EXTRA NOTES: *Song Writing* The ACM is a great way to get started writing a song and only a SINGLE way to start. When I write drop melodies like this, i’ll usually start with the bass progression, add some drums, find a cool lead sound, and from there I tweak as I go. I personally don’t write the whole thing the first go around and stick to it, actually, that never happens. Get a baseline that you vibe with, steal one, whatever you can do to get it rolling. After that I just keep working out the song until 4 hours pass and I have something worth the time put it in. *Mixing* I encourage you to look at songs you like, just like I did with the Vluarr song. Every mix is different. The Vluarr remix we looked at in this video is just ONE example. If I were you, I would look at every single song that you like and dissect it. Look at it thru span, mute the sides, solo the sub, do everything to get an understanding of why it sounds the way it does
ACM would be called making melodies using 'chord tones' in music theory, for example using an A minor chord with C and E in the melody. Great video though my man, so glad to see you back.
I love that you take your tutorial videos to a whole new level with different perspective of making such videos. Instead of just showing pre-made FLP with samples and layers, you explain in the most simple yet effective and understandable way what makes the Vluarr songs so outstanding. the work you put in is so helpful to progress in our music production, Thank you!
I've noticed how significant the impact of Vluarrs style has had on the EDM genre and with Martin Garrix help (STMPD releases) the use of textured layering in new music has so much increased. The influence on such style on different labels, SIIK's sample packs and etc. Just take a moment to think about it...
Absolutely. I discovered him through his STMPD releases & when I heard his 2020-ish music, I loved it. Cool to see him using the same soundscape from back then
amazing, simple and to-the-point explanations on the sound design! but could you do a follow up vid going more in-depth with the drum selection and how you made the arrangement? (there's a lot of cool stuff in the build-up, and the drum fills in the drop are really nice)
I make Diplo, Sonny Fodera, MK style commercial house but I got into music production because of the 2013-2015 wave of edm and progressive house.. I miss trying to make festival bangers! Thanks for the new inspo and tips!
yo Kling i remember downloading a couple freaking massive drum banks from one of your videos. i recently had a catastrophic system error and literally lost everything. i think they were trap drums idk can u point me in the right direction when you get a chance please
Well... the closest thing I've released to trap is Illenium Future Bass , which a lot of those samples are trappy. Check out the illenium samples out on my website (there are free & paid). DM me on IG @theklingmusic if you have any more Q's. Also, pains me to hear you lost everything. Happened a few times to me. I've been backing up on dropbox ever since haha
