There's plenty to choose from.... Early, Mid-season, Late and this one that produces ripe fruit over a very long time, so we can pick from it much longer than conventional Varieties. The other nice thing about this one (that I forgot to mention) is that it is self fertile that means that even if you just have one plant it will still carry fruit. But of course, the more plants you have in close vicinity the better the pollination and fruit set will be. 🫐😋

I know its advertised as needing 1000+ chill hours, is that true?

Since this is not a commercial variety, we are not aware of any scientific data that determines the exact level of chilling needed. It is presumed to be an open pollinated hybrid between the highbush and lowbush blueberries (V. corymbosum and Vaccinium angustifolium) and therefore is likely to perform along the lines of similar hybrid selections.
What we know is that it fruits really well (and easily) here in this (Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern) region, so if you live near any of our partnering garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ we would encourage you to obtain at least a few plants and give it a try.
It's unique, perpetual fruiting (pick and come again) qualities is very special.

    self polinated?

Thank you for asking an important question.... 😊. Yes, it is highly self sterile. So anyone with just one plant will get fruit🫐💙😁👏. However, it is important to point out that the more plants you have in close proximity, the better the pollen distribution and resultant fruit set. And, because this variety flowers over a greatly extended period, there may be some periods when there happens to be a lesser amount of flowers opening at a particular time, so having multiple plants in and around the same area, will obviously help to continue the cropping (in between these bouts of flowering). Thanks again for asking 👍
