Hey Santee, I really enjoy these videos because I am trying to get into cowboy action shooting but it’s hard because I am only 15 and I live in Australia where the gun laws are strict. I’ve been learning to shoot recently with .22LR rifles and I am starting to go to the handgun range to shoot .22 pistols. I am trying to go there more often as I would like to try shoot some of my favourite guns, such as the colt SAA and the colt 1851 navy. I enjoy these videos a lot because I love the old west and they are teaching me about all the historical things like how people dressed up or how all the famous people really were (such as Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday). Also, I would love a video about cannons and artillery in the old west
Its always great to learn about the old west. I do have one question, back in the old days, do all lawmen have a uniform or is it still different from place to place? Any way, good share my friend.
New York and a few metropolitan cities had formal forces with uniforms. LAPD formed in 1869. Uniforms back then weren't so "uniform" either. Mostly it's a standard jacket and hat but shirts, ties, shoes, are all personal items with no uniformity.
Wow very cool to hear more about the lawmen of the old west! Hahahah I had to appreciate the Annie Get Your Gun reference "Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better" :D One of my favs! Arizona Red's wardrobe was very neat! Love seeing the history and authenticity!

Hi Santee. Got some questions-observations that hopefully you may clarify. Now when we watch western-cowboy Hollywood movies we see that when a protagonist or whoever rides into town he-she-they leave their horses "tied" up, at the hitching post, usually in front of the Saloon. They don't actually tie the horse securely but wrap the reins around a post a couple of times. Not secure--why? Also, their rifle is left in a boot attached unto the saddle. Now anyone could walk by and purloin the gun-- why so careless with their valuable property? Also, when there was a gunfight, why was the dead left in the street as I wonder who got their kit, guns, rifles, etc.? Surely these were not eventually buried with the dead,
The loose tying was foolhardy, unless you really trusted your horse. It could wander off. Some people took the guns and gave them to family members of the deceased, or kept them. I have a feeling some famous guns are sitting in people's collections and they don't know what they have!
@@ArizonaGhostriders U.S. Marshals generally had more to do in territories, which were governed directly by the feds. As cities and counties came into being, they pretty-much had only as much autonomy as the (presidentially-appointed) territorial governor allowed them.
The best way for laymen was to dress cleanly and walk and ride straight. Have the air of authority. I used this in my last security job handling 3 bars all in the same block by myself. The patrons called me Wild Bill, even the local police liked the way I did my job, so much so that they offered me a job, but I removed South and now enjoying living in the deep South of the far north.
