Happy New Year’s Eve Jonathan . I was just watching your video from Christmas Day . I loved your Summertime interpretations. When I went to see the Connstellation 28A on the trumpet herald sales page link , it seemed that I couldn’t locate it in the corners or trumpets or with the search. Did you sell it very quickly ?

Gordon, Greetings and Happy New Year to you too. Would you believe it sold in about 45 minutes? I guess I priced it low at $695 + $40 for shipping. Occasionally, like with this 28A, I bought it for a good price and didn’t bother trying to get top dollar. :) And maybe I should look for more of those… :)

I know you’re selective with your music but I believe “ Nearness of you”would fit in your playing profile. 👍

You're right! And it's a great song. I think I tried it on one vid, but I oughta give it a shot. :) Such a great classic song; and it is a style I like. Good idea!

I am curious what makes that horn a cornet instead of a trumpet. My guess would be the diameter of the receiver permitting a cornet mouthpiece insertion.
I always distinguish a cornet when I see the tuning slide pulled from the rear of the horn. But not always!

Yes, Robert; only the receiver. And if a cornet plays like a trumpet, I've known some very good players that will have the receiver of a cornet changed so that the instrument actually BECOMES a trumpet. :)

Great stuff as always, lovely horn. ( Johnathan I am just getting into basic recording for my trumpets, cornets & trombone. I am looking to purchase a Zoom recorder. My son tells me I need an editing software for my lap top but I have no idea what software package I should look for. Maybe you can make some suggestions. Your recordings system is far more complex than I need but I need to start somewhere.
    Paul 😊

I've got a nice little mixer at Guitar Center for about $250, and I picked up a used mic for $100 (new - there on sale now for $149 the AKG P420). Then decided I needed a speaking mic - another $100. I'm thrilled. :) Frankly, I could have got a used little mixer off Facebook locally (and probaby should have); that would have cut my cost significantly. I record directly into my Iphone; those cords were probably another $30 or so. I'm SO happy with my sound. Now if I could pick up my playing quality I'd be a happy man. :) I used to use a Zoom, but I'm much better off now, I think. Still, if you can get sound into your computer and adjust it there, that's another way to work it, I suppose.

On my bucket list but not on my budget lines at current unfortunately.

I understabd completely. It's gotta be the right horn at the right time. :) I've been SO lucky with horns. And I am SO thankful. :) Thanks for commenting, Anthony. And when it's your time - I hope you get a fantastick 28A. Happy New Year, too!

I love my 28A. I bought mine from Trent Austin and it's in really good condition. I also find it makes a great substitute for a rotary trumpet. Heres me having a go at Favourite Things on it: th-cam.com/video/NTa3CqSxTuU/w-d-xo.html
