Xavier 😮😮😮
I am so glad they are FINALLY doing my girl like the boss she is. I fell in love with X-Men as we all did as a kid and I always loved Rouge and her powers. I always wanted them lol. Also I think Gambit will be back as a 'HORSEMEN OF APOCALYSE' of DEATH
Seems like Bastion is planning to use Magneto as a tool to further elevate the conflict between humans and mutants. And with Xavier on his way, it's possible we get Onslaught.
18:46 I wouldn't say _"some of them,"_ it's more likely *_most_* of them, especially those that didn't join Xavier's school as a kid. Even Storm said in the original series that they all had dark pasts. As far as Rogue goes, she was introduced in the comics as a villain, and even in this show's storyline, she was trained by Mystique and a part of that villainous crew.
This show is much like the 2017 Ducktales. It takes things that we love (With 97 it’s the X-Men and Ducktales with The Duck Family) and not only makes us happy with nostalgia but are also able to tell there own story and on themes. This show has been a real fun time and I love it so much!
Can you imagine in the season finale went the X-Men goes face to face against Bastion and his Army of Hybrid Sentinels went all hope is lost then the suprise cameos enters like Deux Ex-Machina the X-Factor , Excalibur , Emma Frost, Bishop , Alpha Flight Spiderman and the Avengers came to their Aid. Endgame portals style Cyclops : this is end team we're all alone. Havoc : You're Not Alone Brother.. Captain America : AVENGERS!! ASSEMBLE!!
8:54 I like when characters hv a secondary ability to help them stand out from other characters w/ similar abilities lol, i.e.: * Emma Frost - diamond form & telepathy * Jean Grey - telepathy & telekinesis * Wolverine - claws & regenerative healing * Nightcrawler - teleportation & wall crawling + prehensile tail * Psylocke - telekinetic constructs & telepathy * Callisto - superspeed & X-factor detection * Sue Storm - invisibility & force field generation, etc. I also like when they hv a unique physical appearance (i.e. Beast, Mystique, Nightcrawler, Storm, Blink, etc).
28:31 Carol Danvers is in their world, but comatose in a hospital because Rogue absorbed too much out of her. You can see the episodes on the original series. Also there are clips here in youtube
So glad we're seeing on screen just how badass Rogue is and what she's capable of when pushed to her limits. I also agree that both Cap and Rogue were right in their words to each other.
I watched 3 other reactors say "I have no idea who this guy is" and I thought 'Hector will know'. I didn't think you'd tell me 2 seconds after seeing him! I should have though.
The Prime Sentinels have arrived. Imagine a world full of sleeper agents who look human ready to activate and decimate the mutant population. Bastion don't fuck around.
4:57 I like what they've done with Jean, Scott & Logan in this show. It reminds me of X-Men: Evolution tbh - I'd love to see these guys react to that someday.
The Summers family tree alone looks like a box of old cords I’d find in my dad’s garage. How many kids does Scott have? Does Stryfe count? If Havoc & Madelyne have a kid, does Cable have a brothercousin?
I was just talking about it yesterday with my friend. I have a friend who like Hector mentioned pretty much only read X-Men comics so he had tons of guesses of what they were gonna do at the start of the season. And my own sizable Marvel knowledge means I know of/about some of the stories and it's so cool to see how they condense whole arcs of comics into 30 min stories. For me what that does is actually make me want to hunt down the comics and go read them. Cause the show does a great job giving you a 30 minute slice where you have some idea of what's going to happen but then if I want more I can go find it in the comic. It's a great way to adapt material IMO.
Seriously if Marvel did what DC did when they had their own streaming service where shows/movies would have comic suggestions I'd utilize it all after the season ends (I don't wanna know what's coming)
Can you ask your friend who the women with the white and black hair standing next to Gambit's brother Larry is? Some have suggested it is "Aurora" from "Alpha Flight" but I can for the life of me think why an "Alpha Flight" member would be at Gambit's funeral. She must be a member from Assassins or Thieves Guild.
Kinda true that keeping up with the X-Men before the 2000s was all consuming but they eventually team up with everyone cool in the marvel universe so they introduce you to everyone almost. So its a full marvel lesson loving the X-Men : )
So Baston is really Nimrod and if Professer X return people will think the X Men lied about him being dead and they could be in trouble that what Baston want
25:15 I am *so* glad Marvel's been delving into animation. I still *love* the live action MCU, but there are some things that just thrive in animation - I hope they continue to expand their animated universe (like DC).

@@I.Lostalim you're telling me my memory animated the comics I've read so I thought it was part of the cartoon?
@@mulukh7 I'm going to put that as a distinct "maybe" 🤔
You three are excellent together. I am an X-Men newb so it’s been very helpful watching these breakdowns. Keep up the good work!
I luv the online comment that said Rogue threw the shield back to Wakanda 😅
Bastion is all machine, Nimrod from the future fused with Master Mold. He looks human, but he's basically an X-Terminator.
the changing of the radio station, show Bastion ability to control technology.
You see that rider kick rogue did. That shit straight out of marvel vs capcom
❤❤❤ love the reaction mix and talk about this episode. Rogue is being who she was meant to be unlike how the films depicted her. Also Bastion. Wow. Eric is alive! Why am I sensing a trap for Xavier 😮😮😮
Rogue Rogue….I’m here for it!!!!
Bastion is keeping Magneto alive, keeping tabs on Xavier, and Sentinels are involved. ARE WE GETTING ONSLAUGHT?!
Bastion was actually featured in one of the visions of the future in the epilogue of the last episode of X Men Evolution.
Correction: It was Nimrod
This series is amazing. We need a feature length animated movie of this series.
Even the entire team wants to also
Angry Rogue don't need any fixin', sugah.
19:51 Nimrod's and Master Mold's conscience as one as a Prime Sentinel.
Rogue has no more F's to give.
This show is much like the 2017 Ducktales. It takes things that we love (With 97 it’s the X-Men and Ducktales with The Duck Family) and not only makes us happy with nostalgia but are also able to tell there own story and on themes. This show has been a real fun time and I love it so much!
Rogues VA KILLED IT.
Bastion is a merged Mastermold and Nimrod. He is a android never was human.
So Bastion installed in himself a FM transmitter and mp3 player just to screw with people before he kills them. Give him points for style.
I almost choked on my lunch when I think Adam say when Charles comes back to the ghetto😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Can you imagine in the season finale went the X-Men goes face to face against Bastion and his Army of Hybrid Sentinels went all hope is lost then the suprise cameos enters like
Deux Ex-Machina the X-Factor , Excalibur , Emma Frost, Bishop , Alpha Flight Spiderman and the Avengers came to their Aid.
Endgame portals style
Cyclops : this is end team we're all alone.
Havoc : You're Not Alone Brother..
Captain America : AVENGERS!! ASSEMBLE!!
I really appreciate how much you guys know your comics! Def one of the most knowledgeable YT channels I’ve found keep up the great work!
You killed those now you get me sounds close to the Hawkeye line Clint said in endgame when he spoke the yakuza boss about thanos
8:54 I like when characters hv a secondary ability to help them stand out from other characters w/ similar abilities lol, i.e.:
* Emma Frost - diamond form & telepathy
* Jean Grey - telepathy & telekinesis
* Wolverine - claws & regenerative healing
* Nightcrawler - teleportation & wall crawling + prehensile tail
* Psylocke - telekinetic constructs & telepathy
* Callisto - superspeed & X-factor detection
* Sue Storm - invisibility & force field generation, etc.
I also like when they hv a unique physical appearance (i.e. Beast, Mystique, Nightcrawler, Storm, Blink, etc).
"This was a nice moment for once on this show!"
Hehe, forgot what show he's watching?
"Very anime video game style." 100% on point. When she was smashing tanks they included her signature moves from the Capcom video game. :)
the way they made kurt look in 97 makes him look like hes always smiling even when he's sad about gambit's death
Thunderbolt Ross!!! Rip William hurt 😢
ROGUE GOING ROGUE! 💚💛
Im ready for Onslaught!!!
Bastion don't fuck around.
there is panel of STARK INDUSTRIES XD
4:57 I like what they've done with Jean, Scott & Logan in this show.
It reminds me of X-Men: Evolution tbh - I'd love to see these guys react to that someday.
"It was Bastion aaaaaall along…" 🎵
It rhymes!
So its a full marvel lesson loving the X-Men : )
3:44
Yes! Rogue went all out Capcom, it was cool to see the moves again in this animation style 😍
Jay and Miles Explains the X-Men is indeed a great podcast and high recommend.
2 ways gambit can come back. Apocalypse brings him back but as his horseman. Or bashtin, brings him back as a sentinel.
Bashtin
I know it wasn’t this episode. But “call me chum in the water” is something i cant stop saying. I hopecwe see forge again soon
I love how they just threw Cap in like he's been in this series before, so casually 😂😂.
He was in the last season of OG series.
@@xackwerley9184 yes, I know! I meant for this specific series.
@@NannaP27 Yeah lol. If people hadn’t seen the OG then he’s just randomly here
I like how “Mutations have changed from only emerging during “Extreme “ stress or during “Puberty “ to being present at birth!
So Baston is really Nimrod and if Professer X return people will think the X Men lied about him being dead and they could be in trouble that what Baston want
He's a mystical hybrid of Nimrod and Master Mold. Bastion creates Prime Sentinels (in the show, that is what Trask became).
25:15 I am *so* glad Marvel's been delving into animation.
I still *love* the live action MCU, but there are some things that just thrive in animation - I hope they continue to expand their animated universe (like DC).
