Being able to continue combos off the ground almost makes this a completely different game, and I hate it. Removing tilts and the new counter system was a genuinely terrible decision. The chakra recharging, new counter system, and being able to continue combos off the ground makes this a way too fast paced game compared to what originally made me fall in love with Storm games in the Generations era 10 years ago. This game wasn’t meant for competitive players, it wasn’t made for casuals - idk who this game was made for. It’s really sad because Storm USED to be my favorite franchise, but now with Connections it plays like every other arena fighter. They should’ve just stuck to bringing in the characters the fans have been begging for for years and bringing back the original combos and 4th combos.

I hate to admit it but as unbalanced as Shinobi Striker is it at least has much more potential as a fighting game then Storm due to the fact that you have much more movement and control in the game. The main thing the Storm games lack is maneuverability. It promotes timid playstyles.
History Mode is the worst mode to ever exist in a Naruto game. They be flexing and talking about “oh you can relive the story of Naruto” but then they skip important and amazingly great boss fights or make them low budget. (KCM Naruto vs Tobi & The Tailed Beast + Jinchuuriki). It’s so hilarious 😂
Tbh I think calling History Mode the worst mode to ever be in any naruto game is a colossal stretch. Some of the gamemodes in the Ninja Council series were completely atrocious.

When I saw they censored blood to black ink I laughed. The game is obviously not for OG naruto fans and more for the younger boruto crowd. I was amused for 5 minutes looking at the costumes in collections then realized all the characters they could have added and just decided not to.

More than half of the roster that was full of assists never got in besides the sound ninja. Characters like Jugo with a 2nd form to his Curse Mark. Tsunade with the 100 healings jutsu. From the Taka, to the Reanimation, all the way to the 4th Great Ninja War, we should've been given assist for characters and new movesets. They're just cheap bastards

Failed mentions: kakuzu doesnt have his cloak, jiraiya in his sannin era outfit when he goes sage mode he reverts back to his normal outfit so does Jugo in his taka outfit, Zetsu even moders made him playable....
This game just made it even easier to abuse the mechanics that were already a problem in Storm 4. I've been having mixed feelings about buying it. Some TH-camrs showcase the combat gameplay online but never did a review on the entire game. Thanks for pointing out the errors in the game. Kurenai and other support characters since Storm 1 deserve a chance to have their own combat mechanics by now.
i would never ever in my life buy the same game 70$ for new charcters i dont care what anyone says i pay 40$ and less for games, games havent been worth the vaule in so long the only game thats worth 70$ to me is GTA V & GTA 6

It’s basically a whole new battle system. You’re not buying the same game. You’re buying a new game with the same characters plus a few more.
From what I’ve read on Twitter , they’ve “lost” the voice files so they had to redub everything all languages sound lazy not just English, but I do agree whoever was behind the mixing could’ve easily asked for better effort

try to take anything on twitter with a grain of salt, also, they can literally just take the sound files from their own game. They’re still high quality even from a straight rip. I bought this game for my son the day it came out. I saw him play it twice since then lol. He complained about not having custom lobbies and that he can’t really play with his friend. As someone who’s been playing these storm games forever this is just sad to see.
I feel so bad for you guys man. Game is so bad that it’s crushing kids. Imagine being a diehard fan of the series and getting this trash only to find out it’s a glorified dlc update that somehow has even less content than the previous game that released 6 years ago.

Lol the i-frames on jutsu start up is cancer, but the removal of i-frames on blocking supports or taking damage from supports is godly. S4 removing the ability to use a support to bait you to block then locking in a grab removed a whole layer of complexity from the game from the S3 days.

The main problem is that Naruto fans are always buying these games nevertheless the quality. Not only that, but they also have to buy these stupid premium collections which are so expensive. How should they be interested in making any changes, if these games have comparabely high revenue streams without much effort?
People like Globku who say that this game could eventually be the best Storm game is impossible. In terms of actual game design and content, this is overall the worst Storm game by a mile. That History mode already almost killed the game for me (Special Story mode redeemed it though; it’s the only part of this review that I disagree with you), as someone who doesn’t play online. Plus with the measly 10 new characters, it’s abundantly clear that this game is a cash-grab. With the half-assed approach for Storm 4’s story mode, the false advertising for Kakarot (no Final Flash against Perfect Cell for example), as well as its boring, repetitive gameplay especially with leveling up, and now this 1 step forward, 5 giant steps back game, I think it’s safe to say that CC2 shouldn’t make anime games anymore. Storm should die. We either need a Naruto FighterZ, a new Naruto game that adapts the anime super well, or the revival of the Clash of Ninja series, which would be like Naruto’s Budokai Tenkaichi 4.

The beginning of the new opening; the homage to OP 2 - Haruka Kanata is pretty cool but man; just instrumental? They even scuffed the OP. Storms 4 did a good joob with a hyped intro. Me and my friend predicted this would be a filler game but holy hell man. I love me some Naruto but they really selling anyone anything. I do hope people recognize the lazy & cashgrab it encourages.. The planned DLC.. :') And also.. Really would be lit seeing a more modernized/newer Clash of Ninja game. We're in a drought of 2 - 4 player brawlers..
I don't like how they took away when Sasuke and Naruto fought the last battle in Storm 4 the part when both of them say all of our battles now Naruto only saying it. It's disappointing
Also the really crappy AI that all they normally do is chakra dash back to the edge of the stage and if you get them in a combo then they substitute they get away but if you do it they're instantly on you again. Also I was particularly disappointed in the Naruto vs Gara fight because he never transformed into Kurama to fight Shukaku. Also I get the history mode being short but the special story isn't even that long plus they could have included a story for Boruto it'd at least make it a bit longer to play

I still want to because I really want to try out Boruto and especially baryon mode but after seeing this video, I’m like dang he’s making perfect sense right now and on top of that I wish they brought back clashes just like from part one

I hate Storm's gameplay but CC2 can go pretty hard on the single player content, it's embarrassing that they marketed this as some kind of mega compilation and yet they excluded a ton of fights (and made others considerably worse experiences).

Yea I got it on steam and got the ultimate version just in case they fixed it up. I did a review that I wouldn't recommend it because of everything you mentioned. At least they fixed the ranged characters as an improvement but that's really about it. Also half of the costumes just aren't there from 4.
Good job spitting facts so much, this really needed to be said. I've been playing this series since it's launch and the Ultimate Ninja series, started as a wee lad. I like the series, but I can't stand playing it unless I mod the ever living shit out of it so much that my excellent PC bricks. I'm not gonna keep playing with those dog water Rock Lee's and Might Guy's, I have to mod it so much just so I can enjoy my favorite characters being anything except shit. I remember when they removed side combos and they shortened the UJ's, but now they last for 50 seconds, why not just return the old ones? I loved Rock Lee's Storm 1, Might Guy's also, Sasuke's UJ they removed the curse mark and when he rips his hand out of your ribcage, that was so cold. Awakening UJ's were a total banger. I don't mind paying a good amount to have everything done from scratch. New UI since this one looks absolutely horrible, every character has a kid version, shippuden and Boruto version, with most having couple of them. All of them have 4 combos as they should, more ultimate's, more jutsu's, everything. I want it all and I would honestly pay 70 fucking bucks for that shit no problem. I mean, Storm 3 was the first game I ever played in a real life tournament and I kept winning that shit a lot. I like this series a lot, but it's beyond wasted. I really hope this flops so they get their act together and make something worth it.

I appreciate your honesty man. This is the definition of keeping it real. On twitter, there are some users saying that the redub is basically AI. But don’t know if it’s true, but it sure seems so with those cutscenes. The English Naruto Voice actor even said that she doesn’t even remember saying the lines ever that were put in this game.
I loved playing as Anko and Shizune in the PS2 games, it pisses me off that they aren't playable in Storm. I also agree the english dub voice acting is terrible and it's made it difficult for me, to want to continue playing the game.
Along with that is what seems to be a glitch in local tournament and league where if you have two people playing in it, player 2 gets switched to being player 1 when fighting computers.

Was so hyped when the first nuns came out. It was simple but I saw the potential of what it could one day evolve into as a 3d free movement fighting game. I expected characters to get deeper and deeper and their move sets to keep growing as the series went along. Then they immediately started taking moves away and focusing on being able to say they had an absurd number of characters instead of making characters deeper with more options.....by game 3 I was basically done since I felt they just wanted to milk a popular franchise's fans instead of create something that could one day stand beside respected fighting games.

I'm enjoying it but I didn't paid to get it anyway so I'm enjoying it for free :). The Story mode is a downgrade from other Storm games tho, and the combat feels faster and if you use simplified mode feels different specially since I been playing on a keyboard instead of a controller.Simplified mode for controllers don't use it but for keyboard players it helps a lot. The new characters are also fun to play. As I said many times the only reason why it's a new game it's because they removed gameplay features and also the new features like the levels in each character. Because of removal of features if it was only an update it could break Storm 4 since removing features from an already completed game can bring serious problems. That is why it makes sense to make a new game instead. Should it be charged the full price of a big game tho? Not really, it should have been like 30$ max or something like that 70 or more it's a bit expensive for this game

It's been confirmed that the bad voices is due to it being ai generated, Naruto's voice said that's not her voice and no voice director can have her say lines like that, and kawaki's voice was only asked to do the trailer, he didn't do the same attack in game. He even tested the audio and confirmed it was All AI. So they didn't even try to make this game.

I agree with your opinion in most of the subjects, for me Naruto Storm Connections it doesn’t feels like a new Storm game at all, they changed only a few buttons commands and nothing more, the fact that they removed Tilts and they put the tilts moves on the second jutsus it's pretty lame, disappointing and lackluster, this game feels more like an update DLC than like an actual New Storm Game. But honestly, for me Storm 1 will remain the most Unique one from the series and the closest to the anime itself because of the very dynamic gameplay features, my reasons: Intro of characters before the encounter, unique jutsus that didn't came back to the other Storm games, longer and diverse movesets for almost any character, Awakenings in Storm 1 have also Ultimate Jutsus, Jutsus Clashes and Wall Fighting... and I can go on and on to state it why Storm 1 gameplay was the most unique one from the Storm Series, just try to Imagine Storm 4 gameplay with Storm 1 gameplay features, In my opinion that will be the Perfect Storm game. The First Storm game has the most Unique gameplay features perspective and the particular presentation of the game was so ahead of it's time in my opinion, the only downside of the first Storm game was the very lacking Story Mode Interactions, and from Storm 3 the developers cut and shortned the movesets of characters, that's why I don't agree with their choices. (By the way, my favourite Storm games and I will put them in my personal order will be: 1.Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 1 and Generations. (these have my favourite vibe and charm of the anime itself because of the dynamic gameplay features) 2. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2( for the unique Story and some Unique Boss Battles and let's not forget that Iconic "Calm Before the Storm" OST from the Characters Selection Screen and many more diverse soundtracks) 3. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst (Because of the more well-rounded diverse Story Perspective and very epic Boss Battles and also the soundtrack "Outside Konoha" and others soundtracks as well) 4. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 (mostly because of the unique option to change/switch between your characters team during the fight, this particular option mechanics should've been already in the game from the very first Storm game in my opinion) 5. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution (because of the abused and annoying Counter mechanic) 🤷🏻♂️
They changed the entire battle system. What do you even mean? Have you played it? It plays nothing like Storm 4 at all. Also, if you really like Storm 1, boy do I have something fun for you. Everything cool and unique from Storm 1? It was all taken from the PS2 Ultimate Ninja games. Go play those (but skip Ultimate Ninja 1 it’s awful). Wall running is a required mechanic, item drops from broken stage parts, diversity of items, insane over the top ultimates like Neji’s 361 Palm, weird and unique characters like Might Suit Naruto and Drunk Rock Lee and Kurenai and Anko. So many good things I can’t even go through them all. Just. Play Ultimate Ninja series on PS2 (note that UN5 only came out in Japan and Europe). You will LOVE LOVE LOVE it if you love Storm 1. :D
The storm legacy and trilogy already removed some of the soundtracks(not sure why if its due to copyright licensing or what) for example the final phase of Jiraya vs Pain boss there is supposed to be this emotional piano ost (called lightless struggle) but its replaced with a generic battle ost and takes away the moment. Now Connections is one upping everything

If you want to do the father son rasengan with adult Naruto and Boruto, you can NOT pick the Boruto version with the child Naruto clothes skin. You have to pick some other random Boruto version for the team ultimate jutsu. This doesn't make any sense at all! Did anyone else notice this error? I love playing canon anime teams but its not possible here.

Shizune, Kurenai, and Anko were fully playable in the old Ultimate Ninja games… which automatically makes them superior to this shit where they are perfectly fine with giving us 28 Naruto clones.

More than half of the roster that was full of assists never got in besides the sound ninja. Characters like Jugo with a 2nd form to his Curse Mark. Tsunade with the 100 healings jutsu. From the Taka, to the Reanimation, all the way to the 4th Great Ninja War, we should've been given assist for characters and new movesets. They're just cheap bastards

This game just made it even easier to abuse the mechanics that were already a problem in Storm 4. I've been having mixed feelings about buying it. Some TH-camrs showcase the combat gameplay online but never did a review on the entire game. Thanks for pointing out the errors in the game. Kurenai and other support characters since Storm 1 deserve a chance to have their own combat mechanics by now.

It’s basically a whole new battle system. You’re not buying the same game. You’re buying a new game with the same characters plus a few more.
From what I’ve read on Twitter , they’ve “lost” the voice files so they had to redub everything all languages sound lazy not just English, but I do agree whoever was behind the mixing could’ve easily asked for better effort

I bought this game for my son the day it came out. I saw him play it twice since then lol. He complained about not having custom lobbies and that he can’t really play with his friend.

Lol the i-frames on jutsu start up is cancer, but the removal of i-frames on blocking supports or taking damage from supports is godly. S4 removing the ability to use a support to bait you to block then locking in a grab removed a whole layer of complexity from the game from the S3 days.

People like Globku who say that this game could eventually be the best Storm game is impossible. In terms of actual game design and content, this is overall the worst Storm game by a mile. That History mode already almost killed the game for me (Special Story mode redeemed it though; it’s the only part of this review that I disagree with you), as someone who doesn’t play online. Plus with the measly 10 new characters, it’s abundantly clear that this game is a cash-grab. With the half-assed approach for Storm 4’s story mode, the false advertising for Kakarot (no Final Flash against Perfect Cell for example), as well as its boring, repetitive gameplay especially with leveling up, and now this 1 step forward, 5 giant steps back game, I think it’s safe to say that CC2 shouldn’t make anime games anymore. Storm should die. We either need a Naruto FighterZ, a new Naruto game that adapts the anime super well, or the revival of the Clash of Ninja series, which would be like Naruto’s Budokai Tenkaichi 4.

The beginning of the new opening; the homage to OP 2 - Haruka Kanata is pretty cool but man; just instrumental? They even scuffed the OP. Storms 4 did a good joob with a hyped intro.

Also the really crappy AI that all they normally do is chakra dash back to the edge of the stage and if you get them in a combo then they substitute they get away but if you do it they're instantly on you again. Also I was particularly disappointed in the Naruto vs Gara fight because he never transformed into Kurama to fight Shukaku. Also I get the history mode being short but the special story isn't even that long plus they could have included a story for Boruto it'd at least make it a bit longer to play
I was really hoping that this was gonna be the ultimate Naruto experience of the entire series in one special package

Glad to see more people being critical of this game instead of the usual meatriding that fills comments sections. I hate Storm's gameplay but CC2 can go pretty hard on the single player content, it's embarrassing that they marketed this as some kind of mega compilation and yet they excluded a ton of fights (and made others considerably worse experiences).

Yea I got it on steam and got the ultimate version just in case they fixed it up. I did a review that I wouldn't recommend it because of everything you mentioned. At least they fixed the ranged characters as an improvement but that's really about it. Also half of the costumes just aren't there from 4.
Good job spitting facts so much, this really needed to be said. I've been playing this series since it's launch and the Ultimate Ninja series, started as a wee lad. I like the series, but I can't stand playing it unless I mod the ever living shit out of it so much that my excellent PC bricks. I'm not gonna keep playing with those dog water Rock Lee's and Might Guy's, I have to mod it so much just so I can enjoy my favorite characters being anything except shit.
I remember when they removed side combos and they shortened the UJ's, but now they last for 50 seconds, why not just return the old ones? I loved Rock Lee's Storm 1, Might Guy's also, Sasuke's UJ they removed the curse mark and when he rips his hand out of your ribcage, that was so cold. Awakening UJ's were a total banger.
I don't mind paying a good amount to have everything done from scratch. New UI since this one looks absolutely horrible, every character has a kid version, shippuden and Boruto version, with most having couple of them. All of them have 4 combos as they should, more ultimate's, more jutsu's, everything. I want it all and I would honestly pay 70 fucking bucks for that shit no problem. I mean, Storm 3 was the first game I ever played in a real life tournament and I kept winning that shit a lot. I like this series a lot, but it's beyond wasted. I really hope this flops so they get their act together and make something worth it.

I loved playing as Anko and Shizune in the PS2 games, it pisses me off that they aren't playable in Storm. I also agree the english dub voice acting is terrible and it's made it difficult for me, to want to continue playing the game.
Along with that is what seems to be a glitch in local tournament and league where if you have two people playing in it, player 2 gets switched to being player 1 when fighting computers.

Was so hyped when the first nuns came out. It was simple but I saw the potential of what it could one day evolve into as a 3d free movement fighting game. I expected characters to get deeper and deeper and their move sets to keep growing as the series went along. Then they immediately started taking moves away and focusing on being able to say they had an absurd number of characters instead of making characters deeper with more options.....by game 3 I was basically done since I felt they just wanted to milk a popular franchise's fans instead of create something that could one day stand beside respected fighting games.

I'm enjoying it but I didn't paid to get it anyway so I'm enjoying it for free :). The Story mode is a downgrade from other Storm games tho, and the combat feels faster and if you use simplified mode feels different specially since I been playing on a keyboard instead of a controller.Simplified mode for controllers don't use it but for keyboard players it helps a lot.
The new characters are also fun to play. As I said many times the only reason why it's a new game it's because they removed gameplay features and also the new features like the levels in each character. Because of removal of features if it was only an update it could break Storm 4 since removing features from an already completed game can bring serious problems.
That is why it makes sense to make a new game instead. Should it be charged the full price of a big game tho? Not really, it should have been like 30$ max or something like that 70 or more it's a bit expensive for this game
I talked about this recently, but if a new broken bond or something was made with a updated roster, combat of course, and ya know just like completely remastered I’d love it so much, but I don’t see that happening ☹️

I'd actually forgive everything if they at least fixed the ATROCIOUS dub voice acting in this game. My god. After you finish the story modes of a Storm game, all that's left to do is play online. And if my characters are gonna sound the way they do now until Storm 5... yikes. Madara (Reanimation) was one of my mains and he went from sounding commanding to sounding like a complete cuck

It's been confirmed that the bad voices is due to it being ai generated, Naruto's voice said that's not her voice and no voice director can have her say lines like that, and kawaki's voice was only asked to do the trailer, he didn't do the same attack in game. He even tested the audio and confirmed it was All AI. So they didn't even try to make this game.

One of my many issues with the game is that their aren't private matches yet. Like why tf would you not put private matches with its release.
I agree with your opinion in most of the subjects, for me Naruto Storm Connections it doesn’t feels like a new Storm game at all, they changed only a few buttons commands and nothing more, the fact that they removed Tilts and they put the tilts moves on the second jutsus it's pretty lame, disappointing and lackluster, this game feels more like an update DLC than like an actual New Storm Game. But honestly, for me Storm 1 will remain the most Unique one from the series and the closest to the anime itself because of the very dynamic gameplay features, my reasons: Intro of characters before the encounter, unique jutsus that didn't came back to the other Storm games, longer and diverse movesets for almost any character, Awakenings in Storm 1 have also Ultimate Jutsus, Jutsus Clashes and Wall Fighting... and I can go on and on to state it why Storm 1 gameplay was the most unique one from the Storm Series, just try to Imagine Storm 4 gameplay with Storm 1 gameplay features, In my opinion that will be the Perfect Storm game. The First Storm game has the most Unique gameplay features perspective and the particular presentation of the game was so ahead of it's time in my opinion, the only downside of the first Storm game was the very lacking Story Mode Interactions, and from Storm 3 the developers cut and shortned the movesets of characters, that's why I don't agree with their choices. (By the way, my favourite Storm games and I will put them in my personal order will be: 1.Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 1 and Generations. (these have my favourite vibe and charm of the anime itself because of the dynamic gameplay features)
2. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2( for the unique Story and some Unique Boss Battles and let's not forget that Iconic "Calm Before the Storm" OST from the Characters Selection Screen and many more diverse soundtracks)
3. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst (Because of the more well-rounded diverse Story Perspective and very epic Boss Battles and also the soundtrack "Outside Konoha" and others soundtracks as well)
4. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 (mostly because of the unique option to change/switch between your characters team during the fight, this particular option mechanics should've been already in the game from the very first Storm game in my opinion)
5. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution (because of the abused and annoying Counter mechanic) 🤷🏻♂️

They changed the entire battle system. What do you even mean? Have you played it? It plays nothing like Storm 4 at all.
Also, if you really like Storm 1, boy do I have something fun for you. Everything cool and unique from Storm 1? It was all taken from the PS2 Ultimate Ninja games. Go play those (but skip Ultimate Ninja 1 it’s awful). Wall running is a required mechanic, item drops from broken stage parts, diversity of items, insane over the top ultimates like Neji’s 361 Palm, weird and unique characters like Might Suit Naruto and Drunk Rock Lee and Kurenai and Anko. So many good things I can’t even go through them all.
Just. Play Ultimate Ninja series on PS2 (note that UN5 only came out in Japan and Europe). You will LOVE LOVE LOVE it if you love Storm 1. :D

The storm legacy and trilogy already removed some of the soundtracks(not sure why if its due to copyright licensing or what) for example the final phase of Jiraya vs Pain boss there is supposed to be this emotional piano ost (called lightless struggle) but its replaced with a generic battle ost and takes away the moment. Now Connections is one upping everything

If you want to do the father son rasengan with adult Naruto and Boruto, you can NOT pick the Boruto version with the child Naruto clothes skin. You have to pick some other random Boruto version for the team ultimate jutsu. This doesn't make any sense at all! Did anyone else notice this error? I love playing canon anime teams but its not possible here.

I fucking hate all the grinding you have to do just to get the other costumes and accessories. You get a small amount of ryo for the fight after you beat the game.
