You're absolutely right, I was in college at the time and remember seeing it in almost every mid rank token druid deck. Sometimes it would absolutely wreck you if you failed to draw any early game before it got buffed on board. Just a true infinite value card at the time
@@DylanSmith-qs2pr Look up any Token Druid deck from that era. From tournament reports, Top Legend lists, etc. Token Druid was a very strong deck that could carry a shit card like Gibbler but it wasn't a "staple" in any of the actually refined lists.

Ganarg Glaivesmith is surprising. Pretty sure that card was part of a really really solid budget aggro list at some point. Maybe not great but hardly "worst card" material.
@@mrchundo imo Kryxis (did not make the cut in full aggro DH) or Kor'vas (I don't think I have EVER seen her played except for random generation) instead of Stelina (who wasn't great but anecdotally saw more experimentation), and Gan'arg could be replaced by something like Keen Reflexes (since Gan'arg was only ever in budget lists but I don't think Keen Reflexes made it onto *any* lists). Anyways stuff like this is fun for seeing what other people judge as the worst anyways. You can argue stuff like "is Flame Leviathan worse than Antonidas 2.0?" Flame Leviathan is objectively worse, but Antonidas was worse relative to the time period it was released. On that note of 'just for fun', I think Helbrim was at least tried out which is more than Fleetrunner or Hooktusk 1.0 can say for themselves in Rogue can say. Rounding out my takes, I'd say Fearsome Doomguard also isn't as bad as Wrathguard or any of the Warrior rares are as bad as Cursed Blade, both of which could actively lose you the game via random generation.
Feral Gibberer was actually a pretty good card in token druid, I climbed legend w it, you emptied your hand so fast that getting extra cards was very valuable
11:10 I remember when I first saw Deathaxe Punisher I read it as “Give a random minion +2/+2 and lifesteal” so I thought the downside was that it might hit an opponent’s minion. That was fine with me, I could play a board-based deck to ensure it always landed on my side. After I played it for the first time, I read the card again and promptly took it out of the deck

Although terrible I kinda like the boogeymonster, for some reason I remember winning a game because of it but it could have been in an solo adventure, but I think one way they could save it is by adding “if this minion survives damage restore it to full health” now it’s a win con that can be unstoppable if your opponent can’t one shot it or silence it.
For the longest time I thought two-faced investors text meant the amount that it discounts has 50% chance to increase. That was until I played it in arena and it was even more disappointing than I was expecting
Harbinger Celestial had a cool idea though. If your opponent was only running big minions, or maybe one specific big minion, they can't really play it since you'll get the minion as well. And even if they have small minions it'll at least delay them. Theres the slight issue, though, that, your Harbinger Celestial transformed into a big enemy... Now what? It probably triggered some amazing Battlecry like doubling the stats of all cards in the enemy hand, meanwhile you got a 4 Mana Assassinate since you can kill the minion your opponent summoned. That's... Okay, I guess? But in actuality, Blizzard predicted the rise of the No Minion Hunter archetype and figured we needed a way to fight back with a 4 Mana 5/6 Stealth.
I can only speak from wild and early standard experience but the following cards actually saw play in non meme decks: - Grook Fu Master was in early odd rogue builds before the curve lowered down and found better 5 costs to play. - Feral gibberer also saw play with his brother the Gibberling in token druid - Nat, the Darkfisher in early renolocks because it was a good tempo play on T2 - Gan'arg glaivesmith i was actually really good in odd DH in wild, even after the early nerfs to the class - Evolving Spores was played as a 1 of in both the minion and the spell based token druid - Anomalus has been in reno mages before the switch to Quest Reno mage in wild since it had lifesteal with the hero - Adaptation used to see play in odd Paladin because they really needed cheap buffs - Jade shuriken was in that tempo rogue with the many petals that saw play even after Un Goro in standard and also well Jade Rogue - Curse of Rafaam has been a tech card for slow warlock every time Quest mage or secret mage was in the meta - Hobart Grapplehammer has always been the 30th card in many Pirate Warriors until they got the anchor and therefore not wanting 4 weapons in the deck
the legendary from kharazan that shuffles 5 legendary cards into your deck should be on here you don't even have to draw it for it to start negatively impacting your chances of winning
there is temporoars that priest dragon, and that awful druid leg, that basically give your opponent the win. the worst thing about celestial is that it has one of the best board entrances of the entire game
4 mana 2/2 spell damage +2 did actually see play in burn mage but it did require you to have like ice lance ice lance frostbolt frostbolt to really be worth it

I'm not crafting these cards.) make a format out of playing only cards from this "expansion", plus maybe 10 classic or basic cards to just add a bit more cohesion and deck theme. Seems interesting. Yeah it's something to think about for sure. I feel like with how little removal there would be in this expansion, it probably comes down to who goes first.
Argent watchman is actually better than coliseum manager imo. Choosing not to hero power when you have nothing better to do, or floating mana, just feels absolutely terrible.
I could make a deck for each of these cards and they would be competitive. One mans trash is another mans treasure. Love using cards that most people think are useless
Deathaxe Punisher was super fun with Jeklik as its effect only hiring lifesteal made it almost guaranteed to hit the right card and was super fun. Still never good but oh well
But spellshifter was good for the standard meta at the time. I often times think of him as what well designed cards look like since he's flexible and hard to remove but not overwhelming due to the switch mechanic
@@TW-fs3fj being IN a deck doesnt make a card good, the ONLY reason it was there was because of the extreme restrictions on the deck building. and i really wouldnt call it a staple, just run bloodmage thalanos instead, way better
Here's an idea to give Celestia justice. Should she even come back, her new form should be "Battlecry: Transform two minions in in your opponent's hand into Harbinger Celestia.
sounds way too strong and not fun to play or play against since after 1 or 2 uses every minion in both hands becomes Celestia and then the only minions that can really impact the game from that point are topdecks. Crazy disruption against combo decks, and basically just turns the game into a topdeck fiesta
Well, if most of your cards have terrible stats for the cost or just terrible stats, boogey is kinda good, because you can't realistically contest it. It's bad in normal hearthstone because you don't really play minions with very bad stats, but in this expansion-possibly a good card if not countered by poisonous

Putting deathaxe punisher AND felsoul inquisitor into this theoretical set, almost makes them playable. Bet everyone had to go figure out what those are cards are…
@@mrchundo So far the biggest issue we've run into is the fact that the set does not have enough synergy to make a few of the cards work: It is literally impossible for the paladin or warlock quest to be achieved, there's no murloc for tinyfin caravan, there's no weapon for suckerhook, no fire spell for antonidas etc. I think it goes against the design ideas of the hearthstone team to have a set be literally unplayable in itself. We're still tryna make it work tho lol
Update: We played a few matches and tempo rogue was the dominant deck. Gibberer is the biggest defining force in the format, next to the very powerful Deathaxe Punisher + Felsoul Inquisitor combo. It's actually a pretty healthy format, it just currently struggles because all the decks feel pretty similar. Probably would be playable with more class cards!
@@MrWhirlywind Yeah there are a couple problems with a format of just these cards. For one, you are using one expansion for the format rather than the 3-6 we usually have in Standard rotation. A second issue is that the expansion has to be both bad enough to be very bad but also cohesive enough to resemble an actual expansion. For someone such as myself who has no experience designing a Hearthstone expansion, that second part of actually having cohesion is pretty difficult. I am glad you are having fun with it.

Validated Doomsayer actualy is Very goood card. Even OP in some Rogue decks after "United in stormwind" was released. Even its base power good enough. And it's downside isn't that bad. Usualy opponent still spends removal spell. Ok. Why is validated doomsayer is OP? Because "meat wagon" 4mana1/4 minion from "knights of frozen throne" with deathrattle: summon a minion from your deck with less attack than this minion. Remember, meat wagon have 1 attack and validated doomsayer have 0 attack. Have 4 mana 1/4 mech with deathrattle "summon 7/7 minion" is olready very good, but validated doomsayer accidently get even more sinergies, lets continue. In "united in stormwind" we have a 3 mana spell "sketchy information" with effect: draw a deathrattle minion that costs 4 or less, trigger its deathrattle. What an incredible coincidence, meat wagon is a deathrattle minion that costs 4. We can summon validated doomsayer from sketchy information. On turn 3 7/7 minion. BUT. If we have sketchy information and preperation(0 mana spell: next spell this turn costs 2 less) in our hand on turn 1, we can summon Validated Doomsayer on turn 1! And have summoned 7/7 on turn 1 IS scary. And it is better than summon "korrak the bloodrager", usual target of sketchy information.
I've played a lot of arena throughout Hearthstone's history and the point made about Coliseum Manager is spot on. Most of these cards are cards I remember being unpickable in arena as well as being bad in constructed and are well-deserving of their spots. I do want to say that Venomancer was a decent arena card in its time as it was from early enough in the game's history that most neutral 5 drops were 4/6s which it matched up well against. There was also the dream of it sniping a Hungry Ettin or a Sleepy Dragon as well. You weren't jumping for joy to pick it, but you also didn't mind picking up one or two.
Some of these are actually serviceable in arena and shouldn’t be on the list imo. Anything with at least vanilla stats with no downside (e.g. a 2-mana 2/3) isn’t that bad and can at least be good tempo when played on curve.
i feel as tho worgen greaser is the worse no text, all the other stat lines are ether ok for cost, like faceless behemoth is ok off of conjers calling or pitfiter being good in arena back in the day, even am'gam rager is ok as a buff target even if it is abysmal but worgen greaser is bad by itself as it dies to a 2 drop and things like lightning bolt and frostbolt but also never trades up as 6 is too low to get 6 cost and up while both these days and back in witchwood 5 drops and 6s had stuff they did or didnt see play meaning your 4 tradeing 1 for 2 with a azure drake sucked very very hard
i remember back in nax there was There was experimenting with stone skin gargoyle in paladin as a recipient of buffs it was okay when it was just Stone skin and later when avenge came out it definitely bosted the deck even if Stone skin was cut for being mediocre, To be clear Stone skin definitely belongs on the list just waxing nostalgic about the old days of this game
blubber barron worked like 3-4 years ago in mid tier pally in wild as an ok build around, much more that battlecrys are good rather then the barron but hes prob not the worst
Generally I do agree with you fartface, but Worgen Greaser did actually receive a buff in the last April Fools patch that stuck, and it is now a 6/4. But definitely original 6/3 worgen greaser can get on here. 3 health is baaaaad
death axe had like 2-3 things it could hit depending on class in the game back in KotFT so not even enough total much less good lifesteal worth playing
When I was counting up how many of the worst cards were in each expansion, Boomsday Project was at 0 for a while and I couldn’t figure it out. Then, boom! Harbinger Celestia, Unpowered Mauler, etc.
Weird that you'd put all of this together and then not actually create any kind of deck and play a few sample games with it to show just how awful it actually is. The lack of any practical application effectively turns this into a bad theorycrafting video with no real pay-off for the viewer. "What if we used all of this stuff? Well, just imagine it with me because I'm not going to show you what it would be like!" All of that combined with the "I'm scared to wake the baby because I've had a really long day" monotone whisper made this regrettable to watch. Put these bad decks together, actually show some gameplay, and drink a Red Bull before your next video. Suddenly, you have a rare niche place in an oversaturated Hearthstone content market and you'll blow up.
I appreciate the feedback; I really need it. I hadn’t really considered including gameplay because channels I’ve based my content on like Rank10YGO, TheDuelLogs, etc. don’t but Hearthstone being a digital only card game makes it more reasonable to include gameplay. I’ve also seen a few comments now on my volume (or lack thereof) and that should be a pretty easy fix. The monotone voice might be a little more challenging since that’s sort of the way I normally talk. But again, thanks for the feedback. It’s like when teachers comment on your essay. It really helps for the next one.

A lot of people these days immediately combat criticism and get defensive instead of considering that the other person may have a valid point that's worth looking into. The fact that you took it well earned you a sub. Anyhow, I really think that you have the potential for something great here because every Hearthstone channel is just a boring clip show of the same 4 poorly-aging streamers providing over-the-top reactions to impress their chat and keep their subs. This is probably the first original idea I've seen tied to the game in years. If you made the first half of a video this theorycrafting and showed the cards, and then the second half of a video the practical application part where you play a game with these disaster decks (which is a name you can steal and use by the way, because that sounds really catchy,) I think that you'll have something really hilarious here that people haven't seen in Hearthstone before. And you'd have people rooting for you if you actually managed to pull off a win with these D- decks. With some creative editing for your matches, that emphasize the highlight moments, you could be huge because people are desperate for something new. And it's not so much your voice; it's actually soothing and sounds fine. There's just a lack of energy in your cadence. People who watch TH-cam have gotten used to this kind of performative news anchor voice where words get pitchy for the sake of emphasis. I think a small adjustment to your delivery would help immensely and it probably wouldn't take much effort. Just don't try to force it. If it sounds unnatural, then you'll come across like those early TH-camrs who felt the need to sound as extreme as possible, and nobody wants that.

I used a token druid in scholomance with it and it was very usefull. Climbed to diomond for the first time with it and was that deck tier 2 i think.

Deathaxe Punisher was super fun with Jeklik as its effect only hiring lifesteal made it almost guaranteed to hit the right card and was super fun. Still never good but oh well

But spellshifter was good for the standard meta at the time. I often times think of him as what well designed cards look like since he's flexible and hard to remove but not overwhelming due to the switch mechanic

Here's an idea to give Celestia justice. Should she even come back, her new form should be "Battlecry: Transform two minions in in your opponent's hand into Harbinger Celestia.
sounds way too strong and not fun to play or play against since after 1 or 2 uses every minion in both hands becomes Celestia and then the only minions that can really impact the game from that point are topdecks. Crazy disruption against combo decks, and basically just turns the game into a topdeck fiesta

Well, if most of your cards have terrible stats for the cost or just terrible stats, boogey is kinda good, because you can't realistically contest it.
It's bad in normal hearthstone because you don't really play minions with very bad stats, but in this expansion-possibly a good card if not countered by poisonous

@@mrchundo So far the biggest issue we've run into is the fact that the set does not have enough synergy to make a few of the cards work: It is literally impossible for the paladin or warlock quest to be achieved, there's no murloc for tinyfin caravan, there's no weapon for suckerhook, no fire spell for antonidas etc. I think it goes against the design ideas of the hearthstone team to have a set be literally unplayable in itself. We're still tryna make it work tho lol
Update: We played a few matches and tempo rogue was the dominant deck. Gibberer is the biggest defining force in the format, next to the very powerful Deathaxe Punisher + Felsoul Inquisitor combo. It's actually a pretty healthy format, it just currently struggles because all the decks feel pretty similar. Probably would be playable with more class cards!
@@MrWhirlywind Yeah there are a couple problems with a format of just these cards. For one, you are using one expansion for the format rather than the 3-6 we usually have in Standard rotation. A second issue is that the expansion has to be both bad enough to be very bad but also cohesive enough to resemble an actual expansion. For someone such as myself who has no experience designing a Hearthstone expansion, that second part of actually having cohesion is pretty difficult. I am glad you are having fun with it.

Validated Doomsayer actualy is Very goood card. Even OP in some Rogue decks after "United in stormwind" was released.
Even its base power good enough. And it's downside isn't that bad. Usualy opponent still spends removal spell.
Ok. Why is validated doomsayer is OP? Because "meat wagon" 4mana1/4 minion from "knights of frozen throne" with deathrattle: summon a minion from your deck with less attack than this minion. Remember, meat wagon have 1 attack and validated doomsayer have 0 attack. Have 4 mana 1/4 mech with deathrattle "summon 7/7 minion" is olready very good, but validated doomsayer accidently get even more sinergies, lets continue.
In "united in stormwind" we have a 3 mana spell "sketchy information" with effect: draw a deathrattle minion that costs 4 or less, trigger its deathrattle. What an incredible coincidence, meat wagon is a deathrattle minion that costs 4. We can summon validated doomsayer from sketchy information. On turn 3 7/7 minion.
BUT. If we have sketchy information and preperation(0 mana spell: next spell this turn costs 2 less) in our hand on turn 1, we can summon Validated Doomsayer on turn 1! And have summoned 7/7 on turn 1 IS scary. And it is better than summon "korrak the bloodrager", usual target of sketchy information.
I've played a lot of arena throughout Hearthstone's history and the point made about Coliseum Manager is spot on.
Most of these cards are cards I remember being unpickable in arena as well as being bad in constructed and are well-deserving of their spots. I do want to say that Venomancer was a decent arena card in its time as it was from early enough in the game's history that most neutral 5 drops were 4/6s which it matched up well against. There was also the dream of it sniping a Hungry Ettin or a Sleepy Dragon as well. You weren't jumping for joy to pick it, but you also didn't mind picking up one or two.

Some of these are actually serviceable in arena and shouldn’t be on the list imo. Anything with at least vanilla stats with no downside (e.g. a 2-mana 2/3) isn’t that bad and can at least be good tempo when played on curve.

i feel as tho worgen greaser is the worse no text, all the other stat lines are ether ok for cost, like faceless behemoth is ok off of conjers calling or pitfiter being good in arena back in the day, even am'gam rager is ok as a buff target even if it is abysmal but worgen greaser is bad by itself as it dies to a 2 drop and things like lightning bolt and frostbolt but also never trades up as 6 is too low to get 6 cost and up while both these days and back in witchwood 5 drops and 6s had stuff they did or didnt see play meaning your 4 tradeing 1 for 2 with a azure drake sucked very very hard
i remember back in nax there was There was experimenting with stone skin gargoyle in paladin as a recipient of buffs it was okay when it was just Stone skin and later when avenge came out it definitely bosted the deck even if Stone skin was cut for being mediocre, To be clear Stone skin definitely belongs on the list just waxing nostalgic about the old days of this game
blubber barron worked like 3-4 years ago in mid tier pally in wild as an ok build around, much more that battlecrys are good rather then the barron but hes prob not the worst
Generally I do agree with you fartface, but Worgen Greaser did actually receive a buff in the last April Fools patch that stuck, and it is now a 6/4. But definitely original 6/3 worgen greaser can get on here. 3 health is baaaaad
death axe had like 2-3 things it could hit depending on class in the game back in KotFT so not even enough total much less good lifesteal worth playing

Worst expansion its a boomsday project.
When I was counting up how many of the worst cards were in each expansion, Boomsday Project was at 0 for a while and I couldn’t figure it out. Then, boom! Harbinger Celestia, Unpowered Mauler, etc.
Weird that you'd put all of this together and then not actually create any kind of deck and play a few sample games with it to show just how awful it actually is.
The lack of any practical application effectively turns this into a bad theorycrafting video with no real pay-off for the viewer.
"What if we used all of this stuff? Well, just imagine it with me because I'm not going to show you what it would be like!"
All of that combined with the "I'm scared to wake the baby because I've had a really long day" monotone whisper made this regrettable to watch.
Put these bad decks together, actually show some gameplay, and drink a Red Bull before your next video. Suddenly, you have a rare niche place in an oversaturated Hearthstone content market and you'll blow up.
I appreciate the feedback; I really need it. I hadn’t really considered including gameplay because channels I’ve based my content on like Rank10YGO, TheDuelLogs, etc. don’t but Hearthstone being a digital only card game makes it more reasonable to include gameplay.
I’ve also seen a few comments now on my volume (or lack thereof) and that should be a pretty easy fix.
The monotone voice might be a little more challenging since that’s sort of the way I normally talk.
But again, thanks for the feedback. It’s like when teachers comment on your essay. It really helps for the next one.
@@mrchundo Glad that you took it to heart and are considering making adjustments. A lot of people these days immediately combat criticism and get defensive instead of considering that the other person may have a valid point that's worth looking into. The fact that you took it well earned you a sub.
Anyhow, I really think that you have the potential for something great here because every Hearthstone channel is just a boring clip show of the same 4 poorly-aging streamers providing over-the-top reactions to impress their chat and keep their subs. This is probably the first original idea I've seen tied to the game in years. If you made the first half of a video this theorycrafting and showed the cards, and then the second half of a video the practical application part where you play a game with these disaster decks (which is a name you can steal and use by the way, because that sounds really catchy,) I think that you'll have something really hilarious here that people haven't seen in Hearthstone before. And you'd have people rooting for you if you actually managed to pull off a win with these D- decks. With some creative editing for your matches, that emphasize the highlight moments, you could be huge because people are desperate for something new.
And it's not so much your voice; it's actually soothing and sounds fine. There's just a lack of energy in your cadence. People who watch TH-cam have gotten used to this kind of performative news anchor voice where words get pitchy for the sake of emphasis. I think a small adjustment to your delivery would help immensely and it probably wouldn't take much effort. Just don't try to force it. If it sounds unnatural, then you'll come across like those early TH-camrs who felt the need to sound as extreme as possible, and nobody wants that.
