Subtle rainbow on their outfits is another way to know, at least for me. I have a black hoodie with rainbow sleeves that I always wear rainbow eye glitter with, or a rainbow mask. This random kid at Walmart asked me if I was a lesbian bc I was wearing the rainbow mask lol

Awesome outgoing woman! Just want to add a couple 'strategies'. Lean comfortably against her. If she stiffens to support your weight (polite), relaxes against you (friendly), shifts to settle you closer (maybe even if subconscious)
If she's intriguing, build a lasting friendship. Overtime you both will work out what fits between you. Even if she isn't or doesn't feel the same as you she probably doesn't/won't attract just one woman (you). A good steady friendship at minimum.

There’s a girl I’m so in love with, we’ll call her Maggie. A few years ago practically everyone at my high school decided they were lgbt but I don’t know about her. She has an undercut and prefers button down shirts over dresses (but then again, I don’t fit any of the stereotypes, so…). We’ve had a few good conversations but sexuality never came up. The only other person who knows I like her is a queer AF boy in her drama class and he doesn’t know her orientation either. Maggie is so beautiful and amazing, please help! 💖💜💙
this was extremely helpful because me and my best friend hang out 24/7 she wears converse, she compares our hand size, shes very touchy, and I stole her phone and went through her spotify playlist, and she has a lot of girl in red songs hearted.

Interestingly, one of the rainbow accessories I got is a rainbow beaded bracelet I had since childhood. Might've come from Claire's or the kids' section in Walmart or something. I found it and ended up keeping it and kinda giving it some meaning.
The only issue with the girl in red thing not all lesbians (myself included) like to listen to girl in red because they have a different music type

With older women like myself the signs are more subtle. A lot of women in their 40's and 50's are semi closeted. They may have grown children and even grandchildren who they are not yet out to.
If you ask a woman that's older such questions she may try to dodge you. Also, she may not dress gay or go to Pride events. My advice is talk about yourself. Do this in person rather then online.
I like women near my own age but some women I know like younger women. So if that us you, looking for a more mature partner, take it slow. Let things build steam. No u-hauling!

Hilariously enough, I do fit a few of the lesbian stereotypes and just recently realized I was a lesbian. Flannel, check. Subaru, check. Short hair, I mean it's a bob and not a pixie but check nonetheless. When I realized, I was laughing my ass off almost all day. XD

She used to hug me and that hugging nd kissing made me feel uncomfortable. When we slept together. She used to put her hair on my abdomen under shirt. She just kept her hand there. Ut made me uncomfortable further. She wasn't jealous about a my ex bf but about a female friend of mine. Well, I have this friend, I have been playing high school softball with her for 2 years and we are pretty much best friends. When I first mentioned her to my mom I apparently told her that she was really pretty, and she asked if I was attracted to her. Further more down the line of time, I am a really open person, anyone who knows me at all knows that I’m gay. But idk if she is gay or not. She does hug me a lot, texts me every day, and is very, very supportive of me being queer but I’m not sure about whether or not this is a best friend thing or not and feel like I’m stuck in the friend zone, got any advice?

I like a girl, I don’t talk to her much face to face because I’m a nervous reck plus I gay panic, we’re on the same softball team, i managed to bring up my art and my interest in making cartoons, I said how I want to have a lot of minority representation in my cartoons which she really seemed to like, I then said how I want lgbtq+ representation in particular by stating “I only have like 2 heterosexual characters, if that doesn’t say anything I don’t know what does” followed by “other than the fact it says I’m super gay” to which she was clearly supportive of
I plan on asking her if she listens to girl in red or if she watches the owl house or steven universe or something like that so I can get a clearer answer
I feel like a good way to teel if the girl you like is also into girls is like Lauren said ask her but also if she gives complements on gay couples like aww there so cute together that can be a good indicator and if she wears a lot of rain bow colors and if she looks at girls more than she does guys.
Another thing I think can help, though this is really just a stereotype, are her earrings (if she has any). Most lesbian people I know will either wear no earrings or big ones, usually ones with objects on them. A popular one is birdcage earrings.

Honestly I always disliked beating around the bush but since I live in a country where being gay is still heavily looked down on I usually just open up the conversation with how the person feels about LGBTQ people, if it's positive I ask if they are a part of it and that's pretty much it.
