It's kinda bad that I can say the line before the characters have said them. Also know the majority of the lore to Gears, cause read the books Such as Dom had an older brother Carlos, the same age as Marcus. Became friends when Marcus transferred to Carlos' school, later join the military. So they've known each other since Marcus was 8, and the Santiago's consider Marcus their brother/son (I say son cause Dom's parents also cared for Marcus). Dom at 16 knocked up Maria, who was his neighbor as a kid. Dom dropped out of school to join military to provide for his family. Think Marcus is 2 years older than Dom. Hoffman had Marcus court marshaled because Marcus slugged him in the face when he started to leave his post when his dad contacted him (the cutscene in Gears 3), along with taking the laser designator for the Hammer of Dawn, which resulted in thousands dying. Marcus was to be executed but cause of war hero status from Aspho Fields, he got chucked in The Slab (the worst jail). Hoffman later also pardoned all the criminals there when the locust literally came through the sewer pipes in the jail, but when asked about Marcus said let him rot. (the prisoners are the kind you find in high security prisons). Didn't sit right with Dom so he busted him out. Marcus' scars are from a dog that attacked him in The Slab.
One slight addition. When it's mentioned that Marcus was at the Battle of Aspho Fields, that was the battle where Dom's brother sacrificed himself. And Marcus recovered a piece of his body, wrapped it up, and took it with him to "bring him home"
@@L3ONSK11 I hope I'm not remembering wrong considering I finished the book Aspho Fields, a couple months ago but Carlos didn't sacrifice himself for like the greater goal of the mission.He fucked up. He blew himself up because he didn't want to get Marcus killed for trying to get him. He didn't want to add Marcus to the list of people he got killed because of his fuck up. Bernie and Marcus lied about how Carlos went out, for Dom.
So uh Fun Fact. In the original X360 version of this game, there was only CASUAL, HARDCORE and INSANE difficulty options. "Normal" was added in the second game iirc so Hardcore was the normal of this game. I'm not sure if there is a difference between original hardcore and Ultimate/2 forwards hardcore tho but I still consider it the real "normal" difficulty lol.
In 2 onwards Hardcore is Hard and Insane is very hard, however in Gears Ultimate Hardcore is the difficulty scale of Insane from the original and Insane is even harder. Gear Ultimate was not properly test for all levels on it's version of Insane the last confirmed tested level on that difficulty was the escape from the Fenix Manor.
@@HelFrostKara I beat the Original Gears Games on all the difficulties Solo and then re-beat Gears 1 on Insane before ever playing Gears Ultimate I still can't get past the non-tested uncut Burmak fight on Insane, so I looked up why. Microsoft Studios just added the cut levels from the Original Gears when they made Ultimate then added a Harder Difficulty to make it have the same difficulties as 2-Judgment. However to clarify the cut levels were in the PC release of the Original and were tested only then so take that how you will considering the XBOX release of Gears 1 didn't have said levels.

I remember I had hoped they would add them to the X360 verssion as DLC lol But what you said also reminded me of a part in Gears 2 I, can't remember if it was different solo, but in COOP if both players were on Insane it was just (or seemed) impossible (Act 1 Chapter 3 I think. Where you're riding the large truck platform thingy).
@@HelFrostKara Co-op in Gears games is both easier and harder than Solo they never tell you this but the difficulty scales up slightly when in co-op which truly makes some parts easy in one and harder in the other, I do however know that level you stated is worse solo than co-op. To clear up about the scale I talked about it makes the game harder when co-op partners are together and easier when separated (when they players are forced to split up) so when the story forces players to split up it is about as hard as it would be solo, just keep in mind if one player dies they both have to restart. Also my information is a little off because I barely remember playing any of the Gears games anymore because the last time I played any of them is 4 years ago and it was Gears 4 then, 5 , then tactics (Personally I didn't like said 3 but that's just me) and beating them on insane was hell and I co-oped 5 because of how hard it got. Back to the topic of said level All I really remember was it took me 5 hours and give or take 40 retries before I beat it and I mostly just let the A.I. do most of the fighting and reviving them when they went down but I don't even remember if that tactic is what worked or not for me to get past it, It very much feels impossible until you clear it then you start feeling nostalgic for how easy it was compared to later levels. (I'm going to stop responding after this because I need to go to sleep, I might respond later however)

Played through Gears Ultimate Edition with my best friend like a month ago for the first time. A series I missed when it first came out, but it's cool seeing Ray copy me and play it with Andy, because that's totally what happened and I'm not delusional or joking at all.
Them talking about Redbox, Best Buy, and Game Stop all together somehow reminded me of Game Crazy, and as much as I miss Block Busters the true loss when they all went under was losing Game Crazy. Used to be my favourite game store.
Can confirm some people just like to watch the game from beginning to end with little to no editing. Most of my early days watching TH-cam was watching a game as a series, eventually, people started editing and only posting the funny bits, and while they were fun I stopped watching quite a few people because I just missed seeing everything, thankfully streaming got big and more'n more people post their VODs, on that note, thanks Ray for doing that, I still watch the Highlight videos, but I'll usually go to watch the VODs those highlights came from, it's fun to see the events leading up to and after the clips.

The funny thing is that in the original version of this game, they call them Dog Tags during that cutscene where Carmine sits over the pit Instead of COG Tags They also used to call Cole 'Gus' during certain cutscenes and in objectives, but changed it for some reason.

Please please at least play up to gears of war 3, that game would be perfect for the stream. Plus you could play with 3 other people

Yes play through the buggy Gears of war 2 as well. (The A.i doesn't like to work half the time in Gears 2, especially on single player, But I think it'll be funny with Ray and Andy Cortez.)
It sucks that the PC version of this barely functions. The framerate wildly fluctuates between like 15-60 constantly. For the record: it's not just 'cause I'm playing on a toaster. My previous toaster had the same exact issues, and this current one still plays most new games at 60fps. So it's unfortunately just a shitty PC port. :(
I have just learned that Marcus Pheonix is voiced by John DiMaggio. That's fantastic. Both Bender and Jake the Dog are two of my favorite characters ever, and I love his work.

That Berzerker section went a lot better than I thought it would, even with Andy getting clipped a little.
