    Joel, your videos are always enjoyable, but Petey is a natural cameraman. He is getting some great different angles and perspectives and really starting to interact with you on camera. It adds a fun new dimension to your videos. Great job Pete! That rock picker did a good job. I'm sure the veggie boys would love to run it through all of their acreage. But if you get rid of all the rocks on the farm, there might not have any land left to till lol

    Rubble like that used to be the fill in the middle of the old rock walls for bank barns and such. It also makes a decent base for graveling wet areas, or filling up holes.

  • @anounimouse
    @anounimouse 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    We're curious: Why don't you transport these medium-sized rocks back to the farm yard and add them to the very deeply grooved driveways between the barns, high tunnels and elsewhere? Seems like it's FREE additive for stopping the mud/muck from building up.

    When I was a kid, I picked rocks for money. The farmer drove a pickup truck through the field, and about 5 or more people walked behind the truck driving slowly, and we picked up rocks and threw them in the back of the truck.

  • @raymondcaylor6292

    I know some of those potatoes seen being picked up by the rock-picker were probably culls but it did seem to a novice like me there was a lot of potatoes missed during harvest. A lot. Being a normal 73 year old man it wasn't as mesmerizing as somebody digging a hole but pretty close....and I'm not being facetious. I think I played with my kids Tonka trucks and excavators more than they did in mid to late 70's.

    Every time I see the rocks I want to know how they got there. Mountains that collapsed over millions of years due to erosion? Sea bed from millions of years ago? Ancient volcanoes? What is Pennsylvania's geological past? I find it interesting that you can grow crops so well with all those rocks in the field. Makes me wonder if there are any minerals coming off the rocks that help with crop growth as an added benefit. Loved getting to see someone riding their horse and loved Tucker's nameplate. The blue really makes it pop.
    I'm often amazed at the depth of tasks that have to be handled for all the components of the farm. I don't know how Brian keeps all those things scheduled so well. Especially with the unpredictable nature of the weather this year. I'm constantly impressed by the fact that this is really a 24/7 job. Crops and animals have to be cared for seven days a week. Farmers don't get weekends off. It's quite a lot to think about as a lifestyle.

    Another great video. It's good seeing Petey more confident on being ob camera & starting to get more job's. Is the farm just going to keep piling up rock or can you get rid of it somehow later on? Around my area, farmer's just pile rock in th middle of the field or on the edge & just get's covered with soil & grass after a while. We've got a good pile of rock that the previous owner's put in the field that im going to see abt getting rid of it, so something other then rock chuck's & grow there. 😅

    Road dirt is being placed into your yard to help with drainage. Why not add these rocks and make a firmer surface. Something was said about adding drainage pipes in do that then put the rocks over the top and work them in. You can have a cobbler stone yard.
