I just repaired mine making the same noise. I’m 90% sure it’s the washer on the tensioner spinning, or there’s crap in it. I bought a new idler and moved it around all the spots to figure it out, finally ended on that. Noise free so far, test drive to come
With my Roush supercharger, I'm concerned about trying to do it myself if it's just a washer but thank you so much for the response!! I have this exact same sound
Mine is making this noise too but with a little metallic thrown in. Dealership told me it was my water pump but idk about that. Four days now and they're ignoring me...
I don’t hear pulley noise but I think I hear aliens trying to get in contact with you

All that shit makes the same noise when faulty can't really pinpoint it unless you remove belt and inspect every single pully.
How do you inspect a pully
one by one a water spritz will tell you. if it bad noise will change
For me it was my serp belt
What was the problem?
Dealer just changed a shorter belt . No noise so far (2month)
The belt was the problem?
@@jonnytacooutdoors the dealer replaced a shorter belt and fixed it
@@tongtongwang a shorter belt? What if I buy a Oem belt? Maybe mines dry and worn?
@@jonnytacooutdoors I would contact a local dealer , and they have the toyota dealer repairing book how to and what to use the belt.
How much you paid
It’s the belt.
What do you need to do for the belt?
I know now! 1 am friday night anout to pass out. thanks
Any update on the fix? Mine is also slightly starting to do this. More so during the heat. I'm thinking its the Serpentine belt?
I went to dealer they got a free shorter under warranty by then
@@tongtongwang a free shorter? Sorry, I don't understand .
a shorter belt and it is free under the warranty@@southerncritic9090
Shut off the engine, and I bet that pulley will move quite a bit. Bearing are shot! Replace asap.
If you mix water with wd40 and spray it on the idler pulley nut the noise will go away and then come back thats how you know its that pulley
Nice way to have rust on your engine
@@AnnerMorales-8990 no rust when you use WD 40 hence the name Water Dispersant formula 40. If you want to be extra safe use distilled water

Same issue.. haven't taken in yet..
Was it the water pump?
Nope. Ended up just needing a new belt. @@ljforte1188
Is it sometimes?
it was sometimes especially when it is started
Having the same issue with my Tacoma. What is the problem?
Shorter belt replaced by dealer so far no noise
I have the same issue and dealer said it’s normal sound that all tacos get. I callBS on that….had them replace the belt but sound still there.
@@acev619 I got the same issue , they told me drive belt tensioner , if not that i believe it's one of the bearings
I have this issue on my 2022 4Runner with under 8k miles.
@@acev619 It can either be a belt tension pully or idler pully
Just set the belt to Wumbo
