    Yeah there's no way I'm following the advice of keeping the lyrics consistent in the form of "speaking". A Song must be sung. So extended notes and words are necessary. 1000% agree on the storytelling, though.

      And if you listened to her, you'd understand that's exactly what she was saying.
      You don't "speak" in a song. You "sing" the song in Poetic fashion. It's a misuse of the word. A writer would know that. So would an editor. She just mis spoke. Not that bigga deal brah. Think ya got one of those fat ass frownie lips.

    • @BatistaInvests
      @BatistaInvests 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What it comes down to it ss that she just misused the word "to speak".
      A song is sung in Harmonic Poetic fashion. A rap, however, is spoken.
      When you write a song, you sing it with the effort to try and tell a story. That's what she means by saying "Speaking". Sing so that the words speak to your audience. "The song spoke to me" = "I identified with the song."
      Which = write in a story form.
      But no, you don't speak in speaking tone. You sing it in harmonic tone.
      Misuse of word.

    This is a sad road. I never knew how difficult this was for the majority of song writers, until I started releasing music on my own. Paid for streaming services makes artist no money.
    Spotify has about 400 million listeners, and is worth about 21 Billion dollars, and they would not exist without the artist, singers, producers or podcasters, yet the artists don't make enough money to live on. Very sad. Best to quit music, go get a decent job and retire with a good net. And Spotify is only one platform, there is still Apple, Pandora, etc.,

    • @ArisTake
      @ArisTake  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yup - but unfortunately US law dictates songwriter mechanical royalty rate. And major record labels don't want this to change because they're making 4-5x what publishers/songwriters make. It's not just on the streaming services but also (mostly) the labels.

    Only few words capture the demise of popular music in the last 30 years as well as the word "top liner". The notion that you can simply slap a melody on top of some pre-produced loop and expect to come up with a great song is absurd. This approach only guarantees that the song will have no musical development as the loop will not change. No change in chord progression, and for sure no modulation. Most people agree, melody and harmony go hand hand. Developing one of the two requires the development of the other. I have the utmost respect for people like Bonnie McKee who actually manage to create music under such conditions.
