I don't think they got the recognition they deserve because these were some powerful voices in every way . God Bless the Barrett Sisters only one is left. Miss Rodessa .
That's awesome! What a joy 2 hear a young teenager boldly proclaim on the worldwide web that you're a "worship leader"! I LOVE IT!!! and on top of that U LOVE OLD TIME GOSPEL! I LOVE IT!! U r DEFINITELY 1 of God's shining lights in this wicked generation. I bless U in Jesus' name & I want to encourage you to stick with Jesus! Stay true to HIM! He has so many GREAT things in store for U! By age 21, U will be a full time prophetic-evangelist. (Philippians 1:6)
Love this song, such rich history behind their singing..was fortunate to see the Barrett sisters some years ago .... their voices are unequaled in gospel today...pure gospel singing not overdone as so much of the gospel music today it...
You're absolutely right... This is the late Professor Charles Anthony Pikes ( passed away July, 2006), who was the Minister Of Music at the Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago for many years. Charles was very creative and energetic; he was before his time, musically. Watching him on these videos really brings back memories of spirit-filled times,
I want him to lead me & guide in everything I say and do. In His service I want Him to choose me & use. I do, don't you? What aI Wonderful Counselor, Mighty Prince of Peace, is He. And I all want each day is just a closer walk the Thee. You know I love Him!
oh my goodness!! thanks for the lyrics. i've heard this song for YEARS and NEVER knew what people were saying on the "i do, don't you" part. you've solved an old gospel mystery for me. :-D
I want to & talk with Jesus, everyday. I want my life to be an example for him, in everway. I want treat my brothers & sister the way He wants me to. Because He says do unto others as you would them have them do unto you. I want to shower me with His blessings from up above. And then rock me & rock me & rock me in the cradle of his love.
Charles came to Mt. Pisgah after Robert Martin passed away. Charles worked with Professor Willie J. Webb and Little Luci Smith Collier, who both preceded him as Ministers of Music.
Thanks so much for this posting !!!! Such a Christmas gift ! If you have some more my friend ! Quel bonheur de revoir Charles Pikes, virtuose du piano ; à se demander si le clavier ne fait pas partie de lui-même ... Fifteen years ago, I was celebrating Christmas with the Barretts and Charles at Delois' home . I could rewind the time ...
My praise team sings this song! I had never heard the original and some of our words are a little different but I will have to post a link or something! You don't hear gospel like this much anymore!
You knew that was Pikes just by the way his arms were positioned before you even saw his face! Not to mention NOBODY has his sound in this whole world.

It is Charles Pikes. He passed away sometime back.
You knew that was Pikes just by the way his arms were positioned before you even saw his face! Not to mention NOBODY has his sound in this whole world.
Pikes was their best pianist. He helped to fill in the blanks do they didn't sound like Ella Fitzgerald.
I love the Barrett Sisters but please someone who is the piano player???
I'm not shure, but I think his name is Charles Pikes
Willie Webb passed away a few years ago. To my knowledge, Little Lucy is still alive after suffering a stroke many years ago.
Who’s the guy on the piano?
There is probably no written part. This is just that old time. You have to just feel it.
Shirley Caesar recorded it...I'm not sure about another choir/group....
I think it's Charles Pikes
Piano man is chanelling ffs. 🤌🤌🤌🎹🎹🎹
