    Maybe on one of your weekend fly around you vids should get this David guy to come with you and have a voice over and let him talk about things he knows about the stadium looking at it live, he doesn’t have to be on camera if he doesn’t want to but it would be a good to see you both together.. one showing great footage while the other talks through the process and works of the stadium or if your viewers may want answers to a question he would be able to answer them maybe….. but keep up the great work I’ve watched your videos of the stadium from day one and will stay to the end.

      Alex: I'm humbled by your 'request'. At least 2 droners have made that invitation. Nick has proposed other ideas too but I'm not convinced that it's necessarily the right way to go. It's not a camera or voice-over issue: in my career I have presented to hundreds at a time. Besides which it would take major planning. Have you noted the times that Nick squeezes in his moments (he's never sure when he'll visit site due to other commitments and weather-restrictions)? Geographically, I'm certainly not 'local', so several hours of journey comes into the mix as well.

    Great work Nick and David that clears up my concerns that that water passage was going to be permanently infilled shame about it being unnavigable though it would have been nice to sail my boat along the dock system and docked there on match days.. Ah! The wooden decking is a No no, we don't have the climate for it and if you look at the decking used around Princes dock you'll see its rotting and moss covered and slippy to walk on, granite sets would have been more practical here me thinks.. First: Let's doff our Royal Blue Bobble Hats to David Babcock, who shows astonishing knowledge of the site for a Layman. His insights put the Club and their (slick but superficial) video updates to shame, imho... There is almost too much to talk about in this video but one thing comes to mind: will not the tunnel beneath the Western Terrace be dark and gloomy? And, is the 'Media Centre a bit of a disappointment? What's supposed to go in there - it seems like it encloses huge Batteries or something? Overall though, it's very impressive, isn't it?

    • @AI_PM
      @AI_PM 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The “media centre” is first and foremost the primary substation for the incoming power supplies and transformers to power the whole stadium. It got its media centre tag as the broadcasting vehicles will plug in here too and there are some facilities for those personnel.
      The western terrace tunnel will be artificially lit so doubt it will be gloomy but I imagine will be absolutely cracking atmosphere, think Goodison Road with a roof on! When it’s windy and the gates are closed it’s going to be even louder.

      Brain: thanks. You presume correctly. The site will be open at all times but generally the stadium itself will not be open. The Hospitality Lounges at the West Stand and the Retail Shop in the East Stand Portal will be open most hours.
      The Hydraulic Tower and Pump House is planned, loosely, to be a cafe and Museum but that is a broad plan, with no further focused details available, yet. Longer-term, the plan is for it also to become the north terminal of the Mersey Walk all the way from the Festival Gardens, but who knows how long that will take to come to fruition; certainly not until PEEL have completed Liverpool Waters development, I imagine.

    Thanks David and Nick. How deep will the Water Channel be?

    • @davidbadcock2225
      @davidbadcock2225 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mac: this is quite a tricky Q to answer as it depends what your datum point is to be and the real underlying Q, especially as tides, weather and waterflows come into the equation.
      The normal accepted datum point is Sea Level, so that is what is on the diagrams and what I shall use here. The top of the lip of the proposed Composite Decking over the Secant Pile walls will be at 5.6m. The top pf the top step/bench on the Lower Promenade will be at 7.2m. The 'High Water Level' in the channel will be at 4.6m, the 'Mean/Average Water Level' will be at 4.3m and the 'Lower Water Level' will be at 3.8m. The diagrams don't actually state the depth of water itself above the 'bed' of the Water Channel, as the 'Bed' is not identified. But taking a ruler to the zoomed-in diagram on the screen and applying a scale assumed from the other reference points, I'd estimate the 'Bed' to be at about 1.75m. So, the water depth itself will vary between 2.0-2.8m.
      Does that answer your Q?

      @@davidbadcock2225 Does it have to be that deep if it's not navigable? I simplistically assumed that the removal of sand could stop at a point when the water depth allows a person to stand up if they fell in when no-one was around to throw them a lifebuoy.

      @@johnburns4017 I appreciate your sentiments. Historic England wanted open water connecting the Sandon and Nelson Docks. The club had to incorporate the water channel into the design to secure planning permission from the council

      I am sure they wanted it navigable otherwise it is pointless, assuming EFC understood, but navigable not specifically mentioning. Then EFC block up the passage. Shameful.

    "Not navigable" means if you turn up on your yacht you won't get a parking space.

      The club were told they had to have the water channel otherwise they wouldn’t have received planning permission. It’s because of the heritage status of the docks

      The stadium designers have taken into account extreme storm events and the projected change in sea levels due to climate change - it’ll be fine and dry

      I'm afraid it will be something like that unfortunately, and also climate change is speeding up. Honestly I just worry about my grandkids and their kids that haven't even been born yet. Sorry to digress, I go to New Brighton most days and I think your stadium looks brilliant and it's not finished, going to look amazing at night games. How much will sea level rise in 80 years?
      About 2 feet (0.6 meters) of sea level rise along the U.S. coastline is increasingly likely between 2020 and 2100 because of emissions to date. Failing to curb future emissions could cause an additional 1.5 - 5 feet (0.5 - 1.5 meters) of rise for a total of 3.5 - 7 feet (1.1 - 2.1 meters) by the end of this century.
